Fun Fact: While they're not the exact same in tone, Adam West's last appearance as Batman in live action was in the 1979 Legends of the Superheroes TV specials, so he's probably a better fit as they were technically contemporaries.
Funny that I got the preorder at Best Buy about a week in advance of McFarlane's which is where I preordered first. I was hoping BB ship me the chase but no luck this time. I have to say this Reeve Superman is up there as one of my favorites from McFarlane this year. Likeness could be better but the body, paint, cape, and accessories are good. Christopher Reeve was a tall and lean Superman and they got it right unlike with Cavill. Agree on the wrists. His suit sleeves does not cover the wrists at all. Minor nitpick. The other would be a lack of smiling head. We need that to complete his look. I think he's a better fit with Adam West. Size, campy, bright colors and all. Throw in Lynda Carter and that era of trinity is complete.
Totally agree with how you think between 60s Bats, 70s Supes and 80s Bats. Reeve is exactly in the middle. I used to have Hot Toys Reeve Superman and Keaton Batman. Proportion-wise, they look great. But Aesthetics-wise, Keaton was too modern for Reeve.
Cracks me up....." mcfarlane seems to put alot of effort into the movie sculpts" ........ all except the so called keaton 89 lol. Wouldnt it be wonderful if mcfarlane was MADE to not lazy out on sculpts . The reeve family was the only reason this turned out so good....they were going to half ass it like most of todds junk but the family said nope...do it right! Alot like a little kid when put to doing a chore will completely half ass it until there called on it to do it right. There needs to be alot less shilling and kissing ass and more ...hey ...do it right
I'll be honest, I prefer the darker variant; it captures a 90s vibe reminiscent of what a film featuring him alongside Keaton's Batman would look like. When placed together, they complement each other beautifully.
I agree 100% neca is probably the best representation of reeves superman but mcfarlane is the best action figure.there really isn't that big of a quality difference between them mcfarlane did a really good job on this one. There's room for both in my collection
I've got mine on order from Amazon, while I hope it's the regular version I do still want to pick up the platinum variant at some point, hopefully for a reasonable price. As for which Batman goes with Reeve, is has to be Keaton. Personally I always pictured West's Superman being George Reeves, seems like the better fit to me. I do hope we get a George Reeves Superman somewhere down the live (an easy variant for McFarlane would be to have a black & white version as the chase), and I'm also hopeful for a Lynda Carter Wonder Woman at some stage too.
Bale will always be my Batman. I never cared for the 1989 movie too much and the 60s show was WELLLL before my time. Wanna see this Superman next to the upcoming Batman Begins fig!
I definitely say Michael Keaton Batman would be best with Christopher Reeves Superman. And I got to say I love this Superman figure so much I'm so happy to have it in my collection.
It would be nice if a double pack appeared again in which Kent would be clearly dressed in the original costume from how he was dressed in the movie and this Superman figure, just as classic or I don't know.
I found 5 Reeves Platinums at one Walmart and one regular version a couple days ago, so theyre showing up there as well as Best Buy. I saw the Page Punchers version at Gamestop. Did you not include the False God and Gold Superman figures in your huge compilation picture because theyre supposed to represent statues. Instead of the actual character? I saw False God in one of the more specialized pictures and Task Force (although I guess he counts as a recent Superman figure like you mentioned). I didnt see the gold statue at all. Thanks for including those pics. Those are good visual checklists.
I think the nose on Neca and Mezco are more accurate to what he nose looked like, apart from that, the paint job in the eyes and the upper right part of the lips, I believe McFarlane is superior. Although I changed my mind in a lot of figures after seeing them in hands, for example, I ended up coming to the conclusion that the head sculpt of Batman from the Knightfall two pack is not as bad I thought it was by just looking at videos and promo shots.
I think the McFarlane Christopher Reeve Superman would go well with my Neca figures of Rocky and Ivan drago, Rambo, terminator, commando, Dutch from predator, blade runner action figures, ash Williams from evil dead, Kurt Russell figures from the thing and escape from New York, back to the future figures of Marty, doc and biff, Michael Keaton Batman, Peter Weller Robocop, etc. And my diamond select John wick figures and my McFarlane bloodshot and John Constantine figures too.
Page Punchers Reeve has totally different arms and upper chest and neck than this CE version. I think Page Punchers Reeve is actually a Frankenstein of this all-new CE Reeve Superman + the arms and neck of the Crisis body. Have no idea why they went that route when they could've just repainted the CE version.
I thnk NECA nailed the head sculpt but since that figure is unfortunately plagued by QC issues with the brittle plastic the McFarlane figure is just an over all better figure, though on my display shelf the NECA Keaton Batman and Chris Reeve Superman scale better with the rest of the heroes McFarlane, NECA and even SOTA made for all these years. The new McFarlane stuff is just too tall.
I love CR superman love the looks, I grew up with this movies but ... Let's be honest. Every single one of them were HIRRIBLE!! Just terrible on every single way 😆. The portray of Christopher reevés was the only. Good thing about them. The story was super stupid. Terrible villains. Action scenes ....what action scenes?? 😆 Just awful. But this figure is fire 🔥 I can't wait. To have it in my hands
Nope, in person, it looks far more amazing than on videos for some reason. One of the best purchases I ever bought of a McFarlane figure. It's seriously that great in person.
And yet you took the time to tell us this. No, it is amazingly accurate. The publicity photos that were released are of prototypes or test shots and are infamous for never looking as good as the final. This is so close to Reeves it’s scary. If you disagree then you are being a contrarian or just trolling. That’s objectively looks like the man.
This figure is way better in person than photographs make it look.
I agree. It's become a regular occurrence with McFarlane DC stuff.
Fun Fact: While they're not the exact same in tone, Adam West's last appearance as Batman in live action was in the 1979 Legends of the Superheroes TV specials, so he's probably a better fit as they were technically contemporaries.
Please correct me if I am wrong. The Page punchers 78' Superman has a wider chest than this Christopher Reeve Superman?
You are in fact correct. It’s using the chest and arms from the crisis body buck
@@brucardi thanks for the explanation bro!
I think the Donnerverse would benefit from having its own Batman, maybe Warren Beatty?
Supergirl’s not “technically” a part of the Donnerverse, it just is
disappointed at mezco's effort since it's the most expensive
I’m so excited to get this fig for my collection! I hope these films only get more action figures as time goes on
I'm hoping n waiting for boxed set ultimate movie superman figures...
I wish it didn't have those wrist cuffs.
The kryptonite chain would have been a great accessory. And, maybe the giant cellophane "S" that he threw at the Kryptonians.
Awesome idea for 3D printers
It looks cool. Still waiting for my preorder.
I like the movie with nuclear man. I’d want him in figure form.
NECA nailed the head sculpt of Reeves.
They will be making a tributeto lynda carter's wonderwoman

