That 74 Telecaster and Stage 4 Rivera amp sound amazing together. Cool in depth spec check Brandon. Great playing Michael and great video Jen. Thanks Norm.
the groove master, this tele is super special, can't believe the tonal spectrum of the humbucker in the neck position and that neck pick-up is amazing!
Norman your crew is excellent and professional and I will always consider your family my family because we are The Amazing Americans and we invented the Fender Guitars 🎸 in California by Leo!!!!!
You make my day 5 times a week (and crew). The internet has created some interesting opportunities for talented artist like you to share your art and give joy to others. There are many ways to define success as an artist. There are not many that create as much joy for others as often as you do. I am thankful for these videos.
Had one just like this Tele Custom. One of the best sounding guitars I have had, but it weighted a ton, the reason I sold it. Thank you and Norm for your many fine guitar of the day videos. Your demonstrations are a treat. Excellent play.
Micheal , you blow me away… your persona and guitar playing is so cool & Good my friend ..That tele is all yours … that is the guitar you should have in your arsenal 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦😊🎸🍁
at 15:06 minutes, if you block out the lower middle 'button' on the back of the couch with your finger, over Lemmo's right shoulder................ Barney the Dinosaur ! ammirite? ammirite???? I'm here to help. I'll be here all week ! Try the meatloaf on Thursday! It's fantastic !
I bought the fender telecaster custom AO 70s in 2020 the vintage blonde one,it's outstanding I keep dialing in new sounds, beautiful guitars, love Lemmo,s playing.
Thanks Soriano I was enlightened custom tele n tele custom I’ve always they were one. Mike n you played it so clean what a difference. Jen I think you’re the only one who saw all the videos cos you’re recording from day one 🙏👍🏻❤️ great job🤟🏽
Also, if there was a Norman’s rare guitar shirt that just had the quote, “let’s see what we get” on it. I’m buyin it. Love that quote as if this astounding guitar skill is some random thing.
I have one and i love it very much. I have compared mine to 10 others in a few vintage stores near my previous home… mine is very very light and sounded very resonant and lively.
Great guitar! I was born in 1970 and my dream is to have a birth year guitar but that would do nicely! Close enough for me! I dream though! Anyway, thank you Michael, great playing as always! Thanks also to the 'stats" guy lol and Jen, it is all because of you that we get to enjoy these magical moments so thank you the most!!! Take Care friends at Norm's!!!!
Jimi Hendrix was a guitar god! Michael Lemmo is his reserection. Fender had some gems and this is one of them. Thanks to Brandon for his eloquent description and history. Truly some thought went into this design to maximize the tonal palet capabilities of this guitar. Every time I hear Lemmo it's new and different and exciting. Words can not describe Michael Lemmo's playing and his brilliant search for composition.
Forgot to mention the Fender Telecaster Deluxe, it came with two Seth Lover Humbuckers. I have a 1973 in walnut finish also called mocha brown. I play mine thru a Music Man 210, 135 watts, sounds awesome. Great demo! Gotta love Norms.
I own a 1987 Japanese Stratocaster and it’s not 1.77 mm thick body but it’s 1.70 mm thick solid swamp ash and the guitar amazes me every time it plays the pickups are vintage 1981 and different than ALNICO five staggered poles these are high end bar magnets made of precious metals like copper and nickel. But I don’t see ceramics so these are unique and the Japanese 1981 vintage fender style single pole pickups and they are the WHIP!
Me too! They’re heavy, though. I talked to Paul Rivera about that back in the late ‘80s and he told me that his biggest-selling amp in South Korea was the 100-watt 4-10” combo with JBLs. About a 90-pound amp!
@@jubba4623 Fender was bought out by the Columbia Broadcast System from 1965 to 1981. Quality declined and set off the vintage guitar craze along with Gibson decline in quality around the same time. I have owned GREAT guitars from those times however. Many classic recordings were made with instruments from that era.
I might get a Telecaster one day, but being a Syd Barret fan, it would be for that memorabilia aspect and a 1960s I think he had...... I like a lot of guitars, but only LOVE a few including my 89 Fender HM super Strat, NOT for the Heavy Metal sound... but the super clean sound it makes so when effects are added, they are so ultra pure, I love it :)
