Yantai Chaoyang Street was built in 1872. It is an old commercial street with history. It is located at the foot of Yantai Mountain and is about 400 meters long. It has witnessed Yantai's prosperous past. European-style buildings such as foreign banks and businesses in old Yantai are gathered here, and Chinese and English signboards of foreign companies, factories, businesses, banks, and entertainment venues can still be seen.
In 1981, Yantai became one of the earliest cities in northern China to engage in international trade. Many countries established consulates, banks and other offices in and around Yantai Mountain. At present, the Yantai Mountain Scenic Area is the largest existing modern consulate building complex in Asia. The architectural complex has different architectural styles and well preserved. Climbing the lighthouse on Yantai Mountain, you can overlook the city and harbor, and see the city lights gradually light up in the evening.
