The fun part is when you see all these crazy passes, suddenly you see why his pass fakes are so effective. Imagine getting your ass torched by his passing and suddenly he is faking you out and shooting. He was such an offensive weapon.
On my all-time starting five, Larry is the small forward. He has so much to his game, including all the intangibles that don't show up on the stat sheet, the dude was literally unguardable.
I like how you dug up the numbers for Larry and Lebron. One thing I'd change is that Bird played for 12 years, not 13. He was out injured for one year with double Achilles surgery.
And Bird only played 45 games in 1992 because of his back. He missed about 170 games in his career with injuries and his final three years he was greatly diminished with a horrible back. He also played in a much tougher era with better competition and tougher defensive teams.
One of Bird's greatest assets was his impact on winning, not just putting up big stats on a bad team. Of course he had great team mates for most of his career so it's hard to say but look at his rookie year - before they acquired McHale and Parish. The 1979 Celtics won only 29 games, then in Bird's rookie season in 1980 they won a league best 61 games - without making any other significant roster moves. Also, in his senior year in college Indiana State, with no other great player, was 33-0 before losing to Magic's Michigan State team in the NCAA championship game.
The only caveats I can think of that are intangible in those stat lines: * Modern medicine ~ Dealing with Bird's Back and Feet Surgeries. * The game changing from a rougher sport to... Soccer levels of "injuries" and fouls. * Footwear has certainly come a long way from those origingal. Flat-footed and lifeless Converse shoes! 😂
Yeah, that Bird steal against Detroit was game 5 of the 1987 Eastern Conference finals. Boston won the game 108-107 and ended up winning the series in 7 games.
My Dad used to say, Bird was playing chess, while the other were playing checkers, & birds court vision was like a hawk!!! He was always the most unique and exciting player I ever watched 😊 I don't have any issues at all with Lebron, and he is an amazing player, & from all indications, a very nice man, I personally, just never had the opportunity to watch his game as much, as I stopped watching when Bird retired.......I think we may be a little overprotective of our favorite players LOL 😊
Larry was slower they all said he wasn't as athletic as the other guys but he knew the game so well and he was so smart that he didn't need to be the fastest and I'm from that Era of ball I remember the plays
I grew up in a home where the Lakers and Magic were revered. I started watching Bird a few years ago and honestly, he's the best kept secret in basketball. He is the best all around player I've seen. YES, Bird was slow and he has said "I have no second jump." What Bird does have is the largest toolbox on the block and he's mastered each tool. Incredible footwork, between Magic and Bird, Bird was the more creative passer no question. Watch "Larry Bird Greatest Passer of All Time (re-edit)" if you don't think so. Clutch gene, hustle, heart, toughness, IQ, court geometry, fear factor, shooting, the ability to transform an entire franchise almost by himself. Watch a LeBron passing highlight video, almost all of his passes are on the Larry Bird greatest passer video. There is a reason why LeBron rates him at or near number one. If you don't know, you don't know but it's all in the videos.
The guy was 6'10" and no one could stop him in the post. Quickness isn't usually an attribute we put a lot of stock in for big guys, or at least it's not the most imortant for a big. We do for guards, but not usaully the big guys. The vast majority say he's slow comparing him to MJ not realizing how big he really was. There are not many guys who lead the break at that size, Magic and Larry. Imagine if Jokic could move like Larry? He's only an inch and a half taller.
There are so many things that impact Accolades such as points. Larry gave away so many shots he could have made it was unreal. He was the ultimate team player that no player or team could properly deal with. Not LeBron hating, but accolade wise I'll give it to James, but skill wise I have to give it to Bird.
Also, in regards to points...the 3 PT shot wasn't really part of the game when Bird played. I believe I've read where it was introduced his first year in the NBA. He didn't practice the 3 pt. like modern players, it was a learn as you go skill to incorporate. Plus, he played 13 seasons technically but missed almost a full season having surgery on both feet so essentially those stats are for 12 seasons. LeBron is definitely good, but they played entirely different games so it's very difficult to accurately compare them.
