What do zoologists think of your animal-themed Halloween decorations? They're terrible! What do they get wrong? And what do they get right? Clint takes a look at some horrifyingly inaccurate skeleton decorations to see what we can learn from these anatomically incorrect abominations.

Hey Clint Laidlaw, Why don't you get to think of a suggestion and creating a TH-cam Videos all about the 🪲Phylogeny Group Of Beetles🪲on the next Clint's Reptiles on the next Saturday coming up next?!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍

i love these Halloween videos, definitely do more 😊
but every year i have to go back to the first one to see THAT CAT 😂😂
Thanks for the recommendation!
I kind of want to see Clint "design" some fantasy creatures based off of real-life animal anatomy. Or Re-Design some that could be better, or simply make more sense with more realistic features, despite their magical or supernatural nature. (I like Birds that have those Carpal Spurs, or claws used for climbing, and have a single "Snow Owl" Harpy character from D&D (Based on the Aarakokra race) that has them for when Flight is not an option, or not easy. Also used as a thumb to grasp things when needed, but she mostly uses her feet.)
Don't think of them as skeletons belonging to any particular animal, think of them as bone golems built to -resemble- animals, then animated through magic.
Exactly
Why -crossed out-
I like to think of them as white plastic molded into bone shapes
@@YunxiaoChu
Because some people don't seem to notice that two dashes surrounding some text make it struck through.
@@theuncalledfor huh? -lemme try-
Don't you guys think Clint should analyze mythical creatures based on biology? Like hydras, basilisks, manticores, leviathans, etc. ?
That's a great idea!
Yes please, tho I remember reading Terry Pratchett's idea of how dragons work with horror and amusement.
Yes! That would be awesome!
Or do a joke pet review. Something like “Is a Basilisk the right pet reptile for you?”
I've always wondered how organ placement would work (and all the problems that this would entail) in a centaur.
35:35 the answer to "do you want a video about pterosaurs" is always a resounding YES PLEASE 😂❤
They're making them to mock you, Clint. Don't let them get away with this. You must retaliate
He can call his retaliation "Clint's newly-released line of anatomically correct animal skeletons (and exoskeletons and cartilaginous skeletons)".
@@CriticalofOnionsimagine he sold a scary snail exoSkeleton and you just get s shell 😂
“Look at the bones!!!” 😂🤣😂🤣
That just added ten years to my life.
The duck makes me wonder if artists do a good job making these animal skeletons (maybe they don't include one or two important features because they don't know how important they are or they simplify some things to make the final product more sturdy or the design easier to demold) and then clients send the design back because it doesn't look enough like the animal its supposed to be.
I would guess they know ducks don't have "tail feather bones" and add them to get more of a duck look. Ppl who buy halloween decorations don't care if they are completely accurate
Or they’re just making them for fun.
To be honest, these inaccurate skeletons are doing their job more than perfectly - they're SCARY. Especially if you know basic anatomy 😂
I reviewed the skeletons in my closet once. It was terrifying
But they were realistic, right? That's all that matters
Now you got me curious.....What skeletons in your closet?
@@napoleonfeanor one of um wasn't lol
@@sandradegraaff8932 different kinds. But they were all smiling
But did you checks the skeleton's closet for skeletons?
You should do a 'skeletons of shame' exhibit for Halloween.
Underrated comment
I have a feeling that with skeletons like the duck that are overall pretty accurate, but then have something ridiculous like long fingers, the artist was told by the producers that it's not spooky enough and needs more bones. Or the artist made a call that buyers would expect something more boney and added them for flair.
00:55 Clint: "I'm going to use one of my favorite words." I really hope it is "Toxicognaths"
We all knew what it was gonna be 😂
@@therongjr No we never know the outcome until the end. Statements "everyone knows" are the words of Narcissist and Salesmen.
...and here I was hoping for "baculum". ;-)
Nah, when you know someone like Clint you learn their mannerisms and so can prepare what they'll say or do. It's why one friend of mine will always be thinking of 69 when thinking of a number between 1-100
Everybody here knows Clint. So "everybody" knows the words Clint loves
It was either going to be toxicognaths or conglobate.
Never mind anatomically correct, all these models are way too massive and bulky, which totally defeats the purpose as it takes away the creepy factor. They're almost just the normal animal but in white...
Exactly
They are more ugly then scary or creepy
That video of a snail breathing was unexpectedly disturbing
I have a skeleton chameleon that’s reeeeeally obviously not anatomically correct. I was just happy to find a Halloween decoration that was a chameleon!
omg it's this time of year again!! Every time I pass a bad Halloween skeleton, I'm waiting for this moment!
This has become a Halloween tradition.
"There's more than one way to mess up a duck" will now be used as a regular phrase 😂🦆

I love it how happy Clint is when he can say "toxicognaths".
Band name: inappropriate sternums
Please do a video on pterosaurs:)
Dinosaur December is coming up 🤩
@@mrantssfpvpterosaur ptember
So we know it won't be then. 😊 Maybe he can do it for Archosaur April. Or for Pterosaur Pfebruary.
