0:00 - Question - When it comes to reading the Bible, what could you say to someone who is physically sick and finds it difficult to read? 0:46 - Michael's response.
@GameliEL Auceps God will never get me to love Him using His wrath. He will get me to capitulate, and my body to conform, but not my heart. Sorry. If God does not LOVE me, screw Him. Sorry so blunt, but that's just the way it is. Charles Spurgeon even said words to this effect: people do not care if God is angry at them. Their heart will be as cold as an iceberg. However, these same people, when they think they have made God to sorrow, their heart is moved to tears.
You have no Idea how much I needed to listen to this, brother. I've been going through so much pain, the only thing keeping me from taking my life is the fact that that's a sin and I don't want to sin. And often I see myself as nothing before God, as in worthless and meaningless.
Iago, keep fighting brother. You are wrestling against the lies of the enemy. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. If you are in Christ, then our Father sees you as perfect and spotless. He loves you just as much as any other Christian, in particular, he loves you just as he loves Jesus. It’s not about what you did or where you come from or what you will do. It’s about Jesus. He finished it on the cross. You can know that you are loved and that the God of the universe actually wants to be your friend and Lord. If you haven’t repented and given up your efforts to “do better”, then do it right now. Call out to God, and beg him to forgive you, then turn to Jesus and trust that he destroyed your sins and they are now forgotten. Surrender you life to him, and stop trying to be the center or the hero. He is the center and he is the hero. Just listen to him and his word, and tell those demons they are liars and you are the son of the most high king!
Christ died for you, and you alone as if you were the only one who had ever sinned. Imagine this, Jesus is in the garden of Gethsemane, and He says "Father, if there be any way My going to the cross can pass from Me, take it from Me" and the Father responds "You've done well, always been perfect, greatly loved me, suffered for My name and always gave glory to Me, and never once have you disobeyed. You dont have to go to the cross. You can come up to be with Me at My right hand as My Son, and rule with Me forever, but lago Mota will go to hell." To which Jesus would respond "Oh. If he's going to go to hell I will go to the cross to save him from his sins". That is a picture that was given to me by a preacher named Zac Poonen, and I haven't forgotten it. You are valued, no matter what life circumstances you have faced, or expectations you didn't meet that you put upon yourself, or someone else put upon you, Jesus Christ already paid for EVERY failing that you confess and ask forgiveness for, and it's forgotten the moment you trust Christ to forgive you! He has paid your ransom! Go to Him and ask Him to reveal to you how much you are worth with all of your heart that you can give. Jesus cares for you, and for me. If He cares for me, then He can certainly care for you.
I put before you a strange parable. Though we are taught of God that we are vain and that we are worthless in every sense of the word, God still loved us and died for us. That is the truth that sets us free. When I am worthless God redeemed me, and when I was vain, God made me see my purpose. He is our sufficiency for all things.
iago!! i am so sorry to hear this. as your sister in Christ i HAVE to tell you are significant and worth more than you know! i have felt this same way before and didn’t take myself away for the very same reason. Jesus so graciously helped and walked me thru that hard time. there is so much hope in Jesus. remember that you don’t have to be strong on your own! Literally Jesus is so intimate in all the details in your life helping you more than you know and it is my prayer that He helps you realize how He’s carrying you, keeping you and loving on you. you are loved beyond measure and God is so mindful of His iago! praying you start seeing Gods hand in your life and i pray you realize how He’s comforting you❤️Ele te ama muito y rezarei por você. Ele não vai falhar com vc❤️❤️❤️
This is a beautiful and timely encouragement. I am so much tormented by the idea that one of my mistakes could send someone to hell because if I display anything short of perfection, people who see me fail morally will think Jesus isn't the truth as I preach him and I will somehow have their damnation on my conscience. As I study the word I realize that none of my actions will save anyone and I must run towards holiness out of love for my savior and not to try and save anyone. Thanks a lot.
Hi. I'll share this verse with you. 1 John 1:8-10 ⁸ If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
I grew up thinking this: JESUS loved us, and God saved us ONLY for Christ's sake. Dr. Oliver Greene once said, "Don't get proud. If it wasn't for Jesus, God the Father would not care about you. He only loves you for Jesus's sake, because He loves Jesus." I had wished it had been God the Father on the cross, instead of Jesus.
Just to be frank, God loves creation and soul is so precious to Him, he longs to speak to that creature. Would God not allow a person any way to speak to Him? I doubt it. If they couldn't get on their knees, they could pray to him standing up, if they had no voice.....they could speak to Him in their mind and in their spirit, etc.
But what does this advice look like practically? Is he saying that the chronically ill are supposed to simply abandon Bible study and prayer?! As a perfectionist and semi-invalid who really struggles to have devotions, I was hoping for comfort and practicals.
Hi Katie, I hope this answer finds you well. I was the one who asked the question on the video, I had my mom (who is battling with cancer) in mind when I asked this question to Michael. Later after this video was posted she told me that even with the health difficulties and long lasting effects of chemo she never stopped searching for God. Practically never stop reading, praying, watching sermons, memorizing, etc. She strongly believes that the Lord has grown closer to her after cancer than before because it pushed her to grow closer to God rather than push her away and she believes that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. I know MIchael Durham would never discourage anyone to seek the Lord but to grow closer to Him in every trial and difficulty we have. I have talked to him personally and he had shared with me some trials he had in the past where even though it was hard for him to do his devotionals he still pursued God with all his might and I think he is one of the most mature Christians I have been around because the Lord has helped him and rewarded him for his obedience. Hope it helps you run the race better
@@miguellobo8277 WOW!!! How neat to meet the man who asked the question! Thank you so much for taking the time to write to me, brother. I will have to think about what you said and perhaps reply with further feedback.

GOD knows the heart, and the desire. These days, you can find videos on TH-cam that have audio recordings of Scripture

Is there such thing as a backsliding failure Christian?
Also is it normal to be hard on yourself because of Sin? Just how Paul hit his body with his fist so he won’t sin?
