    I bought this is 2021, it was the first thing I bought with my First paycheck. I wouldn’t change it with any other turntable, not only does it look beautiful but it sounds amazing aswell.

    This is perhaps The absolute best unpacking and mounting and adjusting video about Turntables. And you believe me in my qge Ive seen a lot of them and not so few are just aweful. Care and relavent tips and methods and clear Camera work will make it a breese to all of you first time Turntables fans and even some Turntables veteran. And important as he tells you - be carefull, foresighted, prepare and absolutely no hurry! Take Your TIME because this is an important investion that will give you many hours of love and joy of Your not cheap and sensitive finetuned gear that will have a longer live left than many of those Who are over 25 Years old. I bought my Thorens TD-160 FIFTY YEARS ago about 1974 and it still works perfect with my newly cleaned cartridge MA Micro - Acoustic 2002-e bought about 1976 after 35 to 45 years pause. So listen and follow his instructions to carefully guys! So a lot of thanks to this Guy! ❤️😀👍

      @@Mr.HotRod This is a great idea and I may make a new video in the near future. It's quite easy connecting it to a speaker or amp, everything is labelled on the back. Connecting to Sonos took some trial and error but once I figured it out I laughed at how easy the process is.

    Hey guys, I just wanted to share a small tip that I just recently discovered;
    The manual states 2 grams for the tone arm weight which was what I've been using for the last 3 months (2.03g). Everything was perfect until I started collecting records that were in more used conditions. The records with damage in the grooves (1 record even brand new and came scratched) will have a tendency to skip at a certain part of the record. Light scratches it only happened once or twice, but the heavily used records, some of them will skip every single time at the exact same part of the song.
    THE FIX
    ____________
    Increasing the tonearm weight to 2.25 -2.40 completely eliminated the skipping on the records I was experiencing it with. I'm sure even 2.50 - 2.60 would still be good and not damage your records, but I spent some time experimenting the limits of how light I can go, and 2.20 - 2.25 was definitely the sweet spot , I'd say closer to 2.25. If you're experiencing any skipping, I would recommend increasing your tonearm weight by increments of 0.10 and keep going until you find the sweet spot. If you don't have a tonearm scale, no worries, the tonearm weight has small lines in-between the numbers that indicate .10 decimal. Just gently increase it 1 notch at a time and re play your record to see if you're getting any skipping. Use a heavily used record with clear scratches for the best results.
    Hope this helps and ask away if you guys need help with this or anything else :)

    • @johngore5127
      @johngore5127 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Make sure your cartridge alignment is good too. This will effect the angle the stylus rides in the groove. If you've got some worn records perhaps get a cart that will track them better and keep the better one for your newer records.

      I've got a separate cart for 78s (3.0 mil tip), a cart for mono records (stereo really only came out in 1970 so all your 45s are pretty much mono until then and need a different cart to track them properly), and then another one (usually elliptical, but there are other shapes to play with too) for all those other records, used and new, that will track according to their needs. Have fun.

    • @septiseptimiu8287
      @septiseptimiu8287 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry, increasing VTF is not the proper fix! People have tendency to set antiskating as high as VTF, so 2 for VTF and same 2 for antiskating, which is wrong! I use a test record to set antiskating and according to the track test antiskating ended up at 1 for VTF of 2 grams! Everything plays awesome! 😉

    Before you position a tonearm, you must adjust the feet until the turntable is perfectly level. Using a bubble level position at the center of the turntable is best. Only then can you rely on a scale and counterweight to be accuratw

    Josh : I should like to congratulate you for this excellent and so useful video. I had one week before to take a decision on this same turntable, same color too. You have well made the difference between the two black wheels of the arm. It is delicate to arrive to the perfect balance. Never no one has ever spoken to me about the digital dynamometer to adjust the weight of the arm. I have ordered one. What a nice tool ! I am at 1.95. Amazing ! You have shown us, step by step, how to settle the turntable.And I have taken all your comments. With all the details that you have given, I have decided to buy it. The day after, it was delivered in front of my door. When I have opened the cardboard, the box, I was surprised. The best turntable that I have had in my life. @@joshs3905 Hello Josh. Sorry that you do not live in my street and be my neighbour, it should be better for me. I have an other question and I thank you to offer me it. Do you think that the stabilizer Audio Technica AT 618 is necessary to produce a better sound ? Even if the engineers have created it, may be the turntable could have a problem with its speed. Really I should appreciate to have your idea. Marianne, my swiss wife, loved so much this «copper« color. More than the silver one. Me too. Hello, Josh ! And have the best future ! I hope you will prepare other musical or electronic videos. Daniel

