    If you want a straight tab, follow this:
    chord - beat - open E - beat - hammer on 7th, TOP of the guitar, Pull off - 2 beats, Hammer on 5th, Pull off - beat - hammer on 5th, TOP of the guitar - hammer on 7th

    You know what’s crazy, I’m also learning how to finger drumming and the sequence concept and taking slow is keyyyyyy! It eventually sinks in after you let it breathe after practice. Thanks for the video!!!

    A few people here debating whether the top e string is picked by the right hand. It's true that Newton doesn't play it this way, but I think Johannes' version is probably a touch easier. It's actually done with a cheeky left hand flick of the string most of the time. But that's also very difficult. Doing it with the right hand restricts where you can play the body percussion, plus it sounds a bit too loud. And a pull off (as some have suggested) can't possibly work ALL of the time because some bars (like the second verse chord) end with the open string instead - meaning there's no finger on fret 7 to start the next pattern. See th-cam.com/video/qvh2e_Tc78Q/w-d-xo.html where he does it with LH flick, but at the end of the video uses the pull off.

    Amazing. Taking this slow, but I'm at the point of being able to pick out the top string with the chords and drumming. Must practice this for a few hours then (try to) add in the melody. Thank you.

    I find it much easier to just pull off the high e string from the 7th fret rather than pick it and you are already in position for the hammer on and rest of the legato

    OMG. Dude. This is one of those songs that I’ve always wanted to learn but never been able to find the patience to try. The way you’ve Broken down the structure has really helped me start to understand how to play it. Have you managed to work out how to sing and play it yet?

      Bruh I learned from the legend that JMoltz when he first uploaded it. Mad props how quickly he 1: Interpreted it / 2: Mastered playing it / 3: Simplifying it / 4. Graciously share hard-earned knowledge (the man knew how many other have seen this and would LOVE to be able to play...
      I still play, this tune.... the altered tuning became too bothersome 🙄

    • @wyldeatart1914
      @wyldeatart1914 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sticklebrickz yeah I’ve not played it for a while my self. Probably because it’s the only DADGAD song I’ve wanted to learn to play. And I’m too lazy to keep retuning. Lol

      Then slow it down and play that thing note for note for note one after the other, so slow that it stops making musical sense. once you can play the correct notes in the correct order you can try and speed it up. but first, go so slow that it stops being a piece of music and begins to be a set of simple movements. good luck!

    It's not as complicated as this, there's no pick at all on the top E string. I spent time learning this method, recorded it and it was incorrect. Scrutinised Newton's live versions and turn's out it is easier than this.

    • @TheZenEffect
      @TheZenEffect 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a pick on the top E string, it's just that after a while you can learn to pluck the open string with your left hand rather than an extra move with your right.
      That said, I agree that it's marginally easier but really the crux of the song is getting all three elements to sync rather than the minutae that inevitably follows.
