As an apprentice at Suttons City Holden when it used to be near Kings Cross, I got to drive one of these customer cars for a delivery/drop home. I used the in car phone, called me parents and a mate and thought I was boss! Until a few weeks later my actual boss calls me into the office and asked who I called..... 🤒
when removing tint, try spray some soapy water behind the film as you are pulling it. The heat will soften the adhesive, but then when you spray the soapy water, its like it re-activates/softens the adhesive and helps it to loosen up more.
I agree with removing the tint on this car. Some cars do look better with tint, but the minute it’s getting hazy or bubbling, then it needs to come off. I have dark tint on my VL Brock wagon, but it was ordered with blacked out chrome and everything to be black or white - even the wipers were done in white! It was clearly a Collingwood supporter. With all the black chrome and black window frames dark tint suits it better than no tint. Same with white, red or silver VN-VS HSV - tint suits the lighter colours. But on a dark colour like yours, I agree, no tint. Keep up the good work. I really like what you’re doing.
Love the VR clubsport! In last weeks video, when you received the original hsv plates, it reminded me that i still have my hsv plates from the VS clubsport i once owned. i believe it's HSV805 Agree with you also no tint on classic cars.
Great content there, Chris. I hope you enjoy your new pride. Enjoy. I must admit that I have been a bit slack at the moment on doing videos for my channel. Because I have just lost my best friend this morning. Dying of old age, my old Grey, Tabby Cat. She was 12 years old. She could have made it to 13 years old by 15th August, but sadly, it didn't happen. She died on 19th June at 3:55 AM. this morning. Please do look after yourself. Anyway, cheers from William.
Do a ‘shift improver’ kit on the trans. It gives crisper (not harsh) shifts and actually helps the trans last longer due to lack of slipping between gears and TCC lockup. Transgo is the brand I used, you’ll probably also need a valve body separator plate as itll be hammered from the check balls. Try RockAuto for parts as the 4L60E was a hugely popular trans
I reckon to tint or not depends on type of car, but I just tint all of mine in WA - interior gets wrecked otherwise and you get sunburnt through the windows with our sun!
Appreciate your work champ💙good to see your young fella share the same interests with the camera👌would love to see how you could remove the stain with a buffer as I have a similar issue🙏
great job so far bud. I dunno about the tint. I get it, when it looks shit, remove it. But on the HSV's i think the dark tint was standard, so I left mine on (HSV VP clubsport) to try and keep it as original as possible. But that's just my opinion. Car looks madanyway, Great job :)
First thing I bought when I got my ve clubby was the hsv brochure.Vs is looking mint with the ocd touch 😏 . Three shades of blue now with the evolution, Rex and hsv 👍
.Been doing a 99 10 th anniversary series 3 maloo for 5 years is harder than people realise to get gd quality parts especially plastic exterior stuff and rare spares are hopeless now repco own it. And how many different shades interior parts come in from 93 - 2000
Hey mate i have a vr ss same colour and got a respray it really needed it. but wish it was in your condition as every little scratch blemish thats gets on it i really stew on it. Id leave it and maybe try just paint match the roof. I also have a vn spac i got the same time you got your vn, i also ls swapped it still not on the road 😂😂
Good evening, Chris, looks great, I agree with you on the tint. I do have a question in regard to the mark on the alloy cover on top of the engine. I know it's the small things. But is that on your list? Cheers P.S. a heat gun is a must, you can buy them for about $30,
Get some one who specialises in touch up and wet sanding then machine Polish done right you wont even no its there the roof with right polish pad combo should come up well get someone with paint thickness gauge in case its been paint before save lot of heartache going though paint
I agree mate Tint should be removed on a classic car. Don’t have tint on my GC8 it also reduces the severity of the scratch marks which are an iconic trade mark on the GC8 due to the felt pads being filled with dirt which scratches the windows.
@@MindieJ what I did was use the felt side of double sided Velcro tape and removed the window guides and stuck that on to them. Still holding up strong after 7 years.
Dude don't paint that car, get a good paint correction guy and leave it as is. You don't need a perfect paint 30 year old car, a correction will just make that car age correct. Don't chase absolute perfection you'll never get there because it doesn't exist.
@@MindieJ oh sorry missed that bit, spray away then but I feel a full body respray coming on. Might make some good video content to see what you discover under there??
“If you use something else in your own car…congratulations…”
Brilliant!
Tell it how it is
Being frizzled and having OCD on car cleanliness, must do your head in... Great to see that mum and bub are happy and healthy.
Head is definitely done in

Great tip 👌🏼

Love your Senator, not clubsport, my bad.
Great tips for window tint removal. Have the family’s old vs clubby sitting in the garage I’m going to give that a crack.
Good luck!

