Yeah, it Seems as though Dream Team dabbled a bit in the book of Sonic Adventure, Sonic Heroes or even Sonic 06. I feel it will be neat if they keep progressing & problem solving in this area. It's probably easier said than done since it seems they are trying to merge those types of level design with boost but yeah. They could probably learn a thing or 2 from a few fan games as well. As what it looks like they are trying to improve in are things some of the fan games have problem solved in their own way. Hopefully it turns out well! Enjoyed the video & have a nice day everybody.
So I just wanna say a couple things about your points for Sonic X Shadow Gen taking notes from Dream Team. While I don't believe it is unlikey that Shadow Gens took some things from dream team, I also believe it is FAR more likely that a lot of the things in the Shadow Gens level we saw took inspiration from other games, like SA2, and Shadow The Hedgehog. Rail jumping was already in the original Final Chase from SA2, which the shadow gens' level is based off of. There were lots of rails that curved up in that level. Wall running was also something from final chase you could do, that being on the green floating cylinders, they aren't "walls" per say but your stilling technically wall running. I assume they probably switched out the green cylinder platforms for green square platforms probably because probably because running alongside flat square platforms felt way better than round and awkward cylinders. Generations also already had homing on attack rails, its in the first modern stage of Gens(Green Hill Act 2), so it's not surprising that shadow gens would also use that idea since its being released alongside it. (BTW you can only homing attack the beginning of the rails also like in Gens) The more open level design does look intriguing though. You don't have the more consistently open level design like in dream team, but its cool that they included a small section similar to it. I would prefer however, that the WHOLE level had more open sections like this throughout it, and not just in one part. Also i would've like to have seen the spin-dash comeback.
I can’t remember the last time I was sold on a sonic game immediately by just one stage play without any more or worries or doubts,it feels good to finally be sure that a sonic game is gonna be good
It's really cool seeing how Dream Team apparently built on the Adventure style formula! I stopped playing Sonic when it switched to boost gameplay because adventure style movement is what I liked most about Sonic. A lot of the things you mentioned were features back in SA2 as well and hearing that there is still influence from that has made me interested in getting back into sonic.

Well idk about taking notes from sonic dream team, like rails were in original lvl of SA2 thats why theres so many, homing attack on rails were in other games, wall running on those green platform were just like in sonic frontiers (even same colour lol) and the open area from dream team, ye i think that was from dream team, if i forgot something srry guys
you really underestimated the graphical capabilities of Unleashed, they were just showing off their realistic lightning engine with reflections lmao, it still has amazing graphics today. they were showing off the graphics at the cost of performance, it wasn't just poor optimization. also, back when they were making games for their own consoles, the flagship Sonic titles had the job of showing off the graphical capabilities of their console. of course there's the transparent waterfalls and cool colorful enviroments in the genesis games, but Adventure really wanted to show off the water rendering capabilities, hence the entire existence of Chaos lmao. the Director's Cut and Battle ports always struggled with major issues because they couldn't replicate the rendering capabilities of the Dreamcast. they toned down with Heroes, but then they worked on the Hedgehog Engine.
Unleash was ahead of its time. So much that it didn't run on the console it was made for. If you look into any way the hedgehog engine works, you can see that. Not only was it graphically capable beyond its competition. Does it balanced art direction texturing a light manipulation better than any recent game And true it's not on par with ratchet and clank riff apart But Sony has the advantage of these things already being developed sonic team when they made hedgehog Engine didn't have any of those. They had clever tricks and they made the best looking game to date Not because of its oppressive lighting engine, but because it can be upscaled and still not lose any clarity that can't be the same for frontiers in a newer light engine games If I am to say anything, it is like Nintendo optimizing every game they run for their system they have every in and out Sonic Team did that with all HD systems.
Yaaaaaay love for Dream Team! I adore this game to bits, it’s super fun, and just seeing some of the same approach to many of Shadow Gens design choices has me hyped. It’ll be amazing to finally experience something like it on an actual console, makes me wish for the day SEGA allows Dream Team to get ports to different platforms. And there might be a teeeeeny tiny crumb of a possibility for Shadow to be part of the DT roster(? unlikely, but it would be sick nonetheless
I wonder if we'll get a vs Sonic fight in this game, kinda like how you fight Shadow in og Generations. Also is it just me or those wings they gave Shadow are something straight out of the [Prototype] games, stealing Alex Mercer's style
Personally I don’t think that they took notes, Dream Team is a new game that’s released in same year. It’s more likely that the level designers worked on both games.
They are COOKING with this game man. Now all we need is for the game to have a similar length campaign to the original Sonic Gens at MINIMUM and then were golden.
This updated-rerelease is definitely a step in the right direction for Sonic Team-- especially while they're still figuring out how best to carry the franchise forward following the success of "Sonic Frontiers", and it's final update. And it's reassuring to know that the Blue Blur is steadily picking-up momentum again after a decade of copy & paste standalone entries that did nothing to drive the narrative forward beyond the scope of each individual title. We need more stories with overarching narratives that take themselves just seriously enough to set the stakes again. And I'm happy to know that Sonic Team is somewhat revisiting this idea by diving back into Shadow's origins with this next installment, and further expanding upon it after all of this time. That said-- if this title does as well as it SHOULD, it will absolutely determine Shadow's role [if any] in the next mainline installment of the series. Then, the success of "Sonic Frontiers 2' will determine which games get remastered next. If all goes well, we could see dual-remaster's of "Sonic Adventure 1 & 2". And if THEY do well, we could see a toss-up between "Sonic Frontiers 3", and the long-awaited "Sonic Adventure 3" right after. The ball's back in the fan's court now, it's up to US not to screw this up just as much as it is up to Sonic Team to actually deliver. We as fans-- all just need to support this game, refrain from being unnecessarily critical (as alot of us often are), and have just a little more patience. If we play are cards right, everything we've ever wanted from this series could finally come to fruition. Cheers. 🍻
bro have you not played the original Generations? Rail homing literally functions the same between Sonic Generations and Shadow Generations: home in at one end of the rail, unlike Dream Team where you can home in at ANY point of the rail. Did you seriously not know that you can use homing attack onto rails in the original Sonic Generations?
I’m a bit annoyed how whenever there’s a shortcut that takes advantage of chaos control it gives a full gauge item box and gives a button prompt which kinda ruins it. I don't see anything related to Dream team in Sonic and Shadow. Generation. Almost everything in the game is from old games like 006 or SA2 and the gameplay reference Frontier, even Sega themselves stated this. If Generation learned a lesson from a game, it's from Frontier. Even the graphism are superior to Dream Team. I think Dream Team is overrated, I really don't see what is incredible about this game, it's just a nice little game where you control 6 characters across colorful worlds. If I'm not mistaken you can also Homing Attack rails in base Generations, so that's cool (and the mid-rail homing attack reminds me of 06 lol)
