- After getting this mega scooter running, it was time to address some service items. The scooter had sat for about ten years so it needed new tires and the fluids gone through. I didn't do everything in this video, but it's a good start.

just purchased one of these lovely machines and found this amazing video and wanted to say thank you for the gift of knowledge and you are much appreciated
@@montybrantley9423 great scooters but for me it ended up being too big.
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures I purchased to get use to riding on the street grew up doing motorcross and wanted a beginner bike
@@montybrantley9423 I got mine up close to 100 mph, it will move! I had a big street bike at the time and wanted a smaller scooter for the ease of riding in town. For a commuter scooter, the big Atlantic would be awesome.
Greetings from the UK and thanks for this video! I have a 2002 Aprilia Atlantic 500 that has been sitting in my garage for 12 years and I need to do a ton of things to get it on the road again! First of all I need to get a new battery, then change fluids, tyres. I remembered removing the rear tyre was not very straightfdorward, but feel much better after seeing you do it!
It really isn’t too bad to work on this scooter. All of them have their challenges. Have a great day!
Thanks for maiking this video..i got loooots of
God info for me to do the service on my Aprilia Atlantic 500...big salute from Slovenia!!!
Glad to have helped from halfway around the world.
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures yes it is awsome to talk to people so far away..me and my brother also have lots of friend from USA we have a chanel ROBERT PETRINČIČ RC :) check it out my friend...
Petrinčič bros rc :)
Thanks Tom.
Have the same maxi, and tanks to your video done oil change by my self. I just to do it on Transalp, but never try it on the AA because of this bunch of plastic... But it was not a big deal. Spring is here, so probably next is brake fluid.
Wish me luck 😊
Glad the video helped. This scooter isn’t too difficult to work on. Have fun!
Nice Job 👍
Thank you .
HI Tom, A lot of good information here. Thank you for taking the time to post this. The brake bleed you showed was for the single front caliper controlled by the right lever? That side is not linked? How do you bleed the master cylinder and lines connected to the left lever? Thank you!
I thought that I showed it?
Hay Tom how do u change rear turn signal bulbs & should I change trans / gearbfluid?
@@mattpressler5420 I don’t recall how the turn signals were set up on that scooter, it’s been sold for a long time. Changing the gear oil is not a bad idea, usually pretty easy.
The 125 has the annoying drain plug too. Can't get the catch pan under the damn hole .and can't get a good angle undoing it (I resorted to ugga-dugga it off was way too tight)
I wish manufacturers cared about stuff like that.
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures in the end I put it on the side stand instead so I could get a decent shot at the catch pan then I leaned the scooter over towards me to drain as much as I could. The oil was knackered too.
I've done some more digging on the front fairing mirrors too. It's strange...
2003 - 2004 125 up to 500cc had two variations of plastics it seems 🤷🏻♂️ one has the 3rd brake light like yours and one has a less bulky rear and the mirror location. Not enough info about online to find out exactly what the model differences are.
Greetings,i have a question for you
I bought same aprillia and my computer is working but it wont show me my speed, and mph, and my right side, wich is speed table and temperature isnt working?
What am i supposed to do?
My speed is always at 0, maybe its unpluged but dont know how to chek it
I’m sorry, don’t know about the display. Most modern speedometers are triggered by a magnet and sensor on one of the wheels but some are read from the transmission. Just start troubleshooting. Good luck.
How do you remove and replace the glove box cover on a 2004 Aprilia Atlantic 500
I no longer have this scooter, so can’t look at it to help you. Sorry!
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures I figured it out ty
Any chance this scooter is for sale? I live in San Diego.
I’m considering selling it
I have a 2003 just sitting, same scooter matte grey, thinking of selling it.
@@paulm7753 I did end up selling it. Was just too big, if I was commuting on it then I would probably have kept it.
-:))) Merci ;)
I know just enough French to know what you're saying. Bonjour!
Damn they were cracked
I assume you’re talking about the tires. Hate having to replace tires with so much tread but they were scary looking.
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures
Yes the tires. Quite scary looking. I’m spending my evening here in PA looking at Atlantic 500 vids. One for sale near me. So far I’m a 70cc scoot guy but I’m looking to upgrade to a road going scoot.
@@robertpierce1981 I like this scooter but it’s definitely a big beast. I sold my 250 after getting this and honestly wish I had kept it.
Well done!... and here's a (darn funny) homage to another great now-defunct scooter:

I like most of that guy's work, very entertaining channel!
