Hello Maneesha, I am about to renew my passport but a am an expat living in Germany. My question is; after meeting all the requirements, can I do it by mail here as well?
Another question, hopefully you will see this one. What size prepaid express envelope is the one needed?
@@jphillipsf If you are renewing from abroad, you have to apply in person at the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. The forms/supporting docs are the same, but every consulate has its own rules for submitting/processing the paperwork, you would just check their website for that. Where in Germany are you?
In Cologne and I believe the embassy that handles the passports it the one in Frankfurt, they posted on their website they are no longer doing walk-ins for passport renewal for DS-82 applicants, but the mail in form.
It's all very confusing since it all goes in circles. I'll give them a call tomorrow because it it is possible to do it by mail, I still have the problem with the money order.

Hello passport people, just a quick update about my passport renewal status. I applied/sent in application Expedited by mail March 21. US Department website showed my application “in process” status March 24 and money order was cashed. Two weeks after April 6 status showed passport “mailed”. I received my passport in mail today April 8. In total mine took literally 10 working days (not counting weekends) or 2- weeks. So there is hope out there to get passport fast. Good luck everyone!

@@joannasmith5261 I didn’t do anything more or less than what it says here in the TH-cam video for the directions. I got my application from our local post office and I followed the exact directions as it says both here and the application.
@@LorenDiEmmanuele Yes, of course. It’s one of the questions in the applications at the end if you have travel plans.
I have travel plans for June and I wrote it there in the box.
The Passport Book fee increased since this video was published. It is now $130 as of 01/05/2023.
Number 11 only allows you to choose if your name changed by marriage or court order. Should I select court order if my divorce decree states that I can resume my maiden name?

Good video. I paid for 'expedited' service of my Renewal in Jan 2024. I got my new passport in less than 2 weeks. Also, I just used my Debit card at the Post office to pay fees. (A credit card will not work, since I guess I bought a money order.) Lady at the small town post office in TN was so friendly & professional that she did most of the work. So I don't remember all of the details. Just an FYI to anyone who might be wondering.....

Hi. This video has been a great help. I live in the US.The price has gone up for the passport it is now $130. I'm having my passport expedited and the price stayed the same $60. I'm also getting the one to two day delivery and that is $19.53. a total of $209.53 to renew and expedite my password. now there is an automatic calculator that adds everything up for you you don't have to go over to the calculator like before. Thanks for your video it has been a great help for me ❤️

Currently, the PROCESSING TIMES for the two common methods of renewal are as follows. Routine: 10-13 weeks. Expedited: 7-9 weeks (extra $60). The times are only for processing and do not include time for postage to and fro. The government Web site says it may take two weeks each way.
I was looking everywhere online yesterday for renewing my passport and when I figured it out I found your video.
I also found if you go to the US Department of State website, they will fill in everything for you when you enter the information. That was helpful for me. I didn’t know that you are not supposed to bend your application, that I don’t think was in the instructions so thank you very much for that.
Per above comment I hear that you can use the auto filler, then print out and mail that form in.
Question I have is do you sign the copy you print out or do you sign the form online.
I was told a few years back that it would be better to sign online as that is the way it would appear on the passport.
Is that true? The person was explaining how some people would sign the form one way and then maybe the check a little differently.
Does that make sense?

I’ve renewed my passport as a duel citizen a couple of times (showing my age now). This video is perfect.

Actually the passport card is good for domestic air travel, which I prefer to use instead of driver’s license. Had an unfortunate incident where my DL almost got left behind on a stop over and had to pick up a rental car at my destination. That would have been impossible without DL. I no longer use my DL it keeping it safe in my wallet. The card as you said is good for travel between Canada & Mexico and also for the Caribbean and Bermuda when traveling by land or sea.

Walmart passport pictures is $7.44
My local library in IL is $10
The most rip off passport picture fee is at Walgreen and it cost $16.99 plus tax. 😮😮
lucky you. cvs was down the block for me thus paid that amount for 2 photos.

I needed an urgent renewal of my passport and I did through ‘Rush contact +1 470 588 5155 my passport’. Excellent service! I got updates on status and where my passport was continuously. I received my new passport after 3 weeks and my old one a few days later. Excellent!

My wife's visa expired last year on December. We wanted to renew it but we are getting diferent information such as, re due a or update a DS-260, update your W-2 and tax return, fill out a IA -64 form and request a new visa from US Embassy in Ciudad juarez where we originally got it. I already paid $220.00 for the green card but apparently she need to Cross over to the US with in that 6 moth window. What do you think think about all this. I'm not sure what information is accurate. Please help

Yes, I found the video very helpful. I do still have one question about completing the form. In #8 on the renewal form do you put your house # example 1594 or just your street address?
Timelines are now 8-11 weeks for Routine; 5-7 weeks for expedited if you renew after October 2. This does not include the time it takes for the passport to be received at the State Department. It might also take up to two weeks for you to receive your passport once it is printed.
Mine got renewed in less than 2 weeks (mid January 2024). I was shocked how fast it got here...
I am also currently working on renewing mine and honoring to get it back fast.

Hi. Thanks for the instructions. Do you have any advice on expedited passports now in 2021 when the passport process is delayed? I read that they aren’t expediting or even expedited passports take months so it is not worthwhile to pay added fees. Thank!
No no no. I paid $ 400+ in November 26 2021. It was urgent so I paid that money but still waiting 2/1/2022

the passport card can be used for air travel but not international travel by air
Just want to note, processing time for both routine and expedited service had changed compared from what is stated on the video:
Routine Service is from 10 to 12 weeks
Expedited Service is 4 to 6 weeks
@sam chump you should only mail your form via USPS, any other carrier would be declined.
I just read the FedEx site, they process limited passport renewals. Double check their requirements.