@@realhurrikaneisaacI mean at his best or peak he was the best all-around player of all time. Better then LeBron at his peak, Better than MJ at his peak and better than anyone else you care to throw in there at their peak. No other player had all the strengths in their game like Larry.
Your dad and I, were watching that game and when Isaiah Thomas started dancing, and thinking today, his team is going to beat my Celtics then bird stole the ball and we beat them.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I would like to see the stats for lebrons 6 best seasons against larrys best 6 as larry was no where near his prime the last 4 years of those 13 years. It would be interesting to see what the difference would be.
I don't think you're wrong when you say Larry is slow. But as you said, he's quick. I think it's easy to look only at Bird's lack of top speed and jumping ability and reach the conclusion that he just doesn't have any physical gifts aside from height. However, when you look closely you notice that he's actually got a quick first step, a quick release, and he's got very quick & active hands. When you combine those with his unnaturally high basketball IQ, I think you start to see how he was dominant and why many defenders were frightened (or at least uncomfortable) playing against him.
7:34 This is why Larry did not have garish numbers. He gave up shots for his teammates. As for better stats, LeBron will always have quantity. No one is going to beat that. Quantity isn't quality. If Larry had the same length of time in the game as LeBron...I'd bet MJ would have had one less ring for sure, and the Pistons and/or the Lakers would have one less ring. He also doesn't do alot of 3 pointers, since it was introduced his rookie year. So he developed his 3 point shot during his NBA career. Context. LeBron would not have played the game like he does because a lot of what Le Bron does is from Larry. Before Larry it was play your position and stay in your lane. Larry became the facilitator for the Celtics. And the scorer. And the rebounder (though Parish and McHale later on got the rebounds) He was a excellent team defender (watch the 1986 finals game 7 to see Larry in his purest form) He was clutch...LeBron can't even come close to. He played the same way his first year in as he played in college as he played in H.S. and his last year in (though slower and a lot more pain) He never changed. he was consistent to the point of improving most of his stats. Finally, Larry loved to win. He didn't care if he scored 3 baskets or 30...he wanted to win. And he would do anything to win, even if that means other people score and he doesn't care. He took himself out of a game after 3 quarters because they were winning so good. Probably wanted the bench to play. The thing is he was ONE STEAL AWAY from a quadruple double. Wouldn't go back in after it was realised he was that close. Stats didn't matter. Jumping teams wasn't for him. He took what the Celtics gave him and made gold. Larry is better because he made his whole team better, was consistent, never gave up, and was clutch. This isn't number quantifiable. This is the eye test. This is context that says that to me.
For Lebron to be playing as long as he is. He should be the leader in all stats. And more hardware. No one from the 80s should have more than him. But that's not the case. So I don't understand how he is the greatest. Jordan shouldn't have more hardware than Lebron. If Lebron is the greatest as everyone claims. Larry turned the Celtics around his rookie year. Before Parrish, McHale, Ainge, DJ & Walton. It took Larry 2yrs to get his first ring. Lebron 9 yrs. #birdgang 🍀🐐💚
I have never claimed LeBron was the greatest ever, only that he's the greatest small forward ever. Larry Bird indeed turned the Celtics around as a rookie helping them win 60 plus games, but they were dominated by the 76ers in the conference finals because Bird didn't have the help he needed to win in the playoffs. The regular season is not the same game as the playoffs. He didn't start winning championships until Robert Parish and Kevin McHale (two hall of famers) got there. For years, LeBron led the cavs to great regular seasons, but they kept falling short because he was not surrounded by individuals who could positively affect playoff games.
