This may be a stupid question but do you know how it’s wired in please? Does it connect to the inverter? My caravan has one of these (only just bought it) but the ac only seems to work when plugged into mains
Anybody bad mouthing an A/C unit is a goof. There's few things better than being able to climb into a cool and comfortable shelter after a long day on the trail. Beyond that it opens up the summer months for camping when one would otherwise not venture out.
Darryl. The solar panel needs to be moved up. You will get shade from the stuff around it. You won't get good charging. Can you link where you found the cladding you used on the exterior. Everything looks great.

Hi Daryl. Just wondering how you handle air circulation for your camper when using the aircon. I guess using the aircon means closing up the camper which would mean little fresh air coming in.
I'll generally leave a window slightly open, although it does act in its various modes as a recirculating fan and dehumidifier apart from heating and cooling.
Hi Darryl, is that a 12v system? And you can run the air con with a 1500w inverter?? That seems too little! Is the air con unit the 2.4kw one or what are the specs? Thanks mate set up looks great.
Correct, a lot has to do with the size of the cabin, as the A/C's duty cycle isn't that long. As you can see, once it hits the required temp the amp draw is actually quite low.
@@DarrylSheather but let’s say you had a larger area, I have mine installed in an old 6m Toyota coaster. Would it work do you think? I am running an 1800 watt inverter. Thanks mate!
@@torben314 Dependant on A/C, is it an old type compressor that draws a million amps on startup or the more modern and efficient soft start inverter versions. Also depends on how much battery storage you have, it's one thing being able to run an A/C it's another being able to have the battery storage to run it for any length of time. All you can do is connect it up and monitor the amp draw, and see if the inverter will handle it. Of course, experiments like these are done at your own risk lol.
@@DarrylSheather thanks mate. It’s the exact same ac as yours that’s what got me to the video actually. If I was going to do this I’d run 2x120ah itech lithium batteries. I have one currently but could upgrade. Very helpful mate thanks and hope you keep warm/cool on your travels!
I've run coffee machines, a convention cooktop and the air con off it with no issues. So far for the money, I can't see how you can beat it. I suppose the question is, how long will it last and for that I have no answer.
$700 each battery at its cheapest, hmmmm. I paid $2100 for a australian made 280 amp battery, makes sense to spend a few more $$ and have more power and 1 battery
Man, you've done yourself well with this camper build. You've have done an amazing job!
Thank you Greg, very kind of you.

oh I don't mind, we all have differing opinions. Love the A/C when camping though.
Absolutely!!!!!
My van fitter says they all Harrier Lites leak ...??? ever had a leak , perhaps on the dehumidify cycle ...???
All I can say, is that on our unit we have no issues.
Do you get any benefits from linking from UP port to another battery port LINK RS485 ?

In practise it works quite well. Theres a fine line between optimum and packaging sometimes.

Hi mate, have you tried the ac in summer yet with your batteries?
yes works pretty similar to when its heating.

Great vid. Would you recommend the Kings inverter, albeit I know Kings is hit and miss?