Nice! That one has the proper Tele body shape, as opposed to a lot of ‘70s Teles which were made using a worn-out body template. Sounds great too! I bought a standard Tele new in ‘74, sunburst with a maple neck. Should have kept that one!
That one actually has the 'wrong' body shape - the Custom style scratchplate, rather luckily, is disguising it. This one doesn't have the strong notch on the upper bout just before it meets the neck that the original, correct shape had. If you look at the close up at 2:28 you can see the curve is hitting the wrong side of the fingerboard dot, and at 2:28, when he turns it around you can see it's a shallow curve rather than a nice, sharp notch. I read that it was caused by CBS buying computer operated routers, which couldn't cut a sharp enough curve. I had a 70's Tele in with this shape, and was very happy with it until I got my '66 in 1980 (which I still have), then it looked so weird I had to sell it!
The 1974 fendr telecaster custom that i just bought is not in beautiful condition. Someone put a belly cut on the back side many years ago. Time to give it some love.
Koo-knee-fay ...bay-bay (!) me favorite pup (I'm just cuckoo for CuNiFe) I've placed/inserted/installed/mounted/modded/molested/swapped into the hole/recess which I so crudely carved/dug-out/chiseled a wide range and let me tell you, bruthas and sistahs... my late model Gibby DC Junior went from ho-hum wince pyucky P-90 to holy moly cripes-a-mighty
Are we sure the string plate and three barrel saddles aren’t original to this model? Just asking - I have a ‘74 (sunburst) also, and it looks the same as this setup. Great playing, Lemmo.
How do the volume controls work when both pickups are on? Does each volume control adjust each pickup separately or does one or both control both pickups together?
It's a 'wrong shape' model, made after CBS bought routers which couldn't replicate the sharp notch Teles had (and now have again) where the upper bout meets the neck - if you look, you can see it's a more shallow curve, with the upper bout metting the body on the wrong side of the fingerboard dot. Luckily, the Custom style scratchplate helps disguise it, but standard Teles look weird with that shape. Mick Green of The Pirates had a Custom (a '72, I believe) with the correct body shape. He said in an interview he bought it because, with the switching and the humbucker, it was more versatile than a standard Tele, so he could get more tones for session work. He had his head screwed on right!
that same exact axe was my first pro guitar; age 15…then I joined up with a local, teen guitar legend in my hometown and HE had the same exact model! I’ll have to disagree with this opinion of the neck pickup; it was dark & muddy; I eventually did what most who owned these mid ‘70s Teles (including Keith Richards) did, I put a Gibson humbucker in it; I wonder where it is now (the ashtray worked surprisingly well as an electric percussion instrument)
Keith never put a PAF into his Tele Custom. He had a PAF installed in his blonde Teles, Micawber and Malcolm, and there’s a humbucker in Sonny and another blonde Tele or two.
The original neck humbucker on my 1974 Telecaster Custom is definitely not dark & muddy. It's smooth and bright. Also, balances very well with the DiMarzio Pre-B1 replacement bridge pickup in tone and output power.
The “neck pickup” demo is top tier stuff. Michael you are one amazing solo guitarist. Oh cool guitar too.
That 74 Telecaster and Stage 4 Rivera amp sound amazing together. Cool in depth spec check Brandon. Great playing Michael and great video Jen. Thanks Norm.
Such beautiful phrasing. Youve inspired me
Hell of a sales pitch. I learned a lot too. Killer Tele.
Man..I’m fortunate enough to have the exact same guitar, same year. Love it!
Me too! Although mine is a 76. I've had it since 1978. Great guitar with a lot of character.
I love watching these on my VR headset, They are way cooler that way. Hope to visit store one day.
Pitch perfect Guitar Of The Day! Why I'm addicted to this show.
Wow what a demo! I do not know how much work goes into each demo, let me tell you it is worth every second!
One fine guitar in everyway
the groove master, this tele is super special, can't believe the tonal spectrum of the humbucker in the neck position and that neck pick-up is amazing!
His musical excursions mesmerize me and quantify the exquisite tonal pallet of the tele. What an awesome guitar, thanks for sharing.
Lemmo thanks for the music, greetings from Argentina

