Wow that was close. Thanks so much Kevin, will see you again soon.
That was a close shave, lol! Fantastic!!!
ATC gave AVL a show on this day!
Wow
Wow! I think that's everyone's first reaction and I'm one of them!
WOW, that was close. Great catch Kevin, only on AVL ❤
That was very cool shot!
Whoa.
Impressive!
Southwest got rocked there after that takeoff. Little too close.
THAT IS A SAFE DISTANCE IT ISNT CLOSE
Hope things going great.
Wow, for sure! I guess heavy traffic in the US also demands for close encounters like these. ATC around here in AMS would have never accepted two planes being that close.
That's cutting it close!!!
Hello Kevin 🎉
Forget about separation, we're leaving in 30 minutes.
Good Lord 😮 I was just reading that LAX has one of the worse runway accident records of all. Not very comforting since it’s my home airport. 🤢
I’ve heard Southwest has the best pilots because they do so many landings and take offs on any given day.
This pilot proved it.
This is common at airports a lot. I was in Barcelona this past month where only one runway is used for all landings, and it was very common for an airplane to land just seconds after the previous one got off of the runway.
Fantastic!!
That's because departing and arriving on the same runway can be very dangerous. There have been some terrible accidents caused this way. I think LAX has ADSE(I think that's the correct spelling, not sure) to prevent such accidents but still, it's awfully dangerous.
That's exactly the reason LAX normally uses parallel runways for landing and take off - they used to use all runways for both take off and landing, but in 1991 there was a tragic incident where a SkyWest Airlines flight that was preparing for taking off on 24L was hit by a US Air flight landing on the same runway. After that, they switched to using the outer runways for landings only and the inner runways for takeoffs (they also built a new control tower with better visibility as the lack of visibility for controllers was also a contributing factor)
The ASDE-X doesn't prevent accidents, controllers do 👍🏻
@@Jmjbs ASDE, thank you. Well, they use it a lot in really bad weather. They can't see anything but the ASDE can!
Very cool! Thought SWA was going to do a go around.
Super catch Kevin nicely filmed as well.
I didn't even think that this was allowed, but this was awesome to see. How weird is it to see one plane just leaving the runway while a second one is just about to land on it?!
Pilot must have got cleared to land 10 seconds before touchdown?
Because of technology in place, ATC are allowed to clear multiple planes to land and takeoff on the same runway at the same time.
Not necessarily. Usually, atc gives the landing clearance the moment you contact tower.
Catch me if you can ? lol
Good evening guys from a balmy spring day in Cape Town South Africa
Greetings from a cold autumn day in Espoo, Finland.
Hang on tight, that wake turbulence must be incredible.
That could have went really wrong, really fast.
Will be reported as near miss. In my mind they were worlds apart.
KATL is like that, t/o & landings on the same rnwy...
Don’t takeoffs there only happen on the two runways closest to the terminals, while all landings happen in the other three runways?
@@SYDAirlineEnthusiast I just know we were in line to t/o and I could see planes landing 🛬 in front of us...
That's cutting it a little bit close in my opinion.
Ooiieeee
