The Bills looked pretty damn good this year. 10-6 and a playoff berth. Would've been 11-5 if they didnt sit all their starters in Week 17. They'll be back next year. One of the youngest teams in the league with a very good head coach in Sean McDermott and the GM Brandon Beane is very good at drafting. For the first time in many years the Buffalo Bills are relevant again

The all-whites were much better. They, along with the orange helmets, "popped" against the gray Cleveland sky. Remember hearing someone from the '64 championship team saying the Browns looked so much bigger in white than the Colts did in Blue. EVERY Brown's championships were won in white jerseys.

Ironic that during Buffalo's run with Jim Kelly in the postseason, ALL FOUR of their losses came to AFC Central teams...Cincinnati in the 88 AFC Championship Game, Cleveland here in the 1989 AFC Divisional Round, Pittsburgh in the 1995 AFC Divisional Round, and Jacksonville in the 1996 AFC Wildcard Game. They went 8-0 against AFC East and West teams from 1990-1995 in the postseason.

James Lofton was still maybe the best deep threat in the NFL even at 34-35 years of age. What a great player he was and a HUGE factor in 3 out of the 4 Bills AFC Championship teams. He retired after the 92 season and could have still played even longer. That Bills team had 2 of the greatest WR in NFL history in Lofton and Andre Reed. I think Lofton is the oldest WR in NFL history to gain over 1,000 yards in a season other than Jerry Rice

A fun fact about this game was the fact that this game would be the last for Merlin Olsen as an analyst for NBC. Prior to the season, NBC demoted Olsen who had been the No. 1 analyst for NBC since 1977 and was replaced by Bill Walsh who retired from coaching after his victory in Super Bowl XXIII. Olsen would move to CBS for the 1990 and 1991 seasons before retiring from the booth. Another bit of information from this video is at the 7:13 mark you here Charlie Jones mention Oliphant. That would be Mike Oliphant (#33) who was the player that the Browns received for trading Earnest Byner to the Washington Redskins after the 1988 season. However, that move didn't do much for the Browns as Byner would get a Super Bowl ring during the 1991 season and would return to Cleveland before the team moved to Baltimore. Oliphant on the other hand, ended up with hamstring injuries that sat him for the entire 1990 season and most of the 1991 season before letting him go. He would sign with Seattle but was cut before the 1992 regular season, ending his NFL career. Oliphant played three more years in the CFL before calling it a career altogether in 1995.

Not a Browns fan, but it would be awesome if the Browns pull off the upset against Mahomes & KC, so we can get a Bills/Browns AFC Championship game. I'd love to see that.

I miss this time in sports. I was just 9. But I remember like it was yesterday. These players played for the love. Not the big contracts like the spoiled entitled brats today. 80's was a great time to be alive. I would do anything to go back to that time. Anything!!

This would be the Browns last crack at a Superbowl. They could never get past Denver.

And lose to the NFC East in the Superbowl for ..... The next 4 years 😑

This was a changing of the guard game when you look back on it. From 86-98, the Browns were one of the powerhouse teams in the AFC making 3 of 4 AFC championship games. 89 was the last year for this group before the early 90s rebuild under Belichick.
Buffalo, meanwhile discovered the magic of the 2 minute offense which became their K-Gun scheme that propelled them to four straight Super Bowls

The Browns kicker made his best kick on a bad snap where the ball was almost at a 45 degree angle, not really what you'd expect lol