@@mrantssfpv Pterosaurs are not Dinosaurs, so it can't be then.
Yes I would love to see that!
Ah yes, my favorite time of the year, time to laugh at all the hilariously incorrect "skeletons" and that one weird cat figurine. You know ow the one.
The Year of Inappropriate Sternums would be a great title for a movie…
The rabbit sounds properly terrified and in pain with it's existence
Aaawww where is crazy kitty. Always enjoy seeing you and it lol. Happy Halloween
This is my FAVORITE new holiday tradition!!!
I think the company that made the adult duck just decided they would reuse their bat wings. Their inaccurate bat wings 😅
Good mornign clint, lgad to see you again 🤙 i visited my parents recently and they had almost every single terrible skeleton youve covered so far to make their "undead zoo" Halloween display this year. I thought it was incredible 😂
I remember seeing a cobra Halloween skeleton once. It had no ribs, its skull was solid, and its hood was made of solid bony protrusions that were seemingly fixed in the threat display position with how absolutely thick and close together they were.
He did that one
The smaller ducks look like rubber duckies made out of leftover bones...... And some random teeth......
The anatomically correct angler fish is way more creepy than that thing
Right?
You should release your own line of anatomically correct Hallowe'en skeletons, lol; I would totally buy them.
We have those snails in the Spirit Halloween I work at! I find them exceptionally cute.
Man the anglerfish real skeleton looks so much more epic!
literally!! i’m convinced the person who made it was going more for fun and spooky rather than scary because the real skeleton is much scarier and cool looking
Seeing Clint reference Tauros when talking about the "pterosaur" skeleton really surprised me. As a huge Pokémon fan, I loved it
I would really love to see a dedicated video on Pterosaurs. They're really interesting because they are one of 3 vertebrate lineages to achieve powered flight. I wanna know about their early evolution. Their phylogeny and diversity across the Mesozoic and why they didn't survive the end Cretaceous mass extinction when some birds did.
don't blame the artists for not looking at real skeletons, blame corporations for only wanting to sell unscientific decorations that "look more like animals"
I think its a lot more tongue in cheek than that although I do agree capitalism is terrible
I KNEW the word was gonna be "toxicognaths"!
My vote for worst skeleton is the pumpkin. How are you supposed to carve a jack-o-lantern out of that?
The rabbit sound made my feral kitty run inside to check 🤣
I'm a sucker for these kinds of things honestly, they're so ridiculous, I love them. I bought a cat skeleton with bone ears and defined nose in place of a nose hole yesterday. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the ever elusive spider skeleton with an abdomen ribcage.
'Mess up' a duck
Best euphemism this week
I think this is my favourite video of yours each year!!
I saw the rabbit and I wept…. YOU COULDNT EVEN GET THE LUCKY RABBITS FOOT RIGHT? you might have gotten the sound semi correct but FOR SHAME! THE BACK FEET IS WHAT MAKES THEM A BUNNY!
3:10 you know how many dirty jokes i can make with just your demonstration
Y'know, my dad is an orthopedic surgeon, so now I want to show him a human Halloween skeleton and have him roast the anatomy too 🤣
This is by far the best part of Halloween, I look forward to this every year.
Those smaller ducks are clearly rubber ducky skeletons.
Oh no they make noise now.
Honestly the actual angerfish skeleton that you showed looks genuinely terrifying and would've worked much better, though it might be more fragile idk. the one we actually got looks like it went on a huge diet, got stretched out a bunch and had its bones thickened.
I have one of the bone snails and I love it so much. It actually reminds me of a Junji Ito manga, but aside from that it's also hilarious.
I‘m not sure why „More tails than Tauros“ cracked me up so much
I've been looking forward to this video! Maybe next year you can include non-skeleton Halloween decorations, like spiders and/or bats. I see anatomically incorrect spider decorations all the time: legs attached to abdomens, missing pedipalps, etc.
Baby rabbit screaming jump scare 😂
Would be really interesting to see what these creatures would look like with flesh! Imagine how horrid the "snail" would look!
36:08 "I did mention a few years ago that I have a friend that was in Human Centipede"
Omg, are they doing alright?
The cut from a shot of a snake looking at a snail to the snake devouring it was hilarious
I was in Home Depot yesterday looking at the horses, dogs, and cats all complete with ears. There was also a cow with ears and also a tuft of hair at the end of its boney tail. 😅
Yes a pterosaurs video please!
You may have said this, but I’m guessing that, at least for some of these, the artist brought up a model of a duck skeleton, and then some corpo said “it doesn’t look enough like a duck.”
Realistically, that snail “skeleton” is absolutely horrible. Artistically, however, that is one of THE coolest things I have ever seen!
I'm an artist and I like making things that aren't really, specifically, I'm currently working on a series where I surround mythological and monstrous women in their favorite things (I have an extraterrestrial woman and a dwarven woman painted in a 3d environment of line doodles [like Zentangle™️] and hydrangeas respectively, in my yt shorts if your interested in seeing them) that I call _Wondrous Women With Their Treasured Things._ So I've seen my share of crazy skeleton art (pretty sure most of which occur near Hallowe'en, on your channel lol) and that snail is probably my favorite of the nearly unimaginably inorganic “animal” skeleton imaginings. If someone told me it was a cryptid, I'd believe them, being cryptids aren't real either lol, because it's so very well designed.
