    It's a sad day when we rely on comedians to tell us common sense things that are obvious and plain to everyone. But if a politician or anyone else says them, they are hate speech.

      Yes but I imagine if we went back in time and heard a lot of the prolific people from history talk they would sound more like comedians than modern day politicians.

      Back in the day of kings and queens, the jester was the only one that could tell the king the truth. Of course it was done with humor but if the king was messing up, the jester could put him on blast and even though there might be some truth in it, it wasn’t taken seriously because the jester was a clown. Comedians are modern day jesters.

      Jokes aside I don't watch either NBA or WNBA so I actually wouldn't know. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some women capable of doing so. I will say that those who are shouldn't bc they should be the Jordan and LeBron of the WNBA and not average in the NBA. We aren't equal but that's how it's supposed to be physically. Rights, laws, and policies should be fair and as equal as possible since that should apply to just being humans.

    As a still rather fat person, I really liked Bill Burr's jokes. I know I caused my issues, and only I can fix them...that's what shame will do for us...if you don't feel shame you will stay unhealthy and keep doing what you have been. I have lost 15 lbs since February, pretty much by doing what he says here, shove less food in me and go out for a walk. :) You will feel better in the long run if you start losing weight. It should never be wrong to tell people the the truth, even if they don't want to hear it.

    There is a secret to being uncancellable. Don’t apologize. That’s it.
    The problem is America is too privileged. Now we’re all creating struggles and searching for adversity. Like in regards to your analogy. yes you absolutely HAVE to check out Carlin. He was one of the greatest wordsmiths to ever grace the comedy stage. I luckily got to him live once and he was absolutely phenomenal. And actually they did try to cancel Chappelle after his last netflix special. But it didn't work, they could not take him down and it is awsome that they didn't. Because people like him and Bill are necessary. We need people who are willing to through our own bullshit back into our faces. Netflix also just the other day released a special about Dave giving an address at his acting school where he talks about the aftermath of the divisive special and his feelings about them trying to cancel him. It's very good.

    I'm fat. Agree with Bill Burr 100%. I don't really care if people acknowledge that I'm fat, I acknowledge it every day. And yeah, it's hard to get fit. I've tried several times, and I always fail. It's tough. But so is going to work everyday, having to talk to that annoying relative you don't like, moving house or asking the person you love to marry you. Life is hard. But we have to do it. We have to live. Therefore I have no sympathy for the overweight and I expect no sympathy for myself. I shouldn't over eat. I should exercise more. I'm being lazy and greedy by not doing these things and I'm paying the price for it. And if I ever do loose weight, I don't expect to be congratulated for it because i'm undoing something I shouldn't have done in the first place. And as for plus sized models, again, as a fat bastard myself, I don't want to see fat women in bikinis on the front of magazines or in shops. Or fat men in boxer shorts. Muscular men and skinny ladies may not be representative of the average person and it may be overly unrealistic. But damn it, Id rather buy the same boxers as the big, muscular, hunk of a man, not the fat, lazy slob. I hate the whole body positivity movement. Your fat but that's ok!!! NO. Your fat and you'll probably die young as a result. It's the top cause of heart failure and the second top cause of cancer. It leaves you tired, unmotivated and depressed. There is nothing positive about it.

    • @theparadisesnare
      @theparadisesnare 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The only way you fail is if you stop trying altogether. I know it’s hard, I’m overweight too. But keep going, little by little. 💪

    • @eternal___official
      @eternal___official 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i believe "it's not ok being fat, it's ok that you are fat" as a notion. It' sok if someone is fat. They obviously had their reasons for getting in that situation and i don't think anyone ever had an aim of getting fat. Nevertheless, once someone realises they've gone too far, it's their self-responisibility to their own health betterment, to change the situation and try their best to undone the "damage".
      I've never been fat. I was always that skinny guy that everyone hates, who eats a pile of junk and doesnt get fat. This has changed in the years and i got 10-15kg.
      A month ago, i noticed my belly was looking like i'm pregnant - not a big deal right? Fat people would tell me "it's cute" or that "this is not fat", meaning it's insignifacnt compared to what others have done. But in order to avoid getting more and more fat i realised i have to stop it before it's too late. Cause i figured, i wasn't far from getting addicted to eating lots and getting more n more kg.
      So, it's been a month now that i started to exercise. My diet has always been weird and lame, but at least i'm trying to stop all those doritos and chocolates ive been devouring like a maniac!
      I'm already feeling slightly better and my belly is getting smaller - way too slowly! BUT IT DOES.
      Hence, i'm going to continue this schedule and maybe even get a bit stiff / fit - just as much as i can, nothing extreme.
      Once you feel shame of yourself you start taking action.
      PS: i never exercised in my life before, never! and im 34....

