West Bengal, Orissa and Bangladesh was one single rich province earlier. But then the British broke it in the name of governance. Then later the province of Bengal was divided into 2 parts during the independence. One part became East Pakistan and the other became the state West Bengal. Later in 1971, after the war with Pakistan the east Pakistan got independence n became Bangladesh.
And yes, since independence the state of Rajasthan, Orissa and west Bengal never got divided even though they are pretty big in size as a state.
In case of Sikkim state, it joined into INDIA after we got independence.
Goa was the last state to gain independence.
Odisha got sepeated on 1st April 1936

Let me say you the history of BENGAL….
In 1904, british partitioned the province of bengal into east bengal and west bengal,,,(as usual, they play divide and rule) on the basis of religion
And when the british partitioned india in 1947 before leaving, they gave the east bengal to pakistan which is on the other side!
So, pakistan had two parts-west pakistan and east pakistan
The west pakistan commited many attrocities,massacres on east pakistan(bengali)
So,in 1971, many people mass migrated from east pakistan to indian states like assam and west bengal
This was a major refugee crisis for india and waited for an excuse to free east pakistan from as it was the will of the revolutionaries in east pakistan
That excuse came when pakistan declared war on india as india was helping immigrants
FINALLY, india won the war with help of Soviet Union(because usa,uk,france supported pakistan.)
And the new country, BANGLADESH was born and it is very grateful to india
Initially, all this was started by the british,”partition of bengal”, partition of india”are the worst and dirty tactics which were played by the british

On October 1 in 1953, the then Madras Presidency was split in two & "Andhra" state was created for Telugu people of that Presidency. It is the first state constituted on language basis, for Telugu peope whose number is next only to Hindi & Bengali speakers. Yet,Telugu people of "Telangana" region, the eastern half of Hyderabad (the biggest of the 565 princely states in India) wanted to join with Andhra state. It set into motion the constitution of SRC, "States Reorganisation Committe" headed by Justice (Retd.) Fazl Ali & HN Kunzru & KM Panikkar as members. SRC submitted its report in 1955 & was accepted in toto by Loksabha and States reorganisation was set in motion. In 1956 (November 1), 14 new states came into existence. Who says Indian processes are very slow?
Main feature of it(SRC) is the three-way splitting up of Hyderabad on langauge basis- Telangana for Telugu, Marthwada for Marathi & Karnataka part for Kannada peoples. UP was untouched & its borders remained in tact. The new state by combining Andhra state & Telangana region was named "Andhra Pradesh" & not before. Andhra State existed from 1-10-1953 to 1-11-1956. Later in 2014, when Telangana was seperated as a state, the residual Andhra Pardesh (co-terminous with old Andhra state) retained the name Andhra Pradesh.
