Anyone know what the 4 smaller chips are that are pasted? Should they be cleaned and repasted also? Ive seen a few of these tutorials and they always leave out those smaller areas but I feel like they should be repasted also?
I think it's the VRAM, they're covered in that pink thing that's thermal putty and does the same job as thermal paste, dissipating heat. You should also replace it when it looks dry.
I think, not that much dangerous when you are just replacing the thermal paste. Unless you are replacing the screen its recommended to disconnect the battery.

Thanks for the reply. I did end up repasting all chips with thermal paste. Temps are much more stable now.
why didn't you remove the pink paste?
thats thermal putty is still in good condition... no need to replaced
