    The problem is Uber and Lyft was never meant to be real jobs. They both fall under the umbrella of side hustle. I do Instacart, but it's just for extra money, not a part time or full time job.

    • @HichigoShirosaki1
      @HichigoShirosaki1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree with that. Economically, there were too many drivers so each get paid less. If there were less drivers, the companies would be forced to pay them more. I knew soneone who treated Uber Eats as a full time job. Needless to say he struggled to find affordable housing until I knocked some sense into him. The solution was really simple, don't work for them if you aren't making enough money. That is how the job market works.

    “Quit their jobs because they have no transportation to get to them” …. Idk that makes me feel that the transportation cost is too low if people are able to use Uber/Lyft daily to get to their jobs. 🤷🏻‍♀️

      No, it's absolutely true that people would have to. Most of the good paying jobs are in the suburbs where there is very little public transportation.

    When you are wage greedy, there are consequences. Companies have to be able to cover their bottom line as well. Just like when people thought they needed insane wage increase to work at McDonald's and it wasn't feasible, there were consequences and jobs lost. These drivers did it to themselves.
    I'm sorry but Uber, Lyft and Door Dash driver jobs are more suitable for a supplemental/ second job /subcontractor job, supplemental job, NOT a living wage job. If You want a sustainable living wage job, work at a regular job.

      Totally agree! Wouldn’ surprise me if they took daily payouts away, start getting paid once a week, no more working the hours you want to work, no more 1099’s could be worse than ever!

      Unfortunately that's not the case here. Uber wages used to be somewhat reasonable, unlike McDonald's. Then someone at Uber decided they could find ways to manipulate drivers and passengers with the app. For example, surge pricing. Would you be willing to pay 5x the price for a McDonald's hamburger just because there was a long line of customers in the drive through?
      When they do surge pricing, that driver doesn't get any additional money. So the customer is frustrated, the driver is frustrated even though he's in demand and should be paid more, but Uber wins.
      Drivers used to get a higher portion of the fare and Uber was very profitable, so this obviously has nothing to do with bottom lines. They're focusing on quarter to quarter profits at the expense of their customers and drivers. They know that if drivers leave, they can just find some other naive person to join. Remember there is zero driver training. McDonald's puts time and money into training. Uber sends you a video to watch and sends you on your way. Don't get me wrong, I agree that additional wages affect most businesses, but in this case it's not wage greed as you called it, it's corporate greed. Got to please that board and those shareholders. There are times doing Uber that you might break even on a ride if you don't get tips. Nobody expects to necessarily make Uber their only job, but not having a minimum wage means you can even lose money on rides.
      Businesses are not what they used to be 25 years ago.

    There plenty of cabs still. The people customers that don't want to tip are the one complaining about this. The one without cars and don't understand the cost of maintenance and gas. It also makes it to where the money will stay in the city by using independently-owned cabs again. Uber and Lyft will take the money away from the town and they don't care about drivers or customers. Answer this when you call Uber about a problem they side step the question or problem most of the time. you have to jump tough loops to get things settled. But if you call a private cab about problems they fix it and if they don't it will be easier to get it fixed because they are in the same city. They need to do this everywhere. Bring the real cab company's back the ones that are for the people and drivers.
