Take an inside look at stress inoculation training being hosted by South Metro Fire Rescue during November 2018. Although we hope active shooter incidents never happen, these hyper-realistic scenarios are preparing SMFR firefighters and paramedics for a worst case incident.

Like how they go straight to treating they don’t clam people down and do a quick check to see if any one is dangerous.

@E hard to save someone’s life when they aren’t calmed down but you know I am only 17, not a perfect expert though have seen it done in many different ways all right ways and nothing like this. Oh wait, I am always wrong.

@@EricWhiteTheGamer Unfortunately, you're wrong. It's better to triage, and while treating calming down the injured victim then to first calm everyone down. In a mass casualty incident (which this is classified as), time is of the essence. While you're calming down someone who is classified as a 'yellow' tag (or can wait victim), 'red tag' (or cannot wait) victim could be rapidly declining, and potentially going into shock or worse.

@@cgmason7568 not true… do you even work in the field? 1st goes in a “kill team” 5-6 cops go straight to the shooter and eliminate or confine the threat and then RTF Rescue Task Force teams from the FD/EMS go in with cops assigned to them while the event is still happening and they start triage and removing victims. Atleast that’s how it is where I live and if your state or county doesn’t do that I feel sorry for your community.

I served in the Marine Corps for 4 years and got many Tactical combat casualty care(tccc) classes and I know It takes 3 minutes to bleed out from a laceration on the femoral artery, no knees where put on arteries to stop bleeding while tourniquets were applied(to low by the way) and there was no speed or intensity by any of these first responders. These casualties would have died(notionally of course) with the speed and skills they had. I love and respect our first responders but hopefully they get some better information and training on how to use the tools they have.