remember in 1980 when Larry won the champioship McHale was a rookie and came off the bench and parish was a 4 year player, DJ and danny ainge wasn't there either so they were not hall of famer yet i do agree the next 2 they won they definitly helped alot @@realhurrikaneisaac
You should eat some of the videos showing how in the last 7 years he played with injury. He missed all of 6 games in 1989 due to double Achilles surgery. It will put alot more respect on his stats. Larry was a great team defender. I like Lebron too . Watch more
Larry took a 29 win Celtics team(second worst team) to 61 wins team his rookie year. He had Pistol pete who was on his last legs, and Dave Cowens who also would retire at the end of the year. Larry did it by himself. McHale and Parish came to the team in 1981 and DJ a few years later. Yeah, McHale and Parish and DJ helped, but Larry would have found a way. He was well known for carrying teams on his back. He did it in college. 33-1 was ISU his senior year...only loss was to Magic's MSU team and that team was stacked. ISU had Larry Bird and some half decent role players. Also Parish and McHale both say without Larry, they would not have the career that they had. DJ had an argument about being a HoF without Larry, but the other two would not have. So yes, it would have been harder for Larry to win rings, but he would have found a way with what he was given for teammates.
I respect everything that you had to say, but I disagree. Larry Bird would've for sure been able to put the team on his back, but I do not believe that he would have found a way to beat the 76ers, Pistons, Lakers and Bulls with having minimal talent around him. Alot of players in NBA history carried teams, such asAllen Iverson. He did it with the sixers in 2001, but he came up short in the finals because his supporting cast wasn't good enough going up against the most dominant player in NBA history in Shaquille O'Neal. Nobody ever gets through by themselves with no help, so no I don't believe Larry would have "found a way". That's literally never happened in NBA history, although miracles absolutely happen!
What gets me is I don't care how high you jump or how fast you run something. That's much more important is quickness that first step and skill that overrides how fast you run or your jumping ability for one, the higher you jump, the less you're stuck up in the air and can't move. But last I checked if you jump 4 ft. In the air and score a basket it's two points same as Larry jumping 2 in and scoring, two points. Larry just knew how to get it done
you kept it at 13 to 13 you have to understand Larry was in the league 13 years but only played actually 12 , 1989 he played only 6 games he was out out the whole year with double achilles surgery, also in 1985 hurt his back and played with a lot of pain his last 7 years and the last 2 years he missed a lot of games although would have a great game every once in while but was not at the top of his game the injuries finally caught up to because a ot of times he brining the ball down. so his totals slowed quite a bit his last few years. number 2 you can call Lebron a small forward but he is a point forward like Magic so he will be taking more shots both of them can play point and shooting guard and also both forwards --statistics can mislead if you don't research better by the way i am a lebron Fan and from Cleveland originally
When you compare points with LeBron you need to take into consideration that Bird only played 6 games in one season, 89 I believe because he had double Achilles surgery. He also injured his back in 85. There were nights after games he spent in the hospital in traction, there were games he had trouble getting dressed to play. He had to lay down on planes for travel games. He had lost the structural stability in his spine and they would have to realign it and he would spend hours doing techniques to hold it in place so he could play and was still better than most. He played with heart. Something really impressive Robert Parish said was he refused to take shots and pain killers and just toughed it out. He played the game with his IQ and wasn't going to let anything fog his head. Such a Champion.
In relation to the stats comparison, you missed on very important point. Larry Bird played his entire pro career with a deformed shooting hand, and had to have reconstructive surgery on his right index finger, that's how he became ambidextrous. The last 7 years he played with an unstable spine, in constant pain. Larry Bird is the greatest all around basketball player to ever step on the court.
Larry Bird was phenominal, but he is not the greatest all around player. All around is not just offense, but defense as well. Bird is a great shooter, passer and clutch performer. LeBron James is a great passer, slasher, mid range, on ball defender, he guards 1-4. He does more than anyone does on the court.
