Thank you. In 1951 I was a student nurse in Hampsread General Hospital, which I believe does not exist anymore. It was lovely to see the old houses. The rest of Hampstead is not recognizable - after all I was there 71 years ago. Again, thank you. I enjoyed.
I'm a local and really enjoyed your calm and tranquil prospective of this very special part of London. So many guides concentrate on the consumerism here but you genuinely captured the spirit and atmosphere and the diverse places of interest. Thank you :)
i grew up in Hampstead. We lived in a rented top floor flat ( when rents were cheap!!) on the top of a hill ( Arkwright Road) in a huge Victorian house with gargoyles, marble pillers, mosaic floors, stained glass windows all the way up a huge oak staircase. And we had an almost 360⁰ view over London from the flat. Extraordinary. Of course , at the time, I took it all for granted. But what an beautiful place Hampstead was to grow up. i went to school on the edge of Hampstead Heath, and walked across the Heath everyday to get there and back. Very privileged indeed when I think about it. And all that walking did us good too.
Herbert, how long ago was this ? Indeed you do sound so lucky to have grown up there especially your home sounds absolutely wonderful and with those views ... wow .
I lived in Golders Green, Hendon and Highgate but went to Hampstead all the time and had many friends who lived there. I filled in part time when it was busy behind the bar at the Flask where I was a regular and we enjoyed the Well's, Holly Bush and I used to go to the Nag's Head almost every night before that. A very nice bit of London.
Great tour, very well filmed. Didn't realise how nice it is or that there is so much more to it than the heath, have to say now Hampstead would be the place I would chose to live in London if I could afford it!!
@@kevins2875 That's really cool ... earlier today when another channel , I found a comment from an elderly woman who said she lived there in Hampstead in 1951 for nursing school at the hospital which she said is no longer there . She also said a lot of it had changed so much that it wasn't recognizable . I was trying to imagine what it was like there 70 years ago . Yeah looks like a really cool place to live
Wonderful video of Hampstead.👍 So professional and interesting. I don't think there's another capital city in the world that has so many fascinating places to visit, though I'm sure some might disagree
