In Argentina, they were first known for the hits "Build" and "Bow Down", suddenly one day (in the late 80's or early 90's, not sure) I found the album "London 0 - Hull 4" but it did not have the songs I already knew. I took it anyway,,,I am so happy I did bought that vinyl... Now it is one of the treasures I have in my collection.
Wow. Love that jorgeno. What a tune. What a band. Sending love from 🇬🇧 to 🇦🇷 Maradona is a god and we need no flags. We need music and football 👊🏼 Listen to Jamie t
One of my favorite bands in college here in the US. I came to this video after watching a video of Heaton and Jacqui Abbot singing on a morning show. Their voices still sound amazing.
in my 50s now ...... having a night on youtube catching up with my younger days a rudeboy at heart but i wore out 3 needles ( young folks will be googling now) playing my London 0 Hull 4 vinyl One of my fav bands, probably not in my top 3 of all time, but definitely in my top 5 Flag day would be one of my desert island discs. awesome vocals on that one
The real joy of acquiring a turntable after a 30 year gap is when I dig out old albums like London 0 Hull 4. Been listening to these songs all week - brilliant stuff.
Norman Cook ( fatboy slim) was asked about a Housemartins reunion... "years ago we all had lunch together and reiterated that fact, with the caveat that we would only consider reforming if the Smiths reformed, which will only happen when the royal family abdicates.” So in the perfect world and in my biggest dream one random day Morrisey and Johny fuckin Marr anounce The Smiths are back for one last tour, after that The Housemartins are back too.... so freakin hilarious... not in this lifetime
These are inspirational...have been that in my life....my dad cleaned their. Window's....and I just sang their songs loudly for years....after biting my lip, and thinking for a minute...I did it....love them.
Great gig. I had this on VHS tape for years. It wasn't Alton Towers, though. It was the City Lites nightclub in Farnworth, Bolton. (Disapeared many years ago.)
Random but related.. I found CD version of Miaow by The Beautiful South at a car boot sale for 50p. Played it in the car on the way back. Me and my mate started talking about The Housemartins.. good memories.
Did anyone else see them at Glastonbury 86 it was hilarious when the crowd were all watching some hippy up a ladder and Paul Heaton stopped the gig and said what's is everyone looking at.
Sad to see that (Peter Simon) who introduced this fine concert ..is now selling wares on the shopping channel ..ps house martins reunion soon please ..you've been away too long
The Housemartins' humour and lack of pretension is what set them apart from all their peers, and endeared them to the nation. Now we can look back and say they were much better than 'quite good'.
Who are the Smiths? Housemartins so underrated it's unbelievable. Clever, quirky, catchy ... Build, Happy Hour, The people who grinned themselves to death ...
Yes! get them to reform and maybe as well can include their various side gigs that they have done since there break-up :-( The Beautiful South and Fatboy Slim
That was the exact reason I searched for housemartins. I was listening to Morrissey and knew I´ve heard him before. Then i remembered an old housemartins cd i had years ago and they sound so similar.

I think they should re-form, do a revival tour. So many 80's bands are re-forming & these was my favourite band.
might be a bit hard the bass players one of the best djs/producers in the world now
Just taken me back 34 yrs. What an amazing talent Paul Heaton became!
hugh great drummer early housemartins love love love

City lights was a night club in FARNWORTH, in Bolton, I know I was outside and couldn't get in, housemartins were massive in manchester
These are inspirational...have been that in my life....my dad cleaned their. Window's....and I just sang their songs loudly for years....after biting my lip, and thinking for a minute...I did it....love them.

Fourth best band in Hull - what a wheeze! Man do I miss them.
Loved them in the 80s, I used to busk their songs in Kingston upon Thames 👦👍🎶
Brilliant. That great energy surrounding us... unforgettable!
Always liked them! It's the power of the lead vocals and the backingvocals that's making the "housemartinsound"
Random but related.. I found CD version of Miaow by The Beautiful South at a car boot sale for 50p. Played it in the car on the way back. Me and my mate started talking about The Housemartins.. good memories.
Paul Heaton I LOVE YOU FOR EVER !!!!

From City Lights, used to be a nightclub in Farnworth, Bolton.
soy de argentina y creo que esta fue una de las mejores bandas inglesas.
Yo pensé que era el único argentino fanático de los Housemartins, jajaja.

Three people watched this with their monitor upside down.

This is my favourite band of the 80's. I still like the Smiths, but I think the Housemartins are better. And Heaton has some vocal range
The Housemartins evolved into The Beautiful South and Fatboy Slim, both quite good.
The Housemartins' humour and lack of pretension is what set them apart from all their peers, and endeared them to the nation. Now we can look back and say they were much better than 'quite good'.
The presenter Peter Simon is now a shopping channel pitchman.
I much prefer their second and even their their debut.
Could you please upload the rest of this little concert gem?
@chipspaghetti Correct! That's why they were an 'unlively crowd'. Thye didn't even know who they were watching before the show.
Keane must have been inspired by this beautiful music …
i was brought up with em...use to play footie with them..paul always fouled! Great memories though..they never studied??
thanks for your reply..im an ardent LEEDS UNITED fan #MOT
Stan Cullimore is like a proto Graham Coxon!
Decent striker at Forest too.
no that's Stan Doggingmore@@moosemoss2645
What an unlively crowd
they were bussed in from The Trafford Centre with a promise of free booze.
I never thought about what the word housemartin even means.
Great band. Give The Smiths a run for the money back then.
Who are the Smiths? Housemartins so underrated it's unbelievable. Clever, quirky, catchy ... Build, Happy Hour, The people who grinned themselves to death ...
Please do a reunion with the original members:)
