Roy has always been my favorite in this game. (Possibly because I played Binding Blade as a kid and loved it.) I don't get why most melee players bash him. Sure he's a little slow, but not like Bowser. And he's got a lot of raw strength. This run-through was amazing. Must take a lot of practice and skill.

But it's been shown DTilt can be a setup while not DIed away from it, or poorly-DIed. Hmmmmm.

Wish I had this much success in L canceling every Roy air attack. The max cancels in a row I've gotten and successfully killed someone in all-star on very hard was 3 times. But of course TASes make me feel like crap

He's playing on a GameCube emulator. It gives him plenty of advantages to make Tool-Assisted Speedruns : Savestates, slowdowns, frame-advance, RAM watch, and other types of technical stuff. Tool-Assisted Speedruns mostly show frame-perfect gameplay. Using all those moves in this run is extremely difficult (if not impossible) for a human being to execute.
As far as tournament viability goes, yeah roy isn't all that great...but look at Hbox, Amsa, and Axe. They put in such an enormous amount of dedication that they single-handedly advanced their characters' metagame (getting into top 8 at nationals no less). The same could be done with a skilled roy.
+AstralNemea His up smash spike is really good but incredibly precise also, he has some good options but they are too precise and Marth is just overall better.

Roy's combo game doesn't look so bad when you can get the meteor more than once in awhile.
It's not all that hard to land once you get the hang of it either. Any puff player that can hit rest consistently can get the hang of D-air meteor.
