Apologies for the video quality and the sound cut out in the middle of the video. For the Cut sound, this is what I was saying "Harshnag throws a rock at the giants while they talk and charges them, roll initiative and the party will help Harshnag out" I really wanted to get this video out so a few mistakes were made with the camera and during edting, I'll make sure both get fixed for the next video coming next tuesday. Let me know if there are any questions or ideas in your head about how the party could meet Harshnag outside of these two scenarios!
Gamma!!! Love your videos! A couple of questions for my campaign with Harshnag and the Eye: (WARNING - SPOILERS!) 1. How I introduced Harshnag in my campaign: The party met Harshnag after completing the “Flying Misfortune”. They returned to Zephyros in his cloud castle which was a few feet off the ground when suddenly, Harshnag’s axe comes flying through a window cutting off the hand of Zephyros holding his navigation orb. (He later restores his hand with a spell scroll) Harshnag confronts Zephyros asking whether he remains loyal to the king (Hekaton) or not. After a conversation in giant, they agree with the party to go to the Eye using Zephyros’ library for clues on how to find it and Harshnag’s description of what it happening in the world. 2. First question: how do I get the party from the cloud castle to the Eye on foot? I was thinking that there would be blizzards and clouds full of lightning in the air creating difficult air travel to get to the Eye, so they would have to go by foot. (The lightning would cease after Iymrith leaves.) My problem is I make things too complicated. I want Harshnag and the party to really bond, but they haven’t been in any battles together. And I want them on the ground, but they already have a cloud castle. (I wanted Iymrith to slay Zephyros and destroy his tower while they were in the Eye.) I love your ideas of the two frost giants and I really want to include that as well as a difficult blizzard moment. 3. Second question: Do you think this encounter would work better on the ground or in the sky? I’m leaning toward the ground.
Kevin!! Thanks man, I'm late on the new vid but it'll be up soonish 🤣 And I've spent the last day thinking about your scenario. The only way i can think of you getting the players down to the ground without it seeming unfair/BS would be to have Sansuri's castle appear ahead of them and she casts sending to Zeph when she spots the castle. She tells him they need to talk now and shes heads her castle towards his direction. Zeph tells the players and Harshnag to get down quickly from behind the castle so Sansuri doesnt see them and go ahead to the temple. (This means they need to have an idea where it would be and its best to have it at like 2 or 3 days of travel on foot away from wherever they are, you dont need to have it be exactly where the book says, it doesnt matter overall.) Zeph tells the players to head out, as Sansuri has a huge castle filled with cloud giants, arakocras and seige weapons, they wont be able to fight her even with harsh and zeph in tow. Too risky. So he sends them on their way and tells them he'll meet them soon, he just needs to get Sansuri off his tail. Now you can follow the SKT dm supplement and still get zeph's castle to the temple so iymrith can destroy it. I would say these encounters would be better on the ground, but that doesnt mean you can't have an amazing air combat while on the castle tho. Thats just imo. Hope that helps!
Wow, that fits pretty perfectly. They had just had a side adventure in Sansuri’s castle. (A few of the party did a snatch and grab quest from Zephyros and stole a replacement navigation orb after his had been destroyed by a blue dragon.)
I have no idea what an SKT is or how do you stream it, but I love seeing your lips move man, have a nice one.
🤣
