@@Gamurboi Not only that, but I have ran into some college math professors that only teach college algebra up through trigonometry. Because they don’t teach calculus they tend to not understand it as well when they have to fill in a semester of teaching it for some other Professor. I know I had this problem last semester when I was in trigonometry. This semester coming up I will be in calculus 1. However, I have basically already taught myself all of calculus one. Limits, differentiation and integration. I’m well ahead of the class already before I have ever stepped foot in it thanks to this gentleman.

Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for another incredible video/lecture on Integration by Partial Fractions. Partial Fraction Integration is a big part of Techniques of Integration in Calculus Two. This topic is not difficult however, the algebra can get really messy from start to finish. There are multiple ways to find the constants for problems that involve Partial Fractions in Precalculus/Calculus. This is an error free video/lecture on TH-cam TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.
2 weeks of lectures on various integration methods and I barely understood anything VERSUS 1 saturday spending my time watching integration videos by this legend and fully understanding it. This has basically been calculus in a nutshell for me.
Wow, thank you for that nice, concise explanation of why this exists and how it works in the first four and a half minutes of the video. It really would have been nice if my own professor had taken any time at all to explain that.
I have my final exam in calculus in like two days, and your videos have been such a life saver so far. Thank you so much for youe effort! it means a lot!!!
Thank you very much sir, Our words cannot really demonstrate our feelings towards the incontrovertible assistance you have been given to us. We passed many difficult examinations in-spite of your helping videos sir, thank you abundantly.
I sat through my college lecture with my professor rambling about this with his toes out and nothing made sense, I watch this video on 2x speed and I feel I understood everything. You are a legend 😇
I have a question: how do you know when to use U substitution, integration by parts, or partial fraction method when looking at an integral? What do you need to look out for in an integral to determine the method of solution? Basically what is a rule of thumb for these things?
Usually, you should try a u substitution as the first method. If that doesn’t work, then use integration by parts for multiplication or partial fractions for division. Eventually, you’ll be able to intuitively tell what integrals to use which techniques on, but it takes practice. I usually just do a u substitution in my head and then sus out whether the u substitution will take care of the entirety of the integral.
As a general rule of thumb, I always start with u substitution. In case it didn't work, I remind myself of several procedures based on the first glance at the problem: if it contains a lone natural log, exponential function (especially e^x) or inverse trig function, I would try By Parts first. if it contains powers of sec and tan, or sin and cos, I would try Identities method first. if it contains sqrt(u^2 +- a^2), I would try Trigonometric Substitution. if it has polynomials (long expression), I would try Partial Fraction.
Choosing 3 for x is not the only way to solve that equation. He could have picked any value of x really, as long as it was not 1 or 2, since those two numbers would cause some of the terms in the equation to be 0 and then eliminate the variable B he wanted to solve for because anything times 0 is 0. So you could have picked 4, 5, or any other number and it should still work. I hope this helps!
What other teachers don't seem to make us understand, you put it into a flowing liquid and make us drink it with ease. I have never understood integration by partial fraction like this before.