Great looking hsv. Love the interior.
Thanks mate appreciate it
💯 on the no tint. Also agree , just give it a mad detail or paint correction and see how it comes up from there. Love the vids no matter how long.
See how we go
Looks like you have been doing a bit of gardening on your roof mate 5:00 mark for reference.

looks great mate! this makes me want to get a VR senator 😅👌
Sell ya this one, 35k

Might just make it a convertible, problem solved
Tint delete looks sweet as! 👌
It does!

Tint is definitely not factory
Well done for using the correct oil and oil filter for the 304 5L. Are you going to replace those old tyres next with potenza 003's? Love this car.
Nah I’ll just leave them
100% agree with no tint on weekenders or modified cars
Good call
A clear ceramic film would be good, no tint in it but still get the repelling of the heat (if it even gets hot enough in VIC to worry about that)
It gets hot
This car will hardly move, I’ll be fine with no tint haha
Engine covers installed back to front. Also the little dots on the window edges are of ceramic material. Cheers.
Thanks haven’t mentioned it many times and been commented about 200 times
So much cleaner without the tint 👌
Agree’d
Bud a heat gun works awesome no residue at all
First thing I bought when I got my ve clubby was the hsv brochure.Vs is looking mint with the ocd touch 😏 . Three shades of blue now with the evolution, Rex and hsv 👍
And my daily GTI is blue also
Fishbowl all the way. 100%
When the windows are super clean it looks amazing.
Yeh I can’t wait to give them a quick glass polish

Those dots are for safety in glass Manfacturing they take in heat, so windows don't blow up.😉
Good to know
Great progress already. What a pick up this Senator is. Does the LSD need a friction modifier with the Diff fluid?

Why you copying me for!
@@MindieJ hahaha im not, must be an age thing 😂
You'll love learning detailing if your ocd! I almost think the bird shit stain can come off with a good cutting compound
I just don’t really have the time for it
What’s with the high vis??? Did you leave project performance
Haven’t worked there since last year
Does it still have the original Pilkington windscreen?
My VS SS doesn't unfortunately. Always bugged me!

Yep all that stuff is on the list
Is the Subaru still around? I can't keep up with this guy
If a car comes/goes there will be a video
How much are the originals worth?….i inherited a huge stack of brochures/dealership reading material….
Maybe $50 or so
@@MindieJ ok cool cos yea i have a decent stack of them for all makes models etc of holdens
I have to pull the tint off my vr hsv wagon that’s also in same blue
Goodluck!
Mindie you need Quick jacks way better than car stands
I need a hoist not quick jacks
Get some one who specialises in touch up and wet sanding then machine Polish done right you wont even no its there the roof with right polish pad combo should come up well get someone with paint thickness gauge in case its been paint before save lot of heartache going though paint
Tend to agree with your views on tint
Seems to be a common opinion
do you work at a different place now?
Correct
Probably just needs a touch up and detail use some of the Autoglym products...
Unfortunately no amount of detailing is going to replace paint
You still at project performance mate??
Negative

Looks good no tint bro
Looks fresh!
What happen to the wrx ? Also 1st comment 😂
3rd comment, nothing happened to it’s
If I was in Melbourne, I’d come around and happily detail the undercarriage for you. Wouldn’t even ask for anything. I like doing it.
Are going to ice blast the undercarriage?
Not unless it’s free
Slam it 🤌🤌
No thanks
@NuriiG...why ruin it?

I’m not chasing perfection I’m chasing presentable
Better no tint, then people don't stick their heads hands on it to look in.👍
Another good point
Great, now I want to remove the shitty tint on my VN. Go find the wife's hairdryer🤫
Goodluck!
Change the engines covers around!
Thanks for that, hasn’t been mentioned about 700 times
Need to improve your steamer technique. It works so well once you do it right
This steamer is crap, not steamers in general
Petrol on a rag gets the glue off easy
And even get the bonus of stinking out your car in the process
Who wants the fanmily to get torched by the sun on a 35c day ?
The devil
Please turn those god damn engine covers around! 😂
You must’ve missed the bit where I turned them around…….
@@MindieJ 🤔🤔🤔they were wrong in this video...
If the car is in original paint. You are going to devaluate it by spraying it.
It isn’t as I previously mentioned
@@MindieJ oh sorry missed that bit, spray away then but I feel a full body respray coming on. Might make some good video content to see what you discover under there??
I hate squeaky doors
Thanks for letting me know
Don't paint it. Pay a pro to do a paint correction
Unfortunately no amount of detailing puts paint back on a car
