Top 10 Fastest High Speed Trains in Europe

  • This video presents a guide of the fastest trains in Europe.
    High-speed rail 🚅 in Europe is emerging as an increasingly popular and efficient means of transport. A massive competition between countries has developed with the clear goal of creating the fastest train in Europe continent. The first high-speed rail lines in Europe were built in the 1980's and 1990's. Since then, several countries have built extensive high-speed networks 🚊, and there are now several cross-border high-speed rail links. Railway operators frequently run international services, and tracks are continuously being built and upgraded 🛠 to international standards on the emerging European high-speed rail network.
    Surprisingly, one of the main European power, United Kingdom has still a very outdated network and remains behind their European mainland competitors. They have now started to invest 💰 in major projects which will bring them back into the high speed railway elite.
    This ranking exclusively compares trains meeting the official high-speed criteria and has been done using the design top speed, ignoring occasional testing records or speed limitations of various European countries.

      You dude made so much errors, delete video. First Eurostar France/Velar Spain/ ICE3 in Germany, are identical Siemens Germany ICE3 trains with similar speeds and engines. They are much slower than French Alstom TGV/AGV trains.
      Second if French TGV keep a world record, so how can it be 7th in Europe by speed? TGV is actualy the fastest and it have the same engine as French also, Alstom AGV which Italians purchased from French and call it "Italo.
      Third Luca di Montezemolos company just painted that ALSTOM AGV trains in Ferrari red and called them "Italo". But they are French Alstom. "Italo" is just theirs marketing name. Those are not Italian trains, but French Alstom which have similar engines with new also French Alstom TGV Duplex trains. New TGV Duplex are lighter than AGV, so they are faster than AGV. Woooof, you made so much errors.

TGV are in France (TGV Se, Réseau, Duplax, Daysie, POS, Daysie 2, Atlantique), Belgium (Thalys, Eurostar), Great Britain (Eurostar), Spain (AVE1), Kore. Nice images, but you're mixing up train companies and models, and some facts are incorrect as far as I know.
    -Thalys and SCNF TGV aren't trains, they're companies with several train types running at different speeds. Thalys trains are actually adapted TGV trains (Thalys PBA model is the equivalent of TGV Atlantique, and Thalys PBKA is an adaption of TGV Duplex).
    -SNCF TGV trains also extend to Swizterland, Italy, Belgium and Spain.
    -DB ICE also extends to Belgium, France, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark and the Netherlands.
    -Oaris was just one prototype train that has never done any passenger services for Renfe in Spain, but it will be soon operating for Flytoget in Norway.
    -Eurostar E320, DB ICE3 and Renfe Velaro E are just variants of the same Siemens Velaro model. However, some of the trains shown under "Eurostar E320" are actually older E300 trains.

      Jeez!... the german flag does not indicate that the train only runs in Germany. The German flag indicates, that the ICE 3 (Intercityexpress 3) in this particular form is owned by and designed for "DB" (Deutsche Bahn) a GERMAN railway company! It does not mean that it only runs in Germany. As you said, there are also ICE 3 trains running from a dutch city to another dutch city.
      And just for the sake of it, I get very precisely. The first ICE 3 train was the class 403, a one system train. That means that the 403 in fact only ran and runs in Germany. :)
      However, there is a class 406 of the ICE 3 train. It is a multisystem train and can run on different electrified rails in Europe, including the Netherlands. So the Train you see at the Arnhem Centraal is a 406 and the train in the picture with the flag is probably a 403 and thus only runs in Germany
      There are also other variants and developments of the ICE 3 trains running in different countries called "Velaro" (for Example Velaro RUS in Russia)
      Greetings CARrera. :D

    Currently the Frecciarossa1000 is the fastest train in Europe, as it is authorized at a service speed of 360km/h (AGVs are only allowed at 350km/h). Currently both the Red Arrow1000 and .italo travel at 300km/h because the cost of maintaining lines at over 300km/h would be too high. (For all the French who say "the tgv has reached 575 km/h" that train had been specially built to break the record, but no TGV is allowed to exceed 320 km/h, unlike the AGV and the Frecciarossa1000

    As I understand it, these trains are categorized by the speed they were designed for, while most operate at a slower speed ?
    So some trains designed with a lower speed will end up operating at the same speed or more than a train which is supposed to be faster... it's a weird way to classify.
    Italian trains are therefore first as they operate at a slower speed than Spanish, German, French and Eurostar trains (i.e. all trains in the video except the last one), a great way to swap the first and last places, quite fair.
    Anyway it does not change much, they all have a similar speed...

    • @indigoplanet9966
      @indigoplanet9966  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I appreciate you took the time to understand how the top was made. Yes, the trains have been sorted by their design speed. Why? Because most of the countries have implemented speed limits, so it's like having a Ferrari or Lamborghini but you are told you can only run at 250km/h maximum speed. It feels fair to classify vehicles by their manufacturer design speed (ideally proven by live tests), as this is their true potential. A high-speed train requires specific railway infrastructure to run at its maximum speed. If that is not up to the standards, then you have limited speeds implemented as we can see pretty much everywhere.

    The German ICE can use its power only when it runs abroad (e.g. to Paris). The German rails (with the exception of a small section between Cologne and Frankfurt) are shit, so this powerful train is forced to run only at 240 km/hour (or even far slower) whereas all other highspeed trains in the world run at 350 km/hour. Germany is far behind.

ICE has better acceleration because german cities are closer than french ones but it has difficulties to sustain 320 km/h along the hilly and very long french east high speed line

    Automotive industry greed keeps this from working in the United States. I would love to see this here...every time a state proposes to set up a high speed link..."it's too expensive" (California, Florida, Ohio, etc).
    With due respect to the love affair with the steam locos here in the US (I mean that)...there is so much land to connect the country...but more roads are built.
    Oh well...Eurostar has an attractive train that I guess i will haveto fly to the UK for a London to Paris run.

    • @spencerwilton5831
      @spencerwilton5831 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BarrettL1970 it partially the fault of the public too though. Maybe not their fault, they have been conditioned to think of train travel as slow and outdated. In Europe we have a different view- most of us actually prefer the train to flying for medium length inter city journeys- it's certainly more comfortable than flying, usually takes you straight to the very centre of the city, and is often quicker too as there is no slog to the airport, check in, security, baggage reclaim etc. The US is probably too big realistically for full cross country train travel to be viable, but it makes sense for many areas where multiple cities could be connected over a few hundred miles.
