The saying about counting the eggs , I first heard it from a Jamaican person.

      Hmmm I guess it's a general Caribbean saying maybe? That's cool 😎

@@TheDarybelle The standard English version is, "Don't count your eggs before they are hatched." Most of these sayings have versions in all languages, I guess it's part of the universal body of mankind's common knowledge. Keep up the good work. Here's one for you to think about " There's nothing new under the sun"

“Joke is joke but breaking stick in monkey bottom ain’t no joke”! Or “what sweet in goat mout’ is sour in he boom boom”! “Faster than Alston fire”! The Alston fire was the Alston department store where Independent square is now , “monkey say cool breeze” to name a few, my wife is Trini and most of these were from her grandmother who worked at Alstons so that one might just be hers!

The only one of these I've heard is "what sweet in goat mouth is sour in he bam bam" but Trini sayings are endless 🤣

@@TheDarybelle It is so nice to make your acquaintance, thank you for getting back to me! And yes you are correct, how funny my wife and I were laughing about the breaking stick in monkey’s bottom one and she said it was from a still dear friend who was part of her mother’s dance group the Julia Edwards dance group and his name is Hopi who came to rehearsal one day years ago and told that phrase, my wife Janis said he has family in Lopinot and maybe it came from there or it is just an original, either way we love it! By the way Vernon “Hopi” Hope lives in the East of Trinidad is a retired fireman and is the minister of a spiritual Baptist church on Ft. George Rd. St. James where he grew up and right near the Hummingbird’s Pan Groove panyard where I started playing pan in 1992. My wife’s mother, and my mother in law is the queen of the Limbo Julia Edwards, you may or may have not heard of her since so many generations have passed but she was quite famous! So anyways please let me say that I would like to talk you about all things Trini anytime and that I like your videos!
