I'm very happy with my progress too! I think the next hurdle is seeing the matrix and going into true infinity - properly blocking instead of just slapping roads down, for example. Lots still to learn!
It's interesting the bug you saw on disconnection, several promising cities of mine were brought down by craziness after redevelopment. Cars just taking insane long journeys on motorways into housing areas, blocking traffic that was always segregated. Since the last update you see cars going in/out of the wrong colour houses, it may be a different symptom of the lost cars.
That's my hunch too: they might even have a timer set up to check if a car is not home and just casually path it home after its intended travel time is over. I bet their devs are pulling their hair out to solve a pathfinder algorithm worst nightmare: path might not exist 😂
@@Retroflux that's why the grey routes are generally there but roundabouts often have gaps they can drive over. It could be an error in deletion code that fails to notice cars need the route. That would explain the bumbling I have seen and your whacky 5D routes taken after changes.
I think you could speed up traffic by avoiding crossroads (4+ way intersections) as MUCH as possible, particularly in cul-de-sacs, since cars seem to slow down for crossroads unlike T-intersections. Alternatively you could use roundabouts or staggered T-intersections, or if there's simply no space then god-forbid - traffic lights. Also, maybe change your challenge to be top 300-500 rather than 10k trips? It's too bad the game doesn't seem to give your score a percentage rank, as that would be ideal - then your challenge could be to be to place in the top 80-95% of players.
But where houses join road cars are slow starting from rest, there an X may be the best solution when mixed spawns occur. It can only be 2 cars that respond to demand simultaneously so they are not delayed by much. There's a lot more players now, even top 3000 can be in the top 2% of players. 10K is less of a moving target, but is easier on some maps than others. Also cars do slow for T's & Y's when higher traffic means cars conflict. Later game traffic lights can help by bunching side road card, joining main flow without the space requirements of roundabouts.

Try not to make a 3 way intersection from roads and motorway near your factory. It wuld clog up. Also dont do 5 way entrance intersection on the houses near the motorway because it slows down their arriving time even they use a motorway.
But cars are faster on the highway, if 5 houses meet on 1 road they start from rest, the next tile can be the motorway entry, lengthening the road route won't speed anything. If the motorway supplies one dest, the flexibility of slip roads isn't required as you don't ever need more than 5 houses (except perhaps if the route is exceptionally long).

Closer to perfect spawns, I'd wager! If only 300 people have gotten above ~6K before... it's probably a 1 in 100 kind of spawn
What about immediately putting a roundabout onto a mall when they spawn?
That does work, but you'd be fighting with space restrictions by the time a mall spawns!
