Beautiful theme on banknotes. The Portuguese 50 Escudo! Best off-set register I've seen. Very cool OK - the 1951 Bulgarian notes? Had to get the entire set! Great series issue and very, very inexpensive and larger size notes! "Some Commie Guy!" Yes, he was something! Beautiful reverse on that. Thanks for sharing.
You did it to me again. You missed my favorite rose note, Laos 1957 100 Kip. The reverse on it is so beautiful. It is the note that made me a collector. The women on the back is stunningly beautiful holding a basket of roses. The hat on the 100 Escudos Portugal, Do you see the snake eating an elephant or a man's hat? Get it? Check your library for Exupery's The Little Prince. It is a quick easy read but very thoughtful book.
Regarding the hat, I do get it. I saw an image that was supposed to have inspired Exupery. I saw easily the hat in that picture, but I could also see the little kid who thought a snake had swallowed something...
I really love that Portuguese note (though I am biased - I am of Portuguese descendance). I don't have the first one in my collection, but I do have the second note. I also love the back of that Czechoslovakian bank note. Thanks for sharing!

I have always thought that those Bulgarian notes were well made.

I love that note. But I had it pulled for another purpose...it is a beautiful note I agree...
