If you didn't visit it when you were on the Coromandel Peninsula, make sure to check out the DOC campground at Broken Hills, near Hikuai, as it's probably one you'll really want to stay at. Apart from being right next to a river, it has a large bridge to 'no-where', old gold mining camps and tunnels, and interesting bush walks.

Beautiful. I loved to be living far away of cities in NZ. Traveled by small camper van 6 times thru NZ. Now, my age allowed me not to visit NZ again.

Hi, thanks for answer. 6 years ago I emigrated from Munich Germany to Romania. I sold all my mess and bought a house near Alba Julia in the fantastic carpathian mountains. I met a young Rumänien family in Munich who liked to go back. I sad ok, I come with you and help. There are two child 5 and 11 who are learning german and english languages with me. Its much better than vegetate in a expensive retirement home. I'm 77 you know. That's my short story. I feel good. 😉
