Such a good video and good info for a guy like me who just order his first sprinter, Thanks
No problem 👍
Excellent Excellent Excellent presentation. Thank you
You are most welcome
Dang, being a plug-and-play guy, I would have bought a gas van instead of a diesel. If anyone wants to take my built-up 2022 Sprinter for your built-up gas van, let me know. Mine is priced around $125k if seriously interested. Great video, thx Vanland.
It's become frustratingly difficult to find gas stations in California that sell something other than B20. I've driven for miles, stopping exit after exit looking for #2. Does anyone know of any apps that will show you which stations sell #2? Putting in a "couple gallons" won't get you very far when you are driving long stretches in I-15, I-10 and I-40.
I've seen 100% biofuel at stations in California many times. I have also loaded B20 many times, makes me paranoid now. But I do change oil much more often then the suggested intervals. I also try to fill in Nevada as much as possible (I live nearby) and have a bigger fuel tank. Wow, a DPF cleaning video, that sounds great. I cant wait!
Great video.
I have a 21 Sprinter and sure wish Mercedes had a light that turned on when the DPF goes into regeneration mode. Having to frequently cycle through the dash screens to see the DPF load is a pain
Awesome video! Thank you for the education!
Thank you so much for the presentation! Exactly what I’ve been looking for.👍👍
You are welcome!
Thanks for the info. I'll hold out for the Transit Trail.
I had a problem with my Dodge ram from one of those truckstops, and the dealer told me never fill up with those deaf tanks. They get contaminated, always use them in the box.
Def makes a good fertilizer
Stay in the teaching lane…you are awesome! I am DIY sprinter builder who watches TH-cam to learn.
Thanks so much! Make sure your subscribed & for even more content you can go to Vanland.com!
It seems they've fixed the large fuel filler issue in Sprinter 2024
Thanks for the info!
Ah seeing you were in Sonoma County. Filming at the Rotten Robbies fuel station in Santa Rosa. Newest diesel fuel being sold in California. Is Renewable Diesel. Crazy high cetane which is good, cleaner burn, no difference in mpg, performance, driveability, etc.. The Cheveron and Union 76 are at the pumps with Renewable Diesel. Shell I believe is rolling out also. All diesel engines can use it. My ‘22 Ram CTD used since new and runs flawlessly with emission system. Also do not purchase DPF jugs that sits in the sunlight (like at the fuel station you were at) it will degrade over time. Also look at the date. Blue Def has Julian Date code.
Well done 🎉
Thanks! 🙏
Maybe get a Ford Transit for a class B van conversion....except for those heated seats in the Sprinter
For the amount you save by buying a Transit (including ease of repair, finding mechanics/dealers, etc.) you can buy an electric blanket for each seat. Hahahaha
There’s also HPR Diesel at the Propel stations which are chemically exact to Diesel 2. Good option in CA where B20 reigns and Diesel2 is expensive.
This is called Adblue in Europe.
Fun fact: it's synthetic cat piss. It sounds like a joke, but that's exactly what it is.
When filling from the jugs, how do you prevent overfilling- is there a way that collapsible hose shuts off when the DEF level reaches its end, or is it just blind luck? Similarly, what about the pump fill- does it shut off like the diesel/gas fill does?
The jugs can overflow the DEF tank if you’re not careful. The pump will shut off just like a fuel pump when it senses the tank is full.
I was told to always keep your DEF tank filled at all times. Do not let it go to empty the dried DEF flakes can clog your filter.
This is true. Shouldn’t really go below 50% ideally.
Gawd! $30 for Blu DEF ?!! Walmart $16. Sam's even a bit cheaper!
I heard if you let that DEF warning come up you are running a risk of destroying your vans engine I never let my DEF guage go under 50-75% I don't need to ruin my engine. Also Jeez that BluDEF box is 30 bux where are you located those cost $14 dollars in costco here
Hey Van Land,
I just watched your video and I must say it's really helpful and well made.
I was wondering if I could help you design your thumbnails for better CTR? Wanna try out a free one?
Re: def- What is considered a “short distance”?
Are DEF or analogs available in Latin America/Canada/Europe?
When I see how much it takes to design and maintain a Sprinter diesel engine to meet emissions (defluid, dpfilter, catalytic converter, B5 & B20 biodiesel, dpf regeneration, error codes, limp mode, etc 🤷♂️), can someone explain to me why I want to buy a diesel Sprinter vs a gasoline Transit? I drove both and was underwhelmed by the Sprinter!
Please help me understand 🤔.
Because it’s not rocket science?
Re: the diesel particulate filter, “short trip” is relative. What would you consider a short trip?
What is def even in this context?
