For your luggage, the box itself weighs alot and that's why you were wondering why the total weight was high when there wasn't so much in it. For people I have seen, they make use of Ghana must go bags for their food luggage and box for other essentials, but I'm glad your food luggage did not over weigh.
There is this small and portable electronic scale that is in the market now, you will just hook it up on the bag like you did with the bag tag and it will give you the accurate weight. It is as small as the bag tag (just incase you know someone else that would be needing it)