It's difficult to compare Bird's career as a whole, because he only played 6 games in one season because of double achilles surgery, and his last 3 were played on a back so bad he had to be in traction before the game, and lie on the floor when he came out. It might be fairer to compare them at the same ages before Bird's body gave out. Bird averaged 79 games per season from 23-31 years old, LeBron 74.4. Lebron averaged more points per game (27.4 to 25.01) and more assist per game (7.4 to 5.69). Bird averaged more rebounds per game (10.24 to 7.13), more steals (1.82 to 1.62), more blocks (0.91 to 0.8) and had fewer turnovers per game (3.16 to 3.38). In terms of assists, you also have to take into account that LeBron had to do everything especially in Cleveland, while Bird had some great point guards, yet still racked up close to the number of assists as LeBron. I think everyone would agree that LeBron is a better scorer, but Bird is a better shooter (he is the founder of the 50-40-90 club, which i think he did 3 times), and certainly Bird was a lot more clutch--maybe the most clutch player ever. He was also much tougher. While LeBron led the league in offensive win share several times during that 23-31 age range, to Bird only once, Bird won defensive win shares 4 times while LeBron won none. Another thing that needs to be taken into account re scoring is how defense could be played in the 1980s, a lot of holding, pushing, and physical in a way that today would result in lots of free throws for the offensive player. So they actually are much closer than your stats would show. LeBron is spectacular, much more athletic and durable, and a better scorer; Bird a better all-around player, much better rebounder, much better free throw and 3 point shooter, tougher, and more clutch. I' was fortunate to have seen LeBron and Bird both play, and to me, Bird was a little better in his prime.
Tou know the story of the Celtics with 29 wins before Bird, the next year they won 61 games with the exact same team. His help came a year later. Was the longer single season turn around ever but I dk if that’s still true.
Lebron is one of the most special players to ever play basketball. No hate only love. Same feeling for Larry. We are all so blessed to see these greats. Unbelievable
Actually, in Larrys rookie year with Boston, before DJ, McHale, Parish, Ainge, any of them, he took the Celts from 29 wins the year before to 61 wins in his rookie year alone. True story. Also, the numbers between Lebron and Bird can't be compared...Larry played a legit 12 years, Lebron has played over 20...not possible to compare solely on those stats.
@@realhurrikaneisaac I'm just messin with ya. Its a solid reaction, you listened and absorbed. You really cant compare eras in Basketball. Lebron dominated his era pretty thoroughly. And on the flip side all these NBA legends will all tell you that Bird had no weaknesses.
Did you hear it? “Larry Bird would make a concerted effort to get other players involved!“ Larry Bird was all about winning above ALL! BTW, THAT’s How they practiced, move the ball around hand, make the effort to get open, and Larry bird will get you the ball! FACT.
My guy. I hear you. Larry was a straight nightmare. Unstoppable. The best mind of basketball. Lebron is the undeniable beast. Not Michael, but as close as Kobe. Ask Michael who’s brain was the largest. He would tell you. I love Lebron. Who will you pick to take the game winner?
I believe birds first nba championship was without mchale parrish and ainge which was in 1981 check that and see. I’m not sure.keep up the good work on videos nice job!
You fail to take a couple of things in consideration when crunching the stats. Larry Bird only had a few healthy seasons. Not to mention he mangled his finger BEFORE he signed w/Boston, and never had the same feel for the ball after that injury. Imagine if he was healthy throughout his career. 🤔 His body broke down totally because he was one tough SOB, physically AND mentally. He had both achellies heels operated on, missing most of one season, along with back surgery. And STILL put up amazing stats. He had to have adjustments/traction just to be able to play a game, You see him lying down in front of the bench because he couldn't sit. He stated he probably should have retired a few yrs earlier because he feared he'd be in a wheelchair unable to pick up his children. Add back spasms to the mix and I'm in jaw dropping AWE as to how in the world he managed it. I have severe back issues and spasms are worse than any outright pain. I can work through pain, not spasms. Add to that the fact he never took drugs or any type injections. AMAZING And the fact you have DECADES of medical advancements as well as training, diet etc. advancements which makes a HELL of a difference. Today's players are soys, sitting out an ingrown toenail. Two, Bird wasn't a player that sought numbers, He could have shot more, but involved his teammates..I'll take guts and brains over these coddled wusses gracing today's basketball ANYDAY. I WEEP for this generation..TOO SOFT. HOW did you make it through childhood.🙄 So excuse me, but LeBron only gets the focus he does because he sold his soul for fame and fortune....BAD CHOICE. Don't think he's gonna like his decision when the devil comes to collect his due. 😎
BUT you make a great error in comparing James. Im sorry to have to tell you but the stats of James was very padded because he was the league princess. Through especially the first half of Birds career he wasnt getting the calls .. in fact there was a time when it seems like they were looking the other way when people were trying to literally HURT Bird . . (which most certainly NEVER happened to James) Real talk . Im telling you. Well theres more i can say about that , but i will leave you at that for now. No disrespect but Bird earNED ,HARD , so much of his stats (and whether you believe it or not during a more competitive league as well). About the time he got injured is also the time when the league was giving him some room finally , atleast at Boston. ~ Thats huge for stats actually. Im not hating . . just letting you know the reality.