It’s been a long time, since a Telecaster Custom was featured. Used to love Mick Green of The Pirates play his.
Even better the second time I watch it! Amazing guitar, one of the best sounding guitars ever.
The middle position was my favorite 🤩 wow!
I always wanted one of those in black because of Paul Langois of the Tragically Hip. Fellow Canadians will understand.
what a sound!
Tele tuesdays is ❤! More teles pls!! Ahoy from Manila!!
That's an absolute beauty
Coolest guitar show on TH-cam you guys are electric !!!!
Had one just like this Tele Custom. One of the best sounding guitars I have had, but it weighted a ton, the reason I sold it. Thank you and Norm for your many fine guitar of the day videos. Your demonstrations are a treat. Excellent play.
that was the guitar Mick Green of Johnny Kidd & Pirates used, Lemmo !!!! Shakin' All Over"
I have seen a bunch of your videos and I can’t remember another time you played Sweet Home Alabama!
Micheal , you blow me away… your persona and guitar playing is so cool & Good my friend ..That tele is all yours … that is the guitar you should have in your arsenal 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦😊🎸🍁

Man... that was some awesome playing ML!! And the guitar wasn't too bad either lol. Thanks for a great video... again.
I have one and i love it very much. I have compared mine to 10 others in a few vintage stores near my previous home… mine is very very light and sounded very resonant and lively.
Awesome guitar!!!!
Wow! Your playing totally caught me off guard. Just beautiful.
Utterly brilliant

Thank you guys this was a good one
That s what i want for the new year...a telecaster custom like Keith Richards s black one.
Thx for this cool demo .
Cheers from France.

And more people should be watching these demos
Awesome guitar, and awesome playing.
Very nice! 👍🏻
...oh and BTW, Michael, your playing just keep gettin' betta and betta
...and more than wonderful
That's a lovely sounding plank of wood!
That 74 telecaster does sound good.
A lot of range. Rivera amp sounds good too. Nice work, Michael.
That Telecaster sounds good!

GREAT FULL BODIED VID!
great vibe !
Love the demo as always. Wish I had the talent too make the same sound.
Go Birds! 🦅🦅Great vid thanks!
That Tele sounds great and I have been a Rivera Amp fan a long time.

Wow, spec check to the gills. Brandon knows his shite, good stuff! 👍
WOW !
Mike Lemmo your really focused today! Wow that’s good picking ALABAMA!
Barney Sanguchi’s spec checks are the best!
74 was a good year for Fender. Jake E. Lee’s “Charvel” was actually a 74 Fender Strat.
Great guitar! I owned a ‘73 Tele Deluxe and it was AWESOME! Not all CBS Fender’s suck!
CBS?

OMG. Lemmo has a new van halen patch!
is nobody going to talk about the amazing transition to sweet home alabama?
The first demo on the neck sounded like Vini Riley from DC.
Moving right along...lol
Wow only the best FENDER ! USA!!!!!

❤️TT!
Tele Choose Day.
Rarely does a guitar sound bad when Lemmo plays it. Choose your axe and chop down the tree.
Choose your axe and Lemo will kill it.
How do the volume controls work when both pickups are on? Does each volume control adjust each pickup separately or does one or both control both pickups together?
Independent of each other.
Second shot
Some funny vids lately
does anyone know which preamp they are using to achieve these echo/wave sounds at 12:53 ?
❤ Smoking nice!!!
Thank You 😊
👌
Are you sure about the saddles? Thought they switched to chrome three barrel saddles in the 70’s?
What was first thing he was playing? My god, he doesn’t half cover some real estate on that fretboard! 👌

Had one and sold it for les paul studio because it was too heavy😢
Not a fan of the Telecaster Custom, always seemed neither this nor that, but always a fan of Lemmo's playing, regardless of the guitar.
I want that guitar please
No offense but I think a Fender Player series would sound just as good. Certainly nothing special but I’m sure it’s got a special price.
If they could get a washing machine to fly,
Michael Lemmo could land it.
cool but the pickguard is the deal breaker
I just don’t like the sound of that amp, rather they used the fender amp
Too much gas bagging.
I found it informative and interesting.
Do you feel better after insulting somebody for no reason? Probably not.
Amateur hour…maybe one day he’ll learn how to play….
