This was such a great time for music. This album style was the perfect mesh of funky rap/metal. He'd Pe's first album, Sugar Ray's first album, Snot's first and only. Reveille and Crazy Town somewhat. Mushroomhead and Coal Chamber. I'd be happy if someone tried bringing this style back.
Check out Spineshank - Strictly Diesel Earth Crisis - Breed The Killers Vision of Disorder - Self Titled Manhole (Band) Downset - Do We Speak...? These were in my CD case back then too
Though I'm happy that Powerman 5000 still goes to this day, it's sad that none of the original members are no longer with the band (except for Spider One, of course). They looked like they had a great time making this music video together.
@@Beckonor Yeah, I remember playing Road Rash 3D and saw that Sugar Ray had several rockin' songs on it. Way different from that commercial garbage they put out.
Thanks Spider for the frequent changes in styles. He don't like to repeat himself, it's one of the reasons Anyone For Doomsday got shelved, it sounded to similar to Revolt said Spider.
I got to meet Jordan (ex PM5K drummer) a couple years ago. awesome guy, you should check out his project "Sons of Jupiter". Also super cool that my uncle played the hand percussion on this album.
Their bass player had some serious chops! what happened on the next albums? lol. I loved funk metal from the 90'd Faith No more, Living Colour, Rage Against The Machine, early Powerman etc.
+billyjoelsux FNM is the best band all time #1.. Living Colour is righteous.. Old PM5K is loaded with flavor and excellent - These opinions all share 1 common trait.. they are opinions..
How does this not have more views? I got this CD with my parents on my 11th birthday, and I'm 21 in a week and I still think it kicks ass. So sad that real rock and roll can't survive these days.
You can't NOT move to this. In the verses AND chorus, but in much different ways. This was the first PM5000 song I heard, and it blew me away! Then I found out Spyder was Rob Zombie's brother, you can kind of hear it in the chorus though. When Spyder yells, he sounds like Rob. The music, the lyrics, THE FEEL, yeah... LOVE THIS SONG!!! 2:21 "You know, Iris..." How many people know where the term "organizized" came from?
FACT: Vevo delivers kickass music videos without any sort of fee. As far as I an tell, they picked up what MTV dropped off with the added option of viewing whatever, whenever. So yeah, I'll take a 16 second ad for that any day
If anybody can find me any current band with a style anywhere near this, give it to me. Otherwise I'll just continue to cry myself to sleep because music isn't anywhere near as inventive as it was 20 years ago.
THE EMPTY SET None of those are any good. Ice Nine Kills is the only one getting any radio play out of those and they kinda suck ... royally. I think the OP was talking more the Zappa-ish funk and just overall saying FU to genres. Even PM5k here lost some of their funk with subsequent albums. The 90’s Rock seemed less scripted, less interfered with by studios, and had a much higher chance of getting avant grade stuff out in the mainstream.
I would walk to hell and back for Powerman 5000. I dislike the censorship, but for free music videos I'm alright with it. If I was really worried about the song I would be on a lyric video instead, as most of those aren't censored
Not bad...though I'm more into the sound they're putting out now. I can see more of the resemblance of his brother Rob and him in this video than at his age now.
I miss old industrial PM5K and Spyder's sayan hair. Although "Destroy what you enjoy" has some good tracks and "Somewhere on the other side of nowhere" heads back to the sci-fi theme that made them famous, you see that it is not spontaneous as it once were.
The lack of recognition in the past was stupid unfair. PM 5000 is timeless.
@Andrea Smith don't tell him to get real. Not everyone likes/dislikes the same things.
I agree. Such a great band
Killer album, peak Worcester/Boston tasty groove rap rock metal

Same also I love all the bands on this list lol 🥁🔥💯🤟🏼🎸 funk metal 4 life
Uhhh, I can see your hip to the good shit, you named bands most people have never heard of, but are fucking jewels!
Check out Spineshank - Strictly Diesel
Earth Crisis - Breed The Killers
Vision of Disorder - Self Titled
Manhole (Band)

