I loved that as well. He new what she needed to make her feel comfortable as well as the nursing assistant. They made me feel comfortable and i wasn’t there. lol Abby u did amazing sweet girl!
She knows that when she has to lay on her back, something unpleasant is about to happen. Don't blame her one bit. But, she did great! And I can't believe how patient they were with her. I wish all medical professionals were like that.
As a nursing student, this was an amazing teaching opportunity for me. Thank you for continuously putting out content to help educate others like me who are going into the medical field! Love y’all so much!!!
You did amazing with the eye-check. I don't like those patches either. You were so patient. I'm proud of you girl. And I love how nice the eyedocter was, she was so friendly. I wish more doctors were more patient and friendly. Compliments to her too. It's not easy to do checks on people who can't answer the questions. She deserves recognition for that too.
Sorry for another comment, but I am also so shocked that she kept those glasses on for that long! She has come so far with being able to tolerate those sort of things, and she did so well at the doctor!
Ab is so cute when she crosses her legs, she’s such a little lady “Doc that light is bright” I think she kept the glasses on because the light was bothering her the drop are horrible
@@Juleru I am thinking it might be a combination of practice wearing the mask and realizing that the glasses helped her eyes not hurt from the light. Abbie has come such a long way. I remember how hard they worked to get her to wear a hat. I have been wondering if she ever accepted wearing a hat. Either way, it was the start of her accepting the mask and possibly had a part of her wearing the glasses today. The parking garage is darker and she really took the mask and the glasses off fast once there wasn't any light to bother her. She really did great.
I love how patient she was with Abbie 😩those nurses and doctors are the best when they actually take there time with there patients especially if they have special needs
Ya'll I need people like you in my daily existence. You have such a support system for each other and it is beautiful! My husband and I have been on the struggle bus lately and people like you would make the pill a little easier to swallow. Stay beautiful. The little paper she was talking about is called an auto refractor usually we use those for every patient , our special needs we have hard time getting due to needing the eye to look forward. That’s why she said it’s not a big deal it’s more for the doctor to go based on I’m sure she explained it but there’s my little tidbit of knowledge from working for an ophthalmologist
Asa I feel your pain. It took me and three nurses to get the drops in my son's eyes at our appointment last month. He was already upset by being there though (first time in a new office, small room, LOTS of equipment) so I wasn't surprised. Great job Abby!
Kudos to the optometrist and the nurse! They both did amazingly with her and being patient with her not wanting to look!! Is this a special needs optometrist or is this something they have experience in with young children?
I think they should do an educational video about how they find her such an excellent Special Needs care team. I come from a Special Needs family who could definitely benefit from the tips. I myself have Asperger's and often have to deal with professionals such as dentists who just don't know how to handle a client like me.
Oh I felt your stress when you had to get her to lay down. My guy is the same way but just to sit in any kind of doctors office. He is so strong too and trying to give him a shot for him immunization is so stressful. She did amazing though, I was so proud of her.

Having 2 adults going into appointments was a problem with my little brother going to the doctor when carona first hit. My mother is unable to lift my brother from the car to his wheelchair then from the wheelchair onto the exam table due to him being just about 100 LBS after months of having to explain this to doctors and therapists offices we have finally got all doctors on board and they now allow my mother and I to attend all appointments together with him. I'm glad yall talked about this because it is extremely important for people to know that life foe one person does not look how life looks for another, we have gotten many people staring at us or even making rude unnecessary comments saying we are the reason that carona is still a problem in the USA. I just want to say thank you to cilla, asa, summer, Becca, brandy, Isiah and everyone else that spreads awareness love and acceptance. I love you all, wish you the best and hope you all have a amazing week!
Shaping laying down for exams and drops with saline rewetting drops is also very doable, just like your work with blood pressure, temperature and all other brief medical exams. :)