Im not saying James cant play. But i am a true guru of sports believe me and 100 out of 100 times im picking Bird over James. You go and pick James and i pick a healthy Bird and we can play and we will see who wins. End. ( I will also pick a good supporting cast . Its well known by old timers that Birds support wasnt near what the Lakers had. They were actually overrated. Everyone that watched in the 80s is sure of that.)
My friend not all about stats if we look for certain ones we make a stand as long as theese players past or present has giving us joy excitement and passion does not matter who's the best we just need to enjoy them all 🏀🏀🏀
I hate to be “that guy” but Larry did miss nearly the entire 88-89 season. I’m actually kind of surprised those comparison numbers are as close as they are.
I am enjoying your content. I got one for you. The Celtics were 29-61 the previous year before Larry Legend joined the Celtics. They were 61 -23 in his rookie year. Now, he didn't have Parish, McChale, D.J, Ainge. The only person he had was ML Carr and Pistol Pete, and that was the Pistols last year.
You got to look at the per game. Averages it doesn't matter if you play 30 years because Robert Parrish is played in more games than anybody but look at their per game. Averages
Curry has Bird as the small forward on his alltime starting team. I think Ill take his opinion over yours. Also, Bird turned a 23-59 team into a 61-21 team his rookie year with no other additions. Lebron? With a rookie McHale and a veteran Parish, who had been average, he won a title his second year. I dont have anything against Lebron. Id just take Bird over him.
To tell ya everyone has there own opinions so don't even worry about what you really think 🤔 that's why I'm subscribed to you i wanna hear what you think 💬🤔 ya know your opinions n thoughts.
Dude, LarryBird missed triple double for his career by decimal points. Lebron is not even close! LarryBird scored virtually all of his points by two points and free throws. If LarryBird would have stepped up his frequency shooting threes, his ppg would have gone way up, but the game would have been boring like it is today. They did a shot-spot for LarryBird from his college days and drew a three point line. He averaged 49.2 ppg! He also played for IS baseball and hit .500, 1-2 with 2 rbi. See, he is still in the 50-40-90 club. Lebron will never get there, ever, and he knows it.
Big point games are not better when you consider no soft points and serious serious grinding it out. Larry was hurt most of that time. Go to making the case.
Do you realize that Bird was out with injured most of 88/89 and missed a lot of games for the remainder of his career? Rerun your stats for the first 9 seasons of both men and see how that looks. I haven't done it, but I suspect you might just be surprised. LeBron has a butt load of talent AND he just hasn't been beat up like Bird was. Today's league is no touch 'em and VERY modern medical. The 80's NBA was one big bar fight. Also, I bet you a buck Bird in his prime could out drink LeBron in his.
Bird came into the league after consecutive twenty plus win seasons for the Celtics. His rookie season with out Parrish, Mchale, Ainge and Dennis Johnson they won 61 games and only lost to Dr J and the 76ers in the conference finals .LeBron never did that! Bird is just a better player than than LeBron period.
So Bird did it all by himself huh? Who were his teammates if he didn't have Parrish, Mchale or DJ? They lost 4-1 to the sixers because the sixers had more talent and experience. LeBron didn't take his team to the finals in his rookie year or in the later Cleveland years because the team he had around him was horrible. I know you LeBron haters disregard those facts, in order to diminish him, but I will always keep it real no matter what. Bird was an amazing player and I have alot of respect for him, but he is not better than LeBron. LeBron can score from the mid range, post up, he's a better defender, better passer, but bird is a better shooter and more clutch and tougher. Give LeBron Parish and Mchale and he would have 10 championships. Give Bird LeBron's supporting cast from 2003-2010 and he would be ringless!
