    I've been doing some research on skin care routine for my dark spots on black skin. And I stumbled across one of your video this weekend. Since than I've been hooked, subscribed and watched all your skin care videos. I just love your energy and style. Thank you so much for your skin care advice especially, how black woman should wear sunscreen. Keep up with the good work. Farmata from UK!

    So, I feel the same about the that Oat Cleansing Balm. I was so excited to try it as it was raved about and promoted on the Sephora site under anti-aging. Used as a cleanser, my skin was a hot greasy mess AND there was still a good amount of dirt left on my skin!!! I am waiting for stores to open so I can return it. The retinol is so-so for me. Good price point but feels cheap. I do love their A,C,E moisturizer. It's perfect for the warmer months and I have their PHA toner which I'm loving as well, but it would fare better when it gets cooler. The moisture is insane! I much rather The Ordinary. Same price point but the products, as well as packaging are on a step above.

      I agree from what I tried-The Ordinary seems a step above! Heyyy, boo!

    Love the Oat Cleansing Balm! What is your main sunscreen you use on a daily?

      Hey! For face typically either Olay Sun Shine Protection SPF 35 but I also just bought another Murad Oil Control moisturizer + SPF. But this is because it’s getting warmer out. Both are bomb so I just use whatever floats my boat. For body, typically whatever is on sale but I tend to like Neutrogena Beach Defense.

    I like that that's a budget friendly option to try stuff out. You know my skin care regimen is minimal but if I decide to add to it, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg! So it's nice to have less costly options

    Hello Friend! I am using the retinol from inkey list right now. I just want to go slow and steady. Did spot test it. I got it with the polyglutamic acid duo. They say the Poly is better than Hylaronic acid. It seems fine at night since it has a sticky consistency on my face. Can't complain, skin is not dry or overly oily in the morning. 🤗 Cheers!

    I have used this brand for a while and these are my faves:
    Salicylic Acid Cleanser- this is the real MVP!!!!
    Lactic Acid - it's my main exfoliating acid and love it!
    Niacinamide - good all rounder.
    Polyglutamic acid - good night time hydrating product!
    Their Hyaluronic acid is good as well but I have moved on to the NIOD MMHC but would use this one again!

    Was first introduced to the inkey list by another sknlincare youtuber. First product i tried was the vitamin c which I didnt like. It was a sticky white paste that didn't blend well to the skin and it stung me! So that was a no.
    I tried their alpha arbutin for my dark spots and I liked it. It was a moisturizing serum. Thing is I don't think their products are that affordable despite their low prices because the quantity is small. And the packaging for the alpha arbutin was like the retinol you was talking about, easy to dispense too much product.
    I didn't bother with the retinol because another youtuber said it wasn't that much and it wasn't listed high up in the ingredients list. I wanted something effective but not too irritating that was an alternative to the ordinary ones (I tried their retinoid which was a serum first but they sold out of that and I don't care for their oils; dont want to put oils on my oily face ). I'm using the versed retinol serum with bakuchiol which I'm liking so far (have you tried versed products? If so can you do a video on them? I know you featured their mineral sunscreen in your last video which i was thinking of getting but I'm waiting for my purito comfy water sun block to arrive).
    I used their brighten-i eye cream which has mica in it so it can be kinda shimmering (and I mean if you use too much it can pass for a highlighter 😆). I liked it but starting to get the feeling that eye creams are a waste of $$ so I didn't repurchase.
    I have their glycolic acid and pha toners because I wanted a gentler alternative to the ordinary glycolic toner cuz it be stinging! Basically I wanted a gentler chemical exfoliant. I tried the glycolic side by side with the ordinary's version and I like the inkey list better. Haven't tried the PHA one yet. I'll do that once I finish the ordinary.

      Heyyy! Thanks for sharing this!
      You can actually use face oils on oily skin. Not all oils are the same of course, but some can mimic the feel of skin’s sebum which helps to trick the skin into not producing as much oil so it’s more balanced.
      Bakuchiol is a pretty popular “retinol alternative.” Thing is any of these OTC retinols or alternative retinols take time to see results because they’re all not as potent as prescription retinoid. I have a video about this coming up and which ones people should look for so stay tuned.
      It’ll be a long while before I personally try anything from Versed. I have so many other video topics in my pipeline that it’ll be hard to get to that.

    Thanks for trying it out. Since I had heard it being compared to The Ordinary, I suspected it wouldn't work for me. I figure I'll go with my gut instinct. Too bad, because the price point is pretty attractive. I am more intrigued by the Naturium line. Those formulations look a little less basic.

    I'm interested in the oat cleansing balm. I'm looking for a cheaper cleansing balm. I've tried Clinique (I love it but it's tooexpensive), Ponds Cleansing Balm (good but too fragrant), and Simple Cleansing Oil (meh, not that effective for a full beat).

      My skin doesn’t tolerate retinol very well either. I have tried it using multiple brands and usually within one or two applications, I notice redness and sensitivity and inflammation. However, I learned that Bakuchiol gives the same benefits as retinol without the irritation. I tried the inky list bakuchiol and I love it. I’m only a week into it but my skin texture is already improving with ZERO irritation!

    Can I use that retinol I have hyperpigmentation and sensitive skin?

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes but go slow with it and use a gentle option first. Patch test first and then slowly introduce it into your routine just a few nights a week and then see how your skin handles it before you use it nightly.

    Hi! I was wondering did your oat cleansing balm end up separating and becoming more oily than staying balm like? Thanks! Subscribed!!!

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiii! Thanks for subscribing! I stopped using it after testing it for this video. But it could be that it melted some because it was kept in a place where the temperature was a bit warm. If I remember correctly, it was never one of the thicker balms like the Versed Cleansing Balm or Clinique Take the Day Off balm.

    I know this is an older video so idk if you’ll see this but, I’m looking for a retinol just because I was told we should start using them in our mid 20’s. I don’t really have too many issues with my skin , so would this one be good just as a step added to my routine?

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Marissa!! Yes, starting a retinol in your 20s is a good idea even if you don’t have any current pressing skin issues. It can be a preventative/protective method along with using sunscreen during the day. The Inkey Retinol is pretty gentle so a good place to start and the price is pretty palatable lol
