Just to for future reference when you do a suspension measurement measure from the centre of the wheel to the guard so then when you give those measurements to anybody else it won't matter what size wheel they or you have on the car as this way all your doing is measuring suspension height hope this helps in the future 👍
Dont forget to get the rear camber adjuster kit to get the rear alignment correct after lowering it so it wont scrub out tyres. but yep perfect, what what i did with mine 15 years ago, sssl rear ssl front monroe gt, perfect.
Senator looking great. Rear and front will come down more with constant driving, give it a measure in another few months 👌👌 Highly recommend a Camber toe kit for the rear. It will eliminate scrubbing tyres out 👌
Hey look up these link pins part no ( FSBL-HLN007 ) there quite different as they have a ball joint fitting at the top & seam to have less strain on them compared to conventional link pins ive found just thought I would give you the heads up as your always giving us the heads up on something new
Looking good mate , so long as you’re happy with the height that’s all that matters, I had Monroe GT Gas & King Springs in my VH SLE years ago rode a handled awesome just had it at FE2 height so same as HSV standard height it suited the Commodore well
I've had this issue once when I lowered a falcon and within a week it dropped nicely. I have a feeling that the sssl springs just might be a bit old (brand new). I think SSSL is now called Ultra Low. But it's supposed to be the same product. The spring just needs to work a bit to get soft, in my experience. Looks great man
L - Low, SL - Super Low, SSL - Ultra Low, SSSL - SSSL. For the record anything lower than SL gives significantly worse handling, because King Springs have the same spring rate regardless of the amount of lowering, so you put SSSLs in and the car just bottoms out very easily and has bad geometry. SSL is supposed to be about 50mm lower than 'standard' (non sports model suspension) and SSSL about 60-70mm. In the front it also depends what engine you've got as V8s are heavier and therefore end up lower on the same spring. The reason it didn't drop as much as you would expect is probably just because the original springs were sagged af therefore the car was already lowered.
Need to crack loose the control arm bolts, so the bushes be set in a new position. The bushes are glued in centre metal sleeves. See the wheel alignment shop. If they can do this? The rear may drop again. If you lower it in the rear it may need a camber kit to suit irs
*"But you'll see that in a future episode, of Carna-"* 🤣 Nice one. The rear probably comes down a 'touch' more in drive being an IRS deal too. Maybe it just outlines how sagged the old gear really was lol.
Installed the same shocks front and rear last weekend in my SS. Had SSL's but changed to SL's. Can confirm my SS sat lower then yours with just the SSL's. Too low IMO. Lowest point on my SS is still only 90mm off the ground with the SL's 🤦♂
I had a series 2 VS Calais, had the same problem put SSSL and it did nothing for me, I tried so many different springs etc I got sick of it and put Barina springs and it sat perfect 🤣
IMO Height is great, looks just right with those 17 inch rims too. Interested though to read your thoughts on the ride quality with the Monroe GT Sports. I had them with Kings springs but on a VX and I personally found them really harsh and uncomfortable, I changed to Koni Sport Yellows (springs unchanged) and couldn't be happier.
So funny how VR takes sssl to lower it noticeably but my vt clubby was Sl’s all round anything more and id lose my front guard 🤣 springs will sag more overtime too 👌🏻👌🏻
I had a similar experience with a df ltd. Shortened Monroe shocks in the rear and ssls and it didn't seem low at all. After a few weeks it was noticeably slammed. Maybe give it some more time?
Less time at superpark and more videos mate just kidding enjoy it while you don’t have to chase him. Car height came up spot on but I’d keep the genuine parts if you intend to keep the car a while I made an extra $3k after selling my car for rubbish genuine parts
The suspension height is PERFECT. Monroe is a good aussie made brand, good choice.
Word for word what you said is 100% correct. I completely agree.

Glad it helped
Height is great. The IRS really drops the back when in gear so it would be lower when cruising
But I can’t see it then 😂
Yep, that’s a great ride height.
Geez that blue looks good in the sun.
It does!
Exhaust is one thing I’d love to see on this thing. You can always keep the stock one or sell it. Keep the original tips 👍🏻

Nice, you've managed to get it to sit just right. Not boy racer low, but low enough to make it aesthetically pleasing to your eye...
Yeh it’s a nice compromise I think
As long as you think it's perfect, that's all that matters.
Looks great! For that vintage car any lower just cheapens the look in my opinion
I totally agree!
Awesome channel....be nice to see you have a huge car garage to do all this in.
7 years and counting in a single garage, many builds come and gone
@MindieJ yeah it's been a bloody good channel to watch too.
Been waiting for this video, I think the ride height suits the look of the car.
Thanks Warren

Car was sky high standard and V6/V8 springs are different for that exact reason of engine weight

I was about to say the same thing-not only will those bushes be binded up now but they will tear due to the tension they are now on 👍
If you want to go lower in the rear, you can get BMW springs that fit.
Car looks good, love the channel.
Springs not suited to the car, would ride like crap
Perfect! Beauty of a car mate

Thanks 👍
It looks good mate the rear will go down bit more once it settles my vs was the same back in the day..👍🏼👍🏼

Not something for me
Sits jus right maybe another 5mm on the rear cause u don't want rubbing or speed hump issues

That would be cool
Yeah, I think it's OK Chris you can do longer if you wish up to you mate.
Unless you need the $, keep the original struts and parts you take off
