What reptile would you buy if you had unlimited money?

    • @rpetersen2

Leucistic alligator snapper, or a Bob Clark high end retic to replace the one FWC forced me to sell outside the state after they illegally changed the class 3 permit law mid year in 2020. My last is a Croc monitor once I get a little more training with these monsters with tiger shark style serated teeth!! Love these guys!!!

A Vietnamese blue beauty bc I'm basic like that haha I just got my 'dream snake', a palmetto corn since they finally came down enough in price for me to not feel like a lunatic for buying one and I'm not super interested in owning a wide variety of reptiles or anything really rare or exotic. And I'm not interested in breeding, so getting investment animals isn't for me. So, if I had unlimited money, I'd dedicate a room to collecting cool morphs of corn snakes (my favorite snakes) and maybe throw in a blue beauty and a baron's racer as a treat.

While the reptiles aren't necessarily expensive, some can be so expensive to house and keep that I'd say they fit this category. For me, if money was no object I'd get an Asian Water Monitor but I'd give it a large zoo type exhibit with a large pond and glass under water viewing to see into the pond. I'd also do the same with a few crocodilians (including the underwater viewing.) They'd basically need their own building. That's why it's a dream.

No object? A Komodo wearing a crown, surrounded by a small army of large melanistic and albino monitors of other species. Not even close. They'd eat like 10 turkeys a day and have a whole ranch in Arizona or something

I imagine if you built that enclosure in your house you'd have to reinforce the walls as well so they don't dig through that drywall.

Mr. Petman in Florida has a monitor lizard, but I didn't look at the price tag.

What was the reason you did not end up getting the trio of monitors?

Probably an asian water monitor. The animals themselves are pretty expensive, but that's nothing compared to the massive enclosure with the heated and filtered pond they require.

Hundred Flower Rat snake. , Think of a gray rat snake that someone put red nail polish on the top of its head. Radiated tortoise,. I would love to get Blomberg's toads. Of course if I had money I could hire people to help with the maintenance ! More important than the animals!

I saw a guy who owned a Komodo Dragon. It was still very young so it posed no threat. But I would imagine the adult dragons would kill their owner without hesitation if given the opportunity.

If I had all the money in the world, I would definitely get a big monitor. You can get Savannah monitors captive bred in Sweden, there's an amazing lady who is breeding them here.
