I found Gabrielle Roth and 5r on TH-cam in 2011. I was lying in bed, exhausted and like a wreck, in recover after chemo. I enjoyed looking at sailing, dancing and First Nation chanting on TH-cam. Suddenly this litle image saying "5 Rythms" came up on the side, and I was thinking "Only 5 rythms?!..whats that? There are more than 5 rythms...there are rythms all over.." So i clicked and it all threw me out of bed. I really felt it like a wave starting from the feet-end of my bed when i saw the dancers and listened to Gabrielle Roths words. I finally had found the dancing people I have had in my dreams, dancing home alone since early childhood. I ran around a few minutes thinking "I have to go to New York" Then i collapsed - because of the heavy fatigue that had followed after the months chemo. The doc's had told me that in worst case I had 3-5 years left to live. I had stopped my cancer treatment Because my whole being told me stay away from the radiation the doc's wanted me to get done, on my left side where they had removed my left breast. But that is where the heart is. I refused to do radiation there. Instead I spent my litle savings buying an old sailboat, because if I only had 3-5 years left, that was something I always had missed for so many years; being on the sea, feeling the waves, the sounds of sea-space.. New York was too far away for my body at that moment. Back in bed, in 2011, I looked up 5rythms and then I found Hege Gabrielsen, 5r- teacher in Oslo. I went to my first 5r workshop there in 2014. It was like coming home❤️ I didnt know anyone there, but yet I felt home. Flow, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness - Thank you Gabrielle Roth for breaking down the "billions" of rythms I've been wondering about, into 5. They truly are moving me towards a greater understanding, in whatever I am doing. And the years have been moving on too.. Great spirit - all over ❤️

Absolutely beautiful. I found her during a very difficult time in my life, she helped open up a door I didn't know was there to open. I'll always love her, and feel immense gratitude for her being her, sharing.

This is simply wonderful. What a joy to hear from some of the people who Gabrielle inspired. May our ability to connect with the dance (in every sense) continue to evolve and expand, in honor and homage to Gabrielle and her powerful work!
