On the topic of the SAG-AFTRA Voice Actors Strike, this is what the actors are asking for:
"There are four major issues being fought for with this strike. Transparency, so actors can better negotiate their contracts, preventing vocal stress from long recording sessions, stunt coordinators on performance capture sets, and payment of residuals based on sales of a video game, which have traditionally not been used in the video game industry."

Kaya was really absurd, when it came the the voice actors strike. "It's really straining on the voice", "No, it's just about money". He just disregarded that the voice actors have really bad working conditions, and the fact that it's not just about money

It literally isn't the hardest thing in the world. It's just about the money, the working conditions bit is only to squeeze sympathy from saps as it brings up images of people working in the mines and factories. Good for propaganda, not to mention the absolute gaul to ask for bonuses when most people who work on the goddamn games don't even get that.

And at the end he was proven right, because they were trying to get more money in their demands, like Jackson said after he researched it. Yes, it is straining on the voice. Because they are voice actors. It is their job and they are paid very well to do it.
Developers on big games go on sleepless nights, artists work day in and day out. Everyone is strained. That is their job. There is a reason why their salary is high.
Because it is a big and demanding project for everyone involved. It is not like the voice actors are the only ones being worked and everyone else is doing coke and banging hookers.
I worked at a call center. That was 8 hours of talking basically NON-STOP talking 6 days per week. I did it for years. Yeah, there were some rough days, a lot of water drinking but it wasn't anything crippling. It was just a job. And I wasn't even paid well for it.
Making a "strike" is pretty fucking stupid. Specially when they are damaging projects that involve the effort and livelyhood of a lot of people. There are hundreds or even thousands of people involved in the development of a triple A game (Back-office personel, developers, artists, voice actors, assistants, writers, testers, marketing, research...)
They aren't victims of injustice. This strike was absolutely childish and showed a complete lack of respect for their work, their colleagues and the consumers.
I think what Charlie was trying to say during the indie game bit was 10 years ago everything was a game, it didn't matter if it was triple a or a small team they were all equal. now indie devs make it a point that they are small teams and you should expect less from them for that, where as 10 years ago it wasn't like that, all games sold at the same price and we're all held with the same expectations.

I'm a big Life is Strange fan too and I'm too disappointed that Ashley Burch won't voice Chloe, but Kaya's opinion about the VA strike was completely wrong. It's not the voice actors or the SAG-AFTRA unions fault. They want better and safer work environment. If you want to blame somebody, blame Blindlight (the studio Square Enix uses for VA), which is one of the companies for who union VAs are forbidden to work during the strike, for not making agreement with SAG-AFTRA. I wish you guys were bigger Nintendo fans. I'm a huge Nintendo fan, have been for as long as I can remember. I've been a big fan of Xbox and PlayStation too but I'm with Kaya where 1 of every 10 AAA titles seem interesting to me, and I end up actually playing even less. Nintendo, however, has never failed to captivate me, even through the Wii U generation. That's why I was so glad to hear Andrew's praise.

It's always been 60$ in the US, they adjust the price in other countries, Brazil has had an increase of 100% in game prices, you used to be able to buy games for R$130 in 2009, in 2015 prices started rising, reaching the R$260 we pay now. Great stuff.

Also Marvel is losing sales due to their bad practices, they reboot and cancel series in the blink of an eye while having so many crossover series that people can't get into the stories because of the laundry list of titles they have to read. Also their response to people not liking Secret Empire? Just buy the whole thing it'll be good we promise. Like that's a sensible response to people not liking things.
Finally the comics that were heroes getting changed into newer and diverse characters are selling pretty well. Secret Empire is flopping pretty badly though.

Replayability is huge. I can go back to old games, even (and especially) old RPGs and still enjoy myself. A game like Undertale? I can't bring myself to play it more than twice.
God forbid voice actors should ask for better conditions or more money! Does this asshole know how hard it is to make a living being an actor? Any kind of actor? The reason they need higher salaries is because the work is so few and far between, so when they do work they need to get paid substantially more than the average joe, otherwise they can't make a living off of voice acting alone. I'm a screen actor and a voice actor and believe me it's no fucking cakewalk. It's incredibly hard to make ends meet off of acting work. The gigs are sparse, so when you do get a gig it has to pay well, otherwise the whole acting profession will disappear.

Just so you guys know, the strike isn't just about money. Voice actors are sometimes never told what they will be working on. So you could be called up and your agent will tell you you are voicing a character in a video game, that is it. Then they will go in for like 12-16 hours and just keep doing lines for a character they do not know in a game they aren't allowed to know.
It won't be till months or even years later they it turns out that they were voicing the main character in the biggest budgeted game of the year and it will go on to sell millions of copies. Meanwhile, he got the same pay for those lines as if it was an indie title from a nobody game developer.

Bethesda isn't even that good. The only games that they have made that are actually fun to play include Wolfenstein, Doom, and Fallout 3. However, the fact that they are going to hog the fallout license pisses me off. They should just hand over the IP to Obsidian.
Mystic Media Do people actually still pretend Bethesda isn't a good developer? They're ONE of the most successful RPG developer around and have been for a while. You may not like the games but they have a huge fan base for a reason. I don't like the Pittsburgh penguins, but I'm not going to say "they're not even that good" after they won the Stanley cup.

Opinions are fine, not liking a game is fine. But looking at a franchise like the Elder Scrolls and calling it "shit" is objectively wrong.

Every Bethesda game after Morrowind needed copious amounts of mods to make them enjoyable, Oblivion had heinous level scaling that made it borderline unplayable (barring the many, often game breaking bugs which had to be addressed by - guess who - the modding community) and Skyrim barely is a role playing game, it's an action adventure game. To call these games good is objectively wrong, they have so many flaws the end user has to work around or fix it's disgusting. I know this. I played both Oblivion AND Skyrim on console, and it was a miserable experience all around, so don't even dare mentioning nostalgia. Bethesda is a company with a history of broken promises and insults to their community.
Shrike _ Bethesda is more focused on what will appeal to the lowest common denominator rather than actually making quality games. A perfect example is what they did with fallout 4. 3 was already slipping in terms of rpg mechanics, but 4 straight out removes most if not all the preexisting RPG mechanics, leaving some borderlands/skyrim leveling system that isn't great in an RPG sense. Their games have been going this way since oblivion.
Really makes me think about which companies are willing to let passion hold more precedence than money, and how quickly that attitude of shitting AAA games for money is going to overshadow genuinely good games.
