When I watched the bumblebee movie and I heard Soundwave say “decepticons attack” I got chills. Bumblebee is by far my favourite TF movie because of how faithful those designs were to G1. It was like my childhood came alive and no one has any idea how much that movie means to me.
TFP to me had the most unique designs. Each character had a personality of their own in the design. They didnt look like identical cube-like shapes and all.

It was interesting, but in terms of satellites and surveillance, I think transformers prime did it brilliantly! There was even that time they used that giant array of satellite dishes to find that space bridge I believe. Been awhile since I've watched it 😅 be he saw and heard everything and vould open ground Bridge at anytime even in combat! He was a perfect sneaky clever reconnaissance spy! 😁👍🏻
Fun Fact: Soundwave actually had TWO Dark of the Moon designs. One design in visible within the DotM video game, and the other is in the movie. The robot form has minor changes but his vehicle mode is completely changed,
I love tfp Soundwave just from how different and creepy and cool he was. He went from a bulky cassette player to a slim, quick ship, and he never spoke, and the one time he did was just eerie and left a chilling impression, and I loved it
TFP - scene where he is interested by the Autobots scared the shit out me,the first time he spoke maaaaan! Every Autobot in that room shat a break. Optimus prime put on strong front ,you see it in his eye's though. That was his first wtf moment.

TFP will always be the biggest part of my childhood out of any transformers show. You didn't need to be a transformers geek to understand what was going on, and even though they rarely followed the traditional character designs, the designs they made were still amazing on their own. The TFP Soundwave and Shockwave will remain my favorites

The fact that different series can play Soundwave super seriously like Prime and the games while others can make him hilarious like Cybertron and Cyberverse and both completely work really shows how great of a character concept he is.
A lot of TFP designs are proof designs don’t need to be exact same as the source material, just that they give the original vibe and are executed greatly with attention to detail

Honestly, rotf soundwave, had such a good design IMO. Due to the fact his mode/silhouette perfectly encapsulated his "Intelligence" position. Like he is a spy, he is eavesdropping gathering intelligence for Megatron, being his eyes and ears.
Prime sound mwave is like my favorite example for why it’s good for different interpretations of the same character are great. He’s fundamentally different from all the previous version of himself, and yet he’s peak regardless.
Soundwave's design is much like Optimus. It doesn't need to be changed. Maybe a slight alteration here and there, but on the whole his original design was indeed, perfect.
Bayverse Soundwave was just...perfection. First it perfectly goes with spy role and especially since everytime I saw him on screen he was just menacing
