Love this video! Thank you. Had a question. Is it possible to convert environment nodes? I have a “Moving Skies” add on and was wondering if there’s a way to convert the backgrounds to Octane Render.
@@archivizual4236 By the way, sadly it does not work on the new addon version of Blender Octane, using Blender 3.6 LTS. (It cant find "Octane Geometry" key). I will try to debug myself if I have some time :(
Hey i have this error message when i convert my material : Python: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\benja\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.6\scripts\addons\cycles2octane-master\addon\operator\convert_nodes.py", line 152, in execute self._convert_node_tree(mat.node_tree) File "C:\Users\benja\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.6\scripts\addons\cycles2octane-master\addon\operator\convert_nodes.py", line 55, in _convert_node_tree replaced_node = NodeReplacer(node).new_node File "C:\Users\benja\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.6\scripts\addons\cycles2octane-master\addon\utility ode_replacer.py", line 107, in __init__ new_node = self._run_node_post_function( File "C:\Users\benja\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.6\scripts\addons\cycles2octane-master\addon\utility ode_replacer.py", line 273, in _run_node_post_function new_node = node_function(new_node, node) File "C:\Users\benja\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.6\scripts\addons\cycles2octane-master\addon\utility\cycles2octane_post_functions.py", line 172, in OctaneUniversalMaterial new_node.inputs[6].default_value = 0 TypeError: bpy_struct: item.attr = val: expected a string enum, not int Can you help me ?
Olá, então esse addon na verdade foi criado pela minha empresa para ajuda no workflow interno do time de produção, infelizmente ele nao ta disponivel na internet. Mas tenho certeza que no blendermarket tem algo bem parecido! :)
At this point you think your team is capable of writing code to convert typical cycles nodes, is it technically at all possible to make it work in just one click? First of all, can it manage to recreate the same shader that was created in cycles, using these specific nodes. Still, good job, even though it's a developmental version, this may convince many to try blender octane .
Hi AliG, I hope I have something better soon, honestly the way it was designed is working more then fine for my company, as we had too many models from 3ds max and we are still not intersted in models already built in blender. So the plan to start working on the addon again is in abou 2 months
it converts the nodes , but the displacement node is messed up because it's not the proper node , it converts into a cycle node for the displacement so it's not working and it's connected to "octane geometry" in the material output , same for the normals , you change the settings of the bump or the normal ..it doesn't do anything ,otherwise , yeah it converts the map ..but as soon as you have a more complex materials ..it's over ..better to bake honestly ,octane on blender is garbage anyway ..i mean i know i sound harsh ..but come on what are they doing at otoys , how many years octane in blender has been in dev and still no node wrangler for octane , people have to make addon to have a converter ..issue all the time i mean .it's just a shame ,they're just lazy , that's why barely nobody use blender octane, it's not against you man , but i feel like people put efforts , while it's the job of the company
Hi Paul, as I said in the video, this addon was developed to help my company convert models from 3ds max to blender, and for this purpose, it is working more than fine. Also, I said in the video that you may find problems converting objects already made in blender for example objects from Imeshh. As for your complaints about Otoy, I agree with you, it is a shame they didn't build any converter yet!!!! So frustrating! Unfortunately, octane is still much better than Cycles, and that's why it is still worth it!
cant thank you enough bro. blender community is overwhelmingly supportive
Happy to help!
You truly saved hours of my workflow with releasing this addon i really cannot thank you enough ... i love you man
Great to hear!
Hey man, awesome add on. Any word on 4.0 compatibility?
its not...
Thank you so much for this, saves me hours of work every month now!
Glad it helped!
Will this work with blender 4.2?
Could you tell where your 3ds max library mainly comes from? Especially when it comes to vegetation and small interior design items.
Hi. This library has been created on my company and it has more than 15 years. But I can give some sources: Evermotion and Maxtree.
Man it works with Diffeomorfic, Thx!!
You are welcome

Yes you can! use random map with gradient map
Thanks so much for this! I was thinking about creating something similar but as with all good ideas, someone else done it already :D
:)

same here on blender 4.0
Same here, trying to debug but still can't find solution.
Yeah.. definitely a Blender 4.0 issue it seems. Most add ons are broken unless updated
Thank you very much u fr saved me
Happy to help
Olá, onde podemos encontrar o plugin para efetuar relink aos mapas?

it shows all the textures in object mode but not render
Why this add-on isn't capable of converting materials of botaniq assets?
this addon is still in development, soon I will resease a new version

Interesting, Wish It Will be improved to be used in most of cases. (Btw, Octane actually have a node pretty identical to color ramp)
It will ! I hope soon!
Make a video comparing octane and cycles.
octane looks better right of the bat , that's why it's frustrating , imagine octane working with every cycles addons and stuff ...
I will :)
Yeah, it doesn't work at all
as I said it will work perfectly if you are converting the objects from 3ds max to blender using the max to blender addonn

There is a node wrangler octane edition but sometimes crashes
