Da Lat - Trai Mat Viet Nam Tourist Railway April 2023

The Da Lat - Trai Mat Railway is a restored section of the former Da Lat-Thap Cham railway. The original railway connected Da Lat to the main North-South railway of Vietnam. you can at least get an idea of the old railway by riding on a 7 km restored section from Da Lat city out to Trai Mat to visit the famous Linh Phuoc Buddhist Pagoda. The trip only takes about 30 minutes each way and there is a stop at the station where the pagoda is located.

🎉Da Lat city is the great and best place near HCMC that is Saigon. Overnight bus ride easy trip from TP HCM to TP DaLat even the buses leave right near Pham Ngu Lau & Bui Vien for the foreigners in District-1 its a super easy bus ride.

This is interesting since the Dalat rail line is no longer connected to the rest of the Vietnam Railway network.
It now operates only as a tourist short line. However, it is operated by the state-owned railway.
In the north of Viet Nam there is another route, from Ha Noi to Thai Nguyen which operates a mixed-freight/passenger service daily. However I am not sure if that route is still in operation, I rode it some years ago. They would actually cut out the passenger cars and perform some shunting with the locomotive en-route which was a nice break time 🙂