Well I do like your reactions and in total respect of thought or debate but not really debate put in what context and what league they were playing in t what point and time and what injuries you stats don't explain all those things the Eastern conference was very tough, so to make it finals back then was at a high level. Defense back then was brutal. Injuries and all he would play and win
While you're at it, you should also compare Bird's and Lebron's career 3PT, FG, and FT percentages. As far as the 3PT percentages go, the NBA added the 3-point line in 1979--Bird's first season in the NBA. For that reason, his 3PT percentages were much better in the second half of his NBA career, than his first half. Bird was a clutch performer--shooting 42 percent past the 3 pt arc in the NBA finals. @@realhurrikaneisaac
I hated bird I liked 76rs but his back hitting the metal poles when he dove for a ball robbed us of Larry's true talent without the back injury he would have gotten 5to 7 more years
Have nothing against Bron. That said longevity is his biggest asset. He is a better defender. Bron jumped from team to team with great players. Bird made Parish and Kevin better. Championship mind set and clutch Bron just don't have
The LeBron/Bird numbers comparison is missing some context. You should have also included total games played, total minutes played, 3 point field goals made and attempted. Bird in the last couple of years missed significant time due to his back injury. Plus he missed time due to surgery on both Achilles tendons mid career. Lebron didn't miss any significant time his first 13 years. That's why you need to take averages into account and not just totals. Lebron is all time leader in points but is not considered the best offensive player of all time, top 5 in assists but not considered the best passer of all time (although I would put him in the top 10). Same with the steals. Lebron is not a great defender by any means although he can make great defensive plays. I'm almost 50 and grew up a brother in Boston. Bird is my favorite player. I have nothing against Lebron. First time I saw him play in high school I knew then he would be Hall of Famer. I would still take Bird over Lebron. You can never say Bird didn't play his hardest whether it was pre-season or the NBA Finals. I've seen Lebron take many plays off and he quit in the Finals vs the Mavs. Lebron is a great player but to me he is the second best small forward behind Larry Bird.
Stats are all you evaluate a player by? Or number of rings? No you cant compare eras....first of all. But there are so many other things that make a player great. No disrespect here just asking. 10 min of straight facts on Larry Bird th-cam.com/video/UySWPxLnPDI/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
The media fawns over him and he 's beyond lazy. He whines and cries all the time, flails on the floor over calls, shopped for championships, he has no heart won't dive for balls he load shares and if his pinky hurts he's out for 2 weeks.
It is not about the stats it is about the intangibles and Bird has those over LeBron in spades. LeBron is not as skilled a player in any way as Larry Bird it is not even close.
My friend, your playing the fool making any statements of fact or assumptions and comparisons about the NBA ‘80’s and early ‘90’s, team history, players, and Larry Bird by reacting to just 1 1/2 video. Do your research! Keep it real! Dig into the beginning of Larry bird and Magic Johnson college and first season in the NBA. THE IMPACT THEY BROUGHT TO THE NBA. Watch Bird’s rookie player of the year season on the Celtics. Taking a Celtic team with only 29 wins the season before to 62 wins his rookie season. An NBA single season turnaround record. Without Parish, McHale, Johnson, and D. Ainge. YOU PLAYED TEAM BASKETBALL IN LARRY BIRD’s WORLD OR YOU DIDN’t PLAY FOR THE CELTIC’S. Fact.
The NBA nowadays sucks the players are soft glamour Queens, they get the sniffles they take a game out. The way they dress unprofessional look at me just not for me man ! I don't care about James I would take Bird in a heartbeat !