My favourite Halloween time video!!!!! Thank you Clint, I always look forward to your videos on Saturdays
In D&D 5e there's a 1st level necromancy spell where the caster lines up random bones in a shape and animates that, there's also true polymorph (a spell that lets you change the shape of target creature, i think that could get the spiral shell skull)
I am still waiting for some artist to try reconstructing these cursed skeletons.
3:08 making all the ladies wish they were a right handed snail shell
Oh gods, I knew someone was going to make this comment. 😂 I hope poor Clint doesn't see this... lol
Hope these series never ends
I've been reading Mark P. Witton's book "Pterosaurs", so not only did I greatly appreciate the wonderfully inaccurate pterosaur skeleton, but I would love a deep dive video!
(Also, that full size model is awesome!)
No cursed rodent cat this time D:
i like to think the people responsible for these, had ancestors who are also responsible for the sedlec ossuary and the french catacombs
Don't even get me started on inaccurate animal skeletons 😤 At the start of the year I took up the hobby of crocheting plushies, so I've been in JoAnn a lot recently for yarn.
And right now, the first thing you're smacked in the face with when you walk in the door are the animal skeletons... The skeleton pony has a freaking mane and tail!!!?? Why?! And they all have ears! 😫
I think I'll have to do all my yarn shopping online until Halloween is over 😑
YESSSS I look forward to this video every Spooky Season! Outrageous Ossifications! I love them! Eventually Clint's gonna have enough different frog skeletons to take them apart and use hot glue to put back together a 100% accurate frog skeleton lol
Oh the bunny….I’m not even going to acknowledge the snail 🫣 truly horrifying!
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!! I think of you everytime I see a goofy skeleton.
Those goofy things are designed to inspire horror only on zoologist and paleontologist.
My favourite Halloween tradition! Even though it's meant as just a fun thing to do, I've found it to be really helpful when learning about anatomy
Funny how you got so excited about the Brilliant ad read, like a little kid saying someting clever 😂
The ones that are an imaginary endoskeleton of mollusks, arthropods, and cephalopods are awesome. It's hilarious to see the skull of a snail or octopus.
I'm gonna save this til tonight when it gets all dark and spooky...
I've been looking forward to this all year! Let's gooooo!
Having a thousand of cursed plastic figures scream at my eardrums why Clint calmly says 'oh knuckles' is a underrated way to start a video
Ay that snail is kinda dope though
The necromancer used to be a woodcarver and now carves bones!
I'm always here for more pterosaur content!
And I want to make a suggestion to Halloween model makers everywhere who would like to portray a pterosaur: Just make a realistic standig pterosaur! Use something like Guidraco (one of my favorite pterosaurs) with its super weird teeth and just position it on all fours with its wing fingers pointing upwards. Those upwards pointing long bones automatically look so uncanny and odd because there are no modern animals with a comparable anatomy. Plus you'd make paleo nerds super happy and everyone knows that paleo nerds will pay too much money to get their hands on some cool new model. At least, that's what I infer from my experiences with... well, me.
The snail I think is based on horror manga story by junji ito. Basically a girl tongue turns into a slug. Her parents give her a salt bath to kill the snail but instead it shrunk her body only her head remaining with the slug.
I imagine an artist doing an anatomically correct skeleton and presenting to the company and them saying “that doesn’t look like a rabbit. Where are the ears and tail?” And the artist sighs “fine” and eventually presents this kind of stuff.
you have no idea how badly i needed this video😭
24:16 wow the glare that turtle is giving us 😂
This is glorious!! I can never look at dollar store Halloween models the same 😂😂😂
I love that you have a skeleton snail squad now. 🤣
You failed to mention that on regular rabbit skeletons, the battery case is on the back of the skull
A video on pterosaurs? Yes, please!
you should paint each of their "shells".
Fwiw, i think that omitting the gastralia on the gator skeleton is valid, for the same reason theyre usually not included in dinosaur skeleton mountings; theyre a pain to include in a way that looks good, since they just sort of hang there.
Anthropomorphizing knows no bounds, @ClintsReptiles! When they run out of that, they just improvise.
18:27 Imagine how terrifying it would be to be a farmer your whole adult life and then one day you cut into one of your crops and it has a skeleton and god forbid internal organs.
I love the skeletonic snails!
I request a review of these that includes as many accurate examples as possible so I can fill my house with anatomically accurate animal skeletons annually for the month of October ❤
The snail skeleton is hilariously atrocious
I can't wait to get home from work (mandatory overtime) so I can watch this! Having to wait to watch your videos is one of the worst things about working on Saturdays.
Oh God, those snail skeletons are horrible.
I've been waiting a whole year for this episode! My favourite series, just wish the episodes weren't all a year apart.