    • @matsu9999
      @matsu9999 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I struggled with weight myself, tried countless diets etc.
      The problem is, there is so much missinformation online, most of the "wonder diets" aren't sustainable. You might lose a couple of pounds, but it doesn't change your habbits etc.
      It has to click for yourself, when others tell you to do something it usually won't last, atleast that was the case for me.
      All you need to know is, lower your calorie intake. When you need 2.000~ go down to 1.900 - 1.800~ the more you cut away the harder it will be. But atleast in my experience, the first 2-3 weeks were hard and i had some cravings, but when you stick to it, the weight will go down almost on its own.
      If you don't have time for sport etc, thats fine. Nutrition makes a huge part of losing weight and i personally started to walk and run later. At first it was just another way to have more calories, so i could add a small snack depending on how much cals i was burning. Later on, i continued because i felt great, like it was almost like a relief to go out in nature and walk/run after a stressful day at work.
      I always thought counting calories would be to much work, but it really changed everything. All you need is a scale for your food and an app. Most of them have product databases like Myfitnesspal for example. You simply scan products you buy (if they have a package that is) weigh each piece and add it. Just be honest with yourself, depending on your eating habbits you dont even need to cut things out and just eat smaller sizes.
      Sorry about all the bla bla, but its really not that hard, once it clicks. So don't put yourself down and think you'll never change.

      Just a suggestion here. Add lots of turmeric and coconut oil to your diet and replace sodas and milk with flavored bubbly mineral water. Coconut oil is a medium chain fat and burns rather than gets stored. Jumpstarts your metabolism.Turmeric promotes the creation of brown fat rather than white fat. Look that one up. Choosing mineral water cuts out tons of worthless calories. It makes for a really good start. Good luck and keep on trying.

      There are things that are working against peoples desire to be fit unfortunately so its not all your fault but is partially. The environment of people around you, the information taught in schools, the knowledge that is open to the public, the media all play a part. Health science has not been particularly effective in helping people to get healthy along with companies who are more interested in profits at the expense of people (Coca Cola for instance).

Canceling someone is a very scary and sometimes out of control situation often based mostly on opinion. You can turn him off and walk away. I understand its different if he came to your house and wouldn't stop harrassing you. I think to many people want to silence everyone who has a different opinion than their own and that is insane. that's actually true, that comedians almost always have a very interesting and insightful things to say about stuff going on
    but it's actually the reason why they are comedians, because best comedy (especially stand up), comes from having a good observation of the world and often not even just making fun of it, but actually pointing out absurdities in stuff, that shouldn't be absurd or funny, because that's what makes most people laugh
    goold old fart jokes are always fun, but driving people's attention to stuff they never thought about, and are surprisingly absurd and something you just don't expect, is the core of most comedy (i think even john cleese was talking about it, making exactly or at least similar points about it)

    🤣🤣🤣 EXACTLY. We are conditioned to think our personal or government 1st world problems are soooooooo terrible. 🤣 How many of the 1st world crybabies have been to Nigeria? Where a lot of open sewage still runs right through neighborhoods. Mannnnnnn Makoko is literally a floating city built by refugees. Sewage in the water that’s also swam in and fished from.
    I love Nigeria. Amazing people and place. But damn. The people who know the least about shit LOVE to complain about the most shit.
    Side note: The whole “his truth, her truth, my truth, your truth” 🤣🤣🤣 People magically swapped the word Opinion with the word Truth.

    Bill Burr is a genius. Not just a _comedic_ genius, but an _actual_ genius. His observations about the human condition, and his uncanny ability to vocalize the most ridiculous aspects thereof in a manner that's so belly-splittingly hilarious...

      And to me it’s not talking shit, it’s laying out open truth to a sugarcoated, unrealistic living, too high on themselves state of general society and it can be funny as hell sometimes because it’s so goddamn true.

    The only problem with fat shaming is you don't know who has medical problems and you don't know where they are on their weight loss journey. Suppose they have lost 50lbs but are still overweight and have another 50 lbs to lose. Shaming them may cause them to relapse. You don't know their mental or physical problems. Treat everyone with common decency and kindness. Comedians can joke about it, but don't actually treat people that way in real life.

    Hi Alex, I love your take on this and the point you raise at the end. However, the genius of comedians like these two is that they aren’t actually telling their truth. They’re taking a point of view, often a common sense point of view and twisting it into something that will trigger but is also hilarious to most. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure that they believe in some of what they say but they take point and exaggerate to make them funny….. and they are funny. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to take a look at themselves, their lives and re-evaluate. Life’s to short 👍

    I was in great shape when I was younger. But I was accused of taking steroids but that was a lie. The reality was that I spent more time in the gym than I did with family and friends. It's takes a lot of time and effort to be in great shape. You have to eat right and stay decipline to your schedule. It gets exhausting after a while. It takes a toll on you. You can get burnt out if you over do it. Mostly life gets in the way and staying in shape and getting older makes it that more challenging. Now all that effort just to stay in shape went to the wayside. I try to stay in shape but it isn't easy. No matter! 20yrs later, I'm rocking the dad bod now! Lol

    Alex Great reaction as always made me laugh so damn hard, I adore Bill Burr and as a man who is a rotund fat man I can say it since I am one, I can laugh at what he says it is simply truth stretched to a funny level it is true what he says, I take no offense at comedians who point out truth's people hate those who pop their little bubble of being self unaware.