    • @joshs3905
      @joshs3905  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@danieltessier4211 I don't think you need to buy anything else right now to get better sound or stability. When you set up the turntable you can also set up the feet and use a leveller to make sure that it is sitting perfectly flat. Aside from that, I would just enjoy it right now and slowly upgrade as you go. There are some high end cartridges that you can upgrade down the road and you can even upgrade your platter mat to something like acrylic which will probably look better and it may have a slight improvement on sound. But the stabilizer you mentioned, I have not ever felt the need to buy it and I have had this turntable for over 2 years now

Because you have used this turntable since 2 years and you do not feel that the stabilizer will be useful. I take your idea. If I can help you from the Canada, I am there. I am a writer. Last year, I have ended a novel of science fiction, fantasy and romance of 438 pages, written in four months, twelve hours by day. Hey Rich, I hope this video will be of help to you in making your decision.
      I think it's a fantastic turntable for the price, especially if you can snag one while it's on sale. The previous generation had a few features that were more ideal for DJ'ing like the rewind feature and the Tonearm height adjustment. This new model seems to be steered more towards average listening and still keeps the whole "DJ turntable look". So far with 4 months of owning it, I've got nothing but good things to say, sounds great and is very easy to maintain and make adjustments to.

The platter mat literally glows with any lighting on it, and when you sit far away you can see the edge of the platter mat glowing as well and it's very nice for seeing how the flutter is. I read reviews about the sound making a difference and didn't think it was true, very shocked when I heard a difference in bass and clarity. It almost completely eliminated static, made the bass sound a little tighter and clear, and cleared up the mids slightly. No records slipping either which was a big surprise. • @joshs3905
      @joshs3905  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No not a dumb question at all, the speakers I'm currently using are a Sonos setup and they actually work very well. Nice thing with Sonos is that after you go through the setup on your phone, it's one of the easiest systems to operate. I can change the volume and pair up speakers on the spot from my phone. If you go Sonos, I'd recommend either 2 Play 5's paired together, or you can even do 1 Play 5 and 2 Play1's. But the 2 play 5's will probably be your best bet. The more traditional method is to connect 2 bookshelf speakers via the RCA jacks, I'm sure you can find decent ones for a good price. But me personally I went the Sonos route and it has been great. Very fuss-free, the only pain is when you change internet and have to set up everything again.

Personally I never cared for the auto stop unless I am doing something away from the TT or if I'm letting someone inexperienced use it while I'm not there. I'm almost certain that the 1 or 2 times you may leave it spinning, is not going to harm your record or the turntable, at the very least just wear out your needle faster, which can always be replaced/upgraded anyways.

    You forgot about the strobe and the pitch adjust. These low end turntables come with strobe lights because you can't always trust them to spin at the right speed so the strobe enables you to check. Not that it works terribly well for this purpose. You can then adjust using the pitch control if the speed is off. Another thing you can do with the pitch control feature is of course you can change the pitch of the music to your taste and not be forced to listen to it the way the artist intended you to.

    I just got this tt. Had a electrical burnt smell first spin. Figured may be some oils inside burning off. Been using it and noticed a noise coming from spindle/bearing. A low humming/knocking sound. Bad bearing?

      Damn I'm sorry you're experiencing that. I don't think that's normal if I can take a wild guess. If you purchased it from a retailer I'd exchange it asap, I never experienced any burnt smells or any sounds with the spinning. My guess would be that there's either something rubbing against another part causing friction which is causing the sounds and the smell, or that the motor on the inside isn't running properly and may be overheating; but if I can guess it would be the parts rubbing together. did you purchase it new?
