For clarification: The Irish Guards band are playing 'Steadfast and True' by Carl Teike; the Welsh Guards 'To Your Guard' by W T Hughes.; The Coldstream Guards ‘Old Comrades’ (Alte Kameraden)by Carl Teike ; The Scots Guards ‘The Glaswegian’ by Jimmy Howe and the Grenadiers ‘The Kings Guard’ by JH Keith.

4:39 Drum Major Jeff Burns, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards Leading The Band of the Grenadier Guards and The Combined Corps of Drums of The 1st Battalion Grenadier and Welsh Guards.
Great video and presentation of each of the bands. I'm only kidding when I say they should buy a few more bass drums and place them among the guards so they don't have to hear the band bass from a block away. They are about to wear out both drum and drummer on each march. Bigdrum--you should be able to attest to that. I love the bands and their full stride marching. True professionals all.
@LordWellington15 The Irish Guards and Welsh Guards did not participate in 2010's Trooping the Colour. I believe the Welsh Guards were away on operations in Afghanistan, however the Irish Guards did provide most of the guardsmen who lined the route from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade.
@AbleDempsey It may be based on 'I belong to Glasgow'. The march is 'The Glaswegian' by J H Howe. I am not sure because 'I belong to Glasgow' is in 3/4 time and in the major. This section is in 4/4 time and in the minor! The tune proper appears later on (not heard in this extract). On either side is the tune 'Kelvingrove' (a part of Glasgow). This was originally the tune for 'The Shearin's No For You', a great song but too strong for the Victorians who produced the current 'nice' version.
@bluebermyboi I was replying to an individual comment, why would the subject of the video matter? He was asking why the Irish Guards did not parade on Horse Guards for 2010's Trooping the Colour. Easily discerned since it is given that all 5 Guards bands always take part in Trooping the Colour and that 5 different bands appear labelled in this video. Regardless, you are quite wrong. The guardsmen at 2:48 are Coldstreamers and like I said initially, the street-liners are Irish guardsmen.
Why are the DMs doing different mace drills? The Irish and Scots Guards are doing the Mace Swing, the Welsh and Coldstream Guards are doing the Left Carry, and the Grenadier Guards is doing the State Walk. Why are they different?
Let us haste to Kelvingrove, Bonnie lassie O. Through it's mazes let us rove, Bonnie Lassie O........... The next tune played by the Scots Guards seems to be the Jacobite song, "Charlie Is My Darling" (The Young Chevalier).
I would be grateful if anyone could post the songs played by each band please. I have most of them, just can not figure out the last one. Thanks in advance.
nice video of these fine british bands - why are the uniforms of the various bands the same and not distinctive - yea the bass drums are very loud regardless of the music dynamics - is this characteristic of british bands - thanks tbd
The gentleman in front wearing State Dress (it's gold) is the Drum Major. The gentleman marching in the band without an instrument is the Director of Music.
The Irish drummer with the mascot dog seems to have a problem with swinging his arm front to rear, come on now, can't this be sorted.out wth a few extra drills ?.
Much love from the Yanks you beautiful bastards. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
This is what makes Britain Great
I was in heaven. this is a magnificent posting!

Thanks for posting this top quality clip. Love watching the Trooping of The Colours. I have been watching it since the early 80's when I was a kid.
I'd love to live next-door to them on rehearsal night
Superb! Well done the Guards! They never fail! The Best of the Best!
Now I know how to walk my dog and practice my instrument at the same time !

Superb military music!
"Alte Kameraden", gespielt von einem brtischen Garderegiment(02:05).
Thank you very much from Germany.
It's from a piece by J. Howe entitled "Pentland Hills". Howe takes many Scottish folk tunes and marries them together in this presentation.
I believe the last march, played by the Grenadier Guards band, is the "The Kings Guard"
I'm thai and I would like to say.."magnificent"
The march played by the Scots Guards Band is "The Glaswegian" by Howe
Indeed he is important. he his an Irish wolfhound and is the Regiments mascot
@LordWellington15

The tune at 3.46 is "Charlie is My Darling" an old Jacobite tune.

Why are the DMs doing different mace drills? The Irish and Scots Guards are doing the Mace Swing, the Welsh and Coldstream Guards are doing the Left Carry, and the Grenadier Guards is doing the State Walk. Why are they different?
@guardjudy Ive seen on most parades when hes out, they dont fully swing their arm back. Could be some special drill for the mascot.
Let us haste to Kelvingrove, Bonnie lassie O.

@tralens Not sure the tune in 'The Glaswegian' is the Rowan Tree. Is that not the tune in the trio of 'Pentland Hills'?
sousafan100: The Guards regiments are distinctive and those in the know can tell the difference between each regiment. I will leave you to research.
Roger Willott COUNT THE BUTTONS!
That guard at the front thought he would take his dog for a walk while he was at it

@guardjudy Perhaps the Wolfhound bit him??.

buttons
The different guards regiments wear different colour plumes and have differen numbers of buttons on their tunics.
What's the difference between the guy in front (yellow) and the guy on the 3rd final row with no instrument (band leader?)
The gentleman in front wearing State Dress (it's gold) is the Drum Major. The gentleman marching in the band without an instrument is the Director of Music.
Hey, can anyone name me the song played by the Welsh Guards??
Um who's dog is that? Whats special about him/her?
What is the music at 2:30?
What mic do you use?
The Irish drummer with the mascot dog seems to have a problem with swinging his arm front to rear, come on now, can't this be sorted.out wth a few extra drills ?.