Cant wait to get this in
hand, I have missed out on previous Christopher Reeve releases but this one definetly looks worth it
Another great video, I am looking at that Platinum Batman in a GameStop right now. Do you still need it?
Yes
Do you have instagram?
I don't, which I know is pretty lame but I did pick up that figure and we can figure something out for sure.
We are talking about the orangish colored Batman from the video game Platinum version right?
Yes
Can you shoot me an email

15:00 Michael Keaton
Btw. Where do you guys get the platinum version ? I haven't seen it anywhere
Buddy got it for me at Walmart
Another buddy found one at Walmart
Another buddy found some at GameStop

I have mine. I like it. I put the extra head on the Hush SUPERMAN body. Looks great (IMO). Keaton and Reeve. Like #73... Bat Toast

I swapped the wrist pegs with the Return of Superman figure, and while they're a little big, the skin tone matches fairly well.
I have this action figure i watched the 1978 Superman with my father when I was 3 years old.
Not bad! I have seen the ultra realistic ones, but I hear they cost over $700.😯
I would love to see a double pack in the future that includes this '79 figure from the movie and that classic Batman figure from the '89 movie.
A two pack with Lex Luthor or Zod would be pretty cool too
You actually got a decent looking "S" symbol most are messed up

West goes with Reeve
Keaton goes with Cage (😂)
Bale goes with Routh
Batfleck goes with Cavill
the evil supeman version was done very dark though

Keaton Batman goes with the Superman we never got which was Nick Cage
Tim Burton universe
Thank you and Happy New Year!
I passed on this because the upper torso looks way too big for the lower torso. Like he's wearing a crop top.
❤️❤️❤️

Adam west
He looks better with Adam West.
Neca resembles reeves more

Got mine a few days ago, definitely 1 of the best McFarlane ever made. Love this Superman.
neca bootleg is much better!!!
So cooool 💯
Somehow he looks more like the karate kid

Very ugly
"The face looks excellent. I can totally see Christopher Reeve there". I heard this, and stopped watching. The figure is insultingly bad.

@@Wol1427it's the nose for me, it's too thick and it's weird bcs they got nose right on the alt head

Such an Awezome Superman figure....