Ha, I grew up with this stuff too!
You got your wish lol. The young kids in 2024 are bringing nu metal back! Haha🤘

True That bro, u gotta love Al3, Adam12, Dorian27, and Jordan
Yeah miss the old.band members. .
I wonder what the old member are doing now
Couldn’t agree more. These guys were fun together. I love True Force and Mega Kung Fu Radio.
@@Ultimateking25 the percussionist was/is in the blue man group
Man, I really love this album. It's too bad they abandoned this style to sell more records.
Both Incubus and Sugar Ray started out as Funk Metal as well and also abandoned the style.
@@Beckonor Yeah, I remember playing Road Rash 3D and saw that Sugar Ray had several rockin' songs on it. Way different from that commercial garbage they put out.
This album is great. No bad tracks on it. Still listen to it a lot.
Thanks Spider for the frequent changes in styles. He don't like to repeat himself, it's one of the reasons Anyone For Doomsday got shelved, it sounded to similar to Revolt said Spider.
@@Casketkrusher_ True. I wish they’d make more albums like Mega Kung Fu Radio, though.
Spider during this era was maybe the most quirked up a white boy has ever been

Please don't compare these clowns to Faith No More and Living Colour. Vernon Reid and Billy Gould have dropped turds with more talent than Powerman
Cool story bro.
I do miss the funk mixed with a metal sound
Like Marilyn mansons mechanical animals
Or korns got the life
Honestly we need to bring that back

Not_a_Billy_Joel_Fan Living colour are One hot wonders lol, and FNM are overrated AF
Spider One is so fucking hott with those sideburns. He should've kept them!
ONGG
SO TRUE

used to listen to this shit in jr high, popped into my head today for some reason. glad i just listened to it again, this shit was killing it
Gotta love the 90s fashion era XD
The funky version of Rob Zombie 🥁🔥💯🎸🤟🏼 Spider is fucking cool just like his brother

This album will always kick ass, no matter how much time goes by.
man, you were 20 when you posted this comment and now you're about 33? time flies fast as hell...
I'm 26 in a week!
This song has the greatest groove!!!!!!!❣️❣️
This album still goes hard.
Whoa. The nineties have been perfectly summed up in one video. 👏 Tight work.
Caught these guys live while promoting this album. Amazing show!
As soon it started I was like AWW SHIT He's gettin funky!!!

Yes. Before they joined that pussy label by kockinmouth kings, and gross juggalos influenced them.

They did anyway. Their more recent albums suck.

powerman 5000 is a great band
I just wish they would come out with some new music. I have not heard anything from them in a long while
They put out a new album a few weeks ago called Builders of The Future. Look up the song How to be a human.
This album is the one you must have from these guys. The rest ehhh not so much. But kung-fu radio. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
i love powerman and, i am feel happy ilove!
Acting skills and expressionism of SpiderOne compensated for the lack of ones of the rest of the band. A true artist!
Taxi Driver...
Is this some kind of chill metal? Great track.
Nice, Spyder has the exact same sideburns and goatee look as me.
This album was good!
*Great
Gettin organizizzed
This is what Rob Zombie would be like if he was calm
Amazing record!!!
Hell yeah. Their best.
I saw powerman at the waaf (boston, mass) Beach party it was in the winter, they blew everyone off the stage.
Powerman5000's New album Builders Of The Future is coming out this summer rocks makin a comeback!
The music sounds like a cheesy porno. Well, until the moments that happen at times such as 0:40 that is
PM5K 20+ Years!!! 🤘
Vivid memory of driving around getting stoned out of my mind to this album with some friends in the 90's.
Same here, but I still do the same. Lol.
@Kry Kry Stott I'm also 20 nice to meet you
This album kicks ass. By far their best.