😂no one wins alone...but bird played that first yr without parish and mchale and won when mchale wasn't really relevant.... also he missed his 12th yr.... and he did not play on the 3 pt era... oh and he was never the primary ball handler with all those assists and james always was .. so quit acting as if we are comparing equal situations... not to mention coaches....james in an era he was never held nack... do a little research into larrys first 5 yrs with bill fitch who clearly held larry back .and its clear...compared to when kc..... ... larry is not a better man defender...but when healthy he had more effect on a defense.... larry was a far better shooter... far better rebounder and a better passer... lebron great passer but unlike bird and magic he had wide open lanes.... bird better clutch and better leader...not saying james was not good ... and bird is 2 or more inches bigger.... bird in this era would be 250 shooting 5 to 8 3ths at 40 to 42,%. getting 10ro 13 boards and 7to 10 assists all depending on his teammates...on this era he he could clearly be the primary ball handler much like joker... but quicker better shooter and defender......larry was roy and 4th in MVP and single handedly was the reason for the niggest turnaround in the nba history at the time prior to parish and mchale.... larry was larry and on that course before those 2... those 2 were not on the hall of fame course without him.... they didn't make him by any means.... but he certainly helped them get to the hall
LBJ. No, he’s not at all great. He’s a stat padding, cheating drug taker, flopper, king of turnovers, hilariously bad free thrower who has to TELL people he’s great. (Excuse me while I fall over laughing)
Lebron is not a good person.. period. He's not humble at all that's why nobody likes him. It has nothing to do with talent or skill. He's not a likeable person and Bird is. ✌🏼
How is LeBron not a good person? He never gets in trouble inside or outside of the basketball court. He's a family man, all of his teammates love him, he built a school, he speaks out on injustice and he's one hell of a role model. It's not his fault he's that damn good at basketball and he's always 40 years old!
What you DIDNT point out when comparing LeFlop James with Bird is that Bird played in an era when you had to commit a felony to get a foul. In LeFlops era if anyone breathes on you it’s a foul. LeFlop James couldn’t carry Birds jock.
@@realhurrikaneisaac I didn't say it was his fault at all. But he certainly reaps the benefits of a soft ass league. Leflop whines and cries constantly when he is touched. Bird played through being assaulted and put up that type of career. Bird would own today's era. James would get laughed out of Birds. With an almost 90 percent career free throw percentage Bird would AVERAGE 35 in today's pathetic NBA
Are you using LaBrons best 13 seasons? If you are using his best 13 that's not fair to Larry. You should use his first 13 seeing as Larry only played 13 seasons. Isn't LeBron up to 15-16 seasons or more.
The fun part is when you see all these crazy passes, suddenly you see why his pass fakes are so effective. Imagine getting your ass torched by his passing and suddenly he is faking you out and shooting. He was such an offensive weapon.
Bird's brain was faster than anyone on the floor. He was always steps ahead of his opponents.
The only caveats I can think of that are intangible in those stat lines:
* Modern medicine ~ Dealing with Bird's Back and Feet Surgeries.
Bird took the celtics from a 29 win season to 61 win season in one year without all those great players you spoke about
What happened in the playoffs that year when he ran into Dr.J and the 76ers in the conference finals?
My Dad used to say, Bird was playing chess, while the other were playing checkers, & birds court vision was like a hawk!!! He was always the most unique and exciting player I ever watched 😊 I don't have any issues at all with Lebron, and he is an amazing player, & from all indications, a very nice man, I personally, just never had the opportunity to watch his game as much, as I stopped watching when Bird retired.......I think we may be a little overprotective of our favorite players LOL 😊
What a beautiful comment!
Thank You ❤@@realhurrikaneisaac
Best quote about bird is
Jordan made you look slow
Bird made you look stupid
Larry was slower they all said he wasn't as athletic as the other guys but he knew the game so well and he was so smart that he didn't need to be the fastest and I'm from that Era of ball I remember the plays
Nobody was more fun to watch. Period.
He wasn't quick but he had a quick release with the ball whether shooting or passing
There are so many things that impact Accolades such as points. Larry gave away so many shots he could have made it was unreal. He was the ultimate team player that no player or team could properly deal with. Not LeBron hating, but accolade wise I'll give it to James, but skill wise I have to give it to Bird.
I can respect it!
Dirk nowitzki with Steve Nash passing.
Bird had the highest peak of all time.
What do you mean by peak?
Peak for peak (five year stretch) Bird comes out on top. He also averaged 50-40-90 during a four year stretch.
