Traditional Ukrainian Christmas Porridge - Kutia

1 ½ cups pearled wheat (kutia)
2 tsp salt
1 cup walnuts
1 cup raisins
Hot water
5 Tbsp honey
⅓ cup poppyseed filling
Sugar to taste
Add kutia to 3 cups of water. Let it soak for 2-3 hours or overnight.
When the kutia is done soaking, rinse it several times and cook it with 3 cups of water mixed with and let it simmer for 45 minutes while mixing every couple minutes. Add salt to taste. The kutia is ready when it is soft.
To prep the other ingredients, soak one cup of raisins in hot water for 30 minutes. Also, mix 5 Tbsp honey with 2 Tbsp hot water to liquify it.
When the kutia is done cooking, add the walnuts, raisins, honey, poppyseed filling, and sugar to taste, then mix well. Serve chilled.
