I totally agree! These air cartridges have been the best AEA have ever produced, at least so far more long term testing is needed. They are supposed to be coming out with a barrel sleeve for shotgun type shells and when this happens I will be making beanbag projectiles to try. Thanks for your input!
Should have used a bench rest to sight that thing in. Would have helped taking the human factor out of it it. At least a bit. Great video, with good info. Cheers
At 30 and 50 yards it seems to get about 3-4” between the two with longer barrels. 11” pushes 320 grn at 482 and 165 at 715 ish . So far round balls up to 320 are almost the exact same accuracy out to 50 . Very little drop between anything I’ve tried at 50 . Good video Scott
That is great info thanks, your input is always appreciated!

The Harpoon can be easily de-cocked very easily. With the action open and safety off set the trigger for double fire and pull the trigger and while holding the barrel assembly let it close slowly and it will de-cock the trigger mechanism.
Top notch as always. Great testing. I think the future for air powered self defense weapons is extremely promising. There are so many positives and possibilities. Thanks again
plug them into the compressor or a fitting with a gauge that way you can read the exact pressure and then youll know if some air leaked or not. the dont need to be shot to find that out. .
Unfortunately it doesn’t work like that with these cartridges they are under immense pressure 4500+psi. The air compressor needs to exceed the cartridge air pressure in order to open the internal pressure valve and at that point the compressor will tap off the pressure to the set point between 4500 and 5000 psi. So far there is no type of hand guage I’m aware of. Because of the type of pressure we are dealing with it is best to keep some distance while filling. Thanks for dropping by and commenting!
Honestly I would have even purchased this even it it cost more just for the uniqueness of the gun! I am pleasantly surprised of the build quality and consistency of the air cartridges, thanks for dropping by!
You can tell when the cartridge is filled when the burst disc has a bubble, but unfortunately there is no gage to tell you If it is holding pressure. You can press on the valve located on the front of the cartridge and if it doesn’t budge than it holding air but how much is unknown, if the valve bottoms out you know it is completely empty. Best practice would be to recharge weekly to maintain pressure. My next test will be over 6 weeks of storage to see if all 9 cartridges fire. Thanks for watching!
looks like a "fun toy" to add to the collection. already have a .30 and .22 pcp with a compressor that'll do 300 bar. When will DonnieFL make a double suppressor for this one too? lol
I had the .50 Umarex Hammer with the giant donniefl suppressor. helped a lot but it still wasnt backyard friendly and barely ear safe. but with a .50 maybe loud is good. if you miss with one shot any threat will probably soil themselves in fear. I think Ill score a Harpoon for myself in the spring.
I'd like to one day see something like this that can propell a slug at arpund 1250fps. Then, create a manual pump loading system with 10rd box magazines. Then add a suppressor. A suppressed, subsonic air powered pump shotgun. And eventually a cartridge tip similar to 12g shotgun shells that allows users to load their own pellets, etc.
this has me thinking...what if you got something like those flattened pellets Hornady makes in .410 but in .50 and stack a few into a taller Harpoon "shell"?
Here is a link to the very first AEA Defender and it shows the filling process. It is the same method on the harpoon. th-cam.com/video/U5kzO9VUiiQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=q7wRHnu-rpSubz_1
There is only one safety! Originally I thought you could place on safe after firing the first shot but you cannot! You need to decock if you’re not going to fire both barrels.
Because the idiot who was filling my orders couldn’t count in pairs! Trying to make him understand they are sold in pairs blew my mind. If I purchased 3 they would send me only 3 not 3 pair! Finally they got so confused they refunded me for a pair instead of shipping the last air cartridge and told me not to order through them anymore! Honestly the most frustrating order process ever!!!
How long do those cartridge's hold their charge for? Can you charge them and stash them away to use for quick home defense or will the air pressure leak out over a period of time?
So far all 9 of my air cartridges held air for 3 weeks, my next test will be 4+ weeks so stay tuned! Reliability is my main concern. It may also be a good idea to give them a maintenance charge every 1 to 2 weeks.
re-cocking will reset the previous fired barrel so you could put on safety and dry fire the first barrel or move the loaded cartridge to the first barrel. But it doesn’t change the fact that at some point you need to dry fire or un-cock the weapon. It’s by no means a deal breaker but it would have been nice if a manual was included so you don’t have to figure these things out the hard way!
@@airgunnerreviews7888 Agreed. You could also re-cock it and set it to firing both barrels so you don't have to pull the trigger twice to fire the second barrel. Of course they should have made it so that safety goes on at all times. Are you sure it's not a defect with your particular gun?
I don’t think it is defective in order for the safety to work it has to lock both firing bolts since they work independently. Your right I could re-cock and use the double fire feature. My only problem with that is not with the weapon it is with my aging memory to put it back on single fire before reloading and firing lol! 😂. Thanks for your input it is very much appreciated!
So you use a foster fill adapter and screw it into the top of the red cartridge (air cylinder). You then connect it up to your high pressure air source like a compressor or bottle. You can fill the cartridge to up to 5000 psi of air pressure. As long as you have the burst disc in place and non punctured then the valve in the cartridge prevents the air from escaping. Once the burst disc is punctured the air inside the cartridge pushed down a plunger which releases the air out of the front of the cartridge and propels the projectile out the barrel
This is what i needed to see. Now I'm gonna snag me one. Defender was a bust. This will do. I have real guns, but for those controversial places... yeah this is it.
I'm not sure why people don't take these seriously, I would love for people who call these toys to try n take a shot from a"toy"/airgun like this and tell me it's not threatening or as good! At least power wise ! If im playing devils advocate, though... let me say this, i believe if you can carry a firearm, then you should 100% or at least maybe both, real for backup. But i say this cause i would much rather have this than nothing at all, especially if you are a felon or ex felon, parole, probation, etc. Or simply cause of your local b.s. laws. This to me would be not bad for home defense, truck type gun. extra for reload already aired up. Then almost as simply like putting 2 more shells in a shotgun. Almost lol
I agree 100%! I think too many people get caught up in the lower fps and think it is to weak to hurt but this little foot print has some stopping power! Thanks for your input it is very appreciated!
@airgunnerreviews7888 no problem, and thank you for your time and efforts with these videos . @@airgunnerreviews7888 the fps is only half of a .45 acp and its still a metal slug shot placement is key with any weapon, i would not want to get hit by it
for me this concept makes only sense as PCP shotgun with small balls (as used for duck hunting). To use it for diabollo/slug shooting is pointless. There are many short PCPs with shrouded barells which makes accuracy much better..
I totally agree, however with an AR you can stop shooting between shots and engage the safety. With this once you fire the first round you can no longer place on safety
I would have thought the same but they make shot gun rounds for this now and it makes a nice home defense weapon shipped right to your door with no background checks
this is why a bench rest for zero is necessary you split the difference with the red dot so when you aim either barrel or both barrels hit your target , like if you get hit in the head and see double... aim for the one in the middle
Never ceases to amaze me how much money people are willing to WASTE on these obscenely expensive pop guns. 442fps is comical and about as threatening as a housefly. Boys with toys pretending to be men with guns.
Never ceases to amaze me how some people get caught up in feet per second and not foot pounds of energy! Sir if you get shot with just one slug in the chest you are not getting back up without surgery that is if you live long enough to make it to the hospital.

Promising results. Reliability is my number one objective with everything else being secondary. AEA is definitely improving with each iteration.