@@aramhamparian9641 i had a feeling my friend birds peak is hard to contend with especially the 3 years in a row winning mvp.
If you want Lebron and Bird comparisons, you should check out "the greatest small forward in nba history (bird vs james) "
Watch more
I don't hate LeBron, but I think people are offended when he called himself the goat.and I think Wilt is the goat,he was Larry Bird but super athletic.
I can respect it!
Good points you’re bringing out
Thank you ma'am!
Larry is one of the best
Tou know the story of the Celtics with 29 wins before Bird, the next year they won 61 games with the exact same team. His help came a year later. Was the longer single season turn around ever but I dk if that’s still true.
But in todays game you even look at a player or you get faul on you.
Nothing like that in birds day.
Who would you rather have the ball at the end of the game when you're down by one or two?
Jesus
Besides Jesus. Besides the GOAE greatest of all eternity
Lebron is one of the most special players to ever play basketball. No hate only love. Same feeling for Larry. We are all so blessed to see these greats. Unbelievable
Yes, exactly!
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I will say this. In the clutch, who do you want with the last shot, or shooting 2 free throws? I would have to take Bird in those situations
In your stats... Look that due health issues Larry missed, like a hundred and fifty games
Now compare their stats in their prime. Age 30 season for both players.
Smh, you guys are relentless!

“Larry Bird would make a concerted effort to get other players involved!“
Larry Bird was all about winning above ALL!
All Im saying is between lebron and larry. Only one of these 2 players had a hand in saving basketball
Also. Wade was always my guy, since Marquette
I believe birds first nba championship was without mchale parrish and ainge which was in 1981 check that and see. I’m not sure.keep up the good work on videos nice job!
How many seasons did LeBron miss in those 13 years? Bird missed one, playing only 6 games. Just sayin'😊. Edit:
Okay, thanks
Missed all but 6 games in 89 ??- acute back problems about halfway through his career.
BUT you make a great error in comparing James.
Im sorry to have to tell you but the stats of James was very padded because he was the league princess.
Through especially the first half of Birds career he wasnt getting the calls .. in fact there was a time when it seems like they were looking the other way when people were trying to literally HURT Bird . . (which most certainly NEVER happened to James)
Real talk .
~
Thats huge for stats actually.
Lebron is one of only a few Unicorns period
My friend not all about stats if we look for certain ones we make a stand as long as theese players past or present has giving us joy excitement and passion does not matter who's the best we just need to enjoy them all 🏀🏀🏀
Keep in mind bird only played 7 healthy seasons then broke his back and missed one of this 13 seasons. That's also facts
I don’t understand talking shit about anybody, especially not LeBron! That’s just crazy, people be wilding. 😂
Forreal though!
He is not fast but very quick
It was a much more physical game when Bird played. And very few fouls were called
I hate to be “that guy” but Larry did miss nearly the entire 88-89 season. I’m actually kind of surprised those comparison numbers are as close as they are.
You guys are unbelievable!
Dude check out Pistol Pete 😮😮😮
First time seeing though stats must be made up
Look them up and get back to me.
13 seasons ???
check the number of games
Bird missed a full season (besides 6 games) when he had double achilleas surgery. Compare the two taking away one of Lebron's years (12 vs 12).
I will, thank you sir!

‘90’s, team history, players, and Larry Bird by reacting to just 1 1/2 video.
Ainge.

The NBA nowadays sucks the players are soft glamour Queens, they get the sniffles they take a game out. The way they dress unprofessional look at me just not for me man ! I don't care about James I would take Bird in a heartbeat !
How do they dress?
LJB on the other hand is a god.
Your black his black
You're white and he's white.
What you DIDNT point out when comparing LeFlop James with Bird is that Bird played in an era when you had to commit a felony to get a foul. In LeFlops era if anyone breathes on you it’s a foul. LeFlop James couldn’t carry Birds jock.
Come on man, that's not LeBron's fault that league is soft!
I used LeBron's first 13 seasons, not his best 13 seasons against Larry.
@@realhurrikaneisaac thank you.
