There's this really awesome retro flanger that sometimes creates a single sample with an infinite volume (this permanently breaks any reverb VST until it's restarted)
I have Tunefish and I tried the project thing, turned a few knobs, saved and closed the project and... it saved things just fine. upon reopening. I even tried it with Tunefish3 as well. (also worth checking out, it's not made obsolete by version 4 IMO) Note that the one I chose was the VST3 version, IDK if that has to do with your issues. One synth that DOES suffer from that in my end is Quilcom CASTER, a granular sampler. It's so rare to have a free granular synthesizer, NOT PROCESSOR, that loads samples and lets you play *polyphonically* ... Just for it to get rid of the samples upon project load. Thankfully, their Harvester plugin is similar and it does preserve samples.
uh oh! I checked it out and the issue is even more embarrassing (for me) the developers appear to have fixed the save issue at some point between my initial download and 2018. my collection is showing its age...
I'm going to say Synth1 because it's pretty much abandonware at this point. It has a nice retro sound but hasn't been updated since 2014. It's also picky on how to load and create soundbanks on.
@@GSTChannelVEVO when you have no inharmonic content additive synthesis is achieved through IFFT [it's faster than naive sum-of-sines] it's a special-case. e: you can actually see where they populate the result wavetable at line 1362 of tf4.cpp
@@charlotteathena oh huh, TIL. as for the save/load issue... the problem appears to be exclusive to the old version of the plugin that I grabbed when I first saw it. I never thought to check for updates 😑 the newest version works fine for me
Aaaaaaaah man Lama takes me back. I suppose the just tragic fact these days is that Vital covered so many bases so well that I stopped using and trying out other synths. But within Vital it is extremely tragic that filter 1 and 2 have no output controls yet have 2 redundant note tracking dials
maybe start an issue about that in vital's github repo or email matt about it. also you can maybe substitute it for the drive knob if you only need it for physical modeling
yeah! i made a quick little piano rendition of "retrodely jam" for this vid. that version isn't finished or released, but the original is available here: soundsfromsci.bandcamp.com/track/retrodely-jam-cadence-variation-2b
Honestly, therapy by De La Mancha. Such an interesting and cool plugin, but what hampers it is having to type in new random words. I wish it'd just give me some params to fuck with instead of making me type all this shit, and then you have to guess how each word is actually affecting things - I get it's supposed to be an enigma, but you could at least just use sliders or knobs instead of the word bullshit. I also get it's called therapy, and that's like, the gimmick, but maybe you can just have that be optional? I feel like it'd still be true to the plugin if it had that as the default and an option but let you have some less abstract control too.
My man just casually dropped a link to an almost 7 hour long video about various VSTs. There go my plans for the weekend I guess...
jesus
Delay Lama walked so MeowSynth could run

that fucking rocks
ooh so that's what's happening. i have a few plugins like that. usually they behave though :P
that was a cool take on why it's still a good thing to check out all kinds of plugins, even though they might come with terribly annoying flaws

Vital if the VitalFX vst wasn't canceled
oh no thats so sad time to download all of these
I'd add Dexed to that list too, a free FM synth, while most of it's ok, the envelopes are super glitchy

tunefish seems like a wavetable(-esque) synth that's generating the waveform in realtime (spectrally via IFFT) off the params
It uses additive synthesis, but otherwise, yep you're right on the money

there does actually seem to be state storage code in there too so i'm not sure why the save/load of patches is broken :(

@visagemsc oh I did, many did in fact but Matt stopped development on it a while ago.
Aren't humans some kind of plugins with flawed execution? Even so we fall in love.
Thanks
I used Tunefish and Berrtill but forgot all about them
Theres no chance for free vsts to ever make it when Fartsynth is 10$
tunefish sounds really cool!
Edirol Orchestral, if you can save the state in a daw, and not have to load a proprietary save file through menu diving every time it opens
5:51 Ah, the VST that was used in Freaks by Timmy Trumpet
did you make the outro music with the piano? it's seriously beautiful and wondering if it's available to listen to anywhere

Interesting video title...

I loved delay lama!! Vital is bae.

1:40 Very Tronish.
I only use PST's. Physical Synths Technology.
BRB DOWNLOADING MEOWSYNTH
5:51 This one sounds like a joke! 🤣🤣🤣
oh no you didnt !!!.. VITAL ? wow.. oh .. ok .. its not on the diss list..
btw axistep force detected!
