Aloha, the road to Hana is awesome. The bamboo Forest at the end is the best. Black beach and water falls. We have videos on all them. Thanks for sharing, watching and SUBSCRIBING ❤️🏝🌋
You lost your Mavic!?! Lol. I bought a Mavic mini specifically for my trip to Hawaii. The other day I was practicing and the wind blew the drone out of range but I was able to use the "find my drone" app and get reconnected to land. I did say to my partner "Boy it would suck to have it get blown out over three ocean in Hawaii where I couldn't get it back." Watching that part of your video gave me a bit of PTSD, although the rest was great. 👍
It did suck to lose it but I knew I was getting the Mavic 3 Pro right after so it was riskier than I would have been otherwise. My only advice is to fly against the wind when you go out and with the wind coming back if at all possible. Have fun in Hawaii and get some great shots!
What time were your afternoon reservations ? I’m thinking of planning out my trip like you did and want to see how to plan the time frames 😅 great video!
We had one for 1st thing in the AM. I think 7 or 8 AM when we stopped briefly before the Pipiwai Trail. The afternoon time slot was 1 PM which we did after the trail & lunch
How did the Shaka app work since you started at the end and worked your way back? Did it still give you the info in the way there and none on the way back?
I don’t know the name but I flew my drone from near Kaumahina State Wayside Park. It is just west of there towards The Garden of Eden Arboretum. Not sure if there is a way to see the waterfall from land.
Did you do a reverse route up the backside and in a loop instead of going to pain first then road to Hana? That’s what I’m understanding from your video. I hope to do that - it will be our 2nd time visiting. We are coming from ka’ anapali and want to see state parks first.
We went the regular way but drove basically straight to the Pipiwai Trail & then reversed course. You can get to the Pipiwai Trail going around the backside as well. Most rental cars are not supposed to go that way.
Excellent video, thank you!
Thank you for pulling over for locals!! Very respectful!
Great video! Gives a good sense of the highlights to see. Good job on the narration as well

I was ready for a new drone anyway. Good to hear you got yours back. Very cool of the locals!
I'm headed back to Maui next month let's see how far I can send it

You did get more info on the way out but it also pointed out places and kept you entertained on the way back
Wondering...If you lost your drone. How did you collect your footage. Thanks for the video.
The drone sends a lower quality feed to your phone and I used that. I would love to have the 4K version but those are the breaks.
What’s is the name of the waterfall where you lost your drone?

What time did you get to Pipiwai Trail? How long did it take you? Thanks Bob!
9 AM, took about 2 & a half hours plus 30 min to see the pools at the bottom
If you make 2 time reservations to Black sand beach. Do you pay the parking fee twice?
Yes, you pay for each reservation
What time of year was this??
October
Hi Bob, did you drive to pipiwai trail first on road to Hana without making stops and then made stops on the way back?
Yes, basically that is the way we did it
I hope you recovered your drone and understand why you shouldn't fly those things in national parks.
Your video is great, but I feel like you rush through it too quickly, and the music is too overpowering and makes it difficult to hear your voice.
