Toni Braxton, by far, is tragic to me. Her health literally has been really sad. It has caused her so much heartache and money issues. She is a beautifully talented woman with the voice of an angel 😇❤
This is why credit counseling and money management should be taught in middle and high school. Every year.
It also should be mandatory for all professional sports rookies. Too many get crazy with those paychecks and end up with nothing.

Credit counseling partially helps. Problem that video also mentions that drugs, bad friends and exploitive family members can contribute to people losing money.

Took this class in high school
First and foremost, I feel far more sympathy for people who have never experienced financial stability than those who’ve had it - and then some - and lost it all. However, for me the story of Gary Coleman is the most tragic. He got screwed by his own parents, endured a lifetime of bullying due to his small stature, and ended up working as a security guard at the backlot of the studio where his childhood stardom began. I felt genuine sadness when I learned of his untimely death. TLC comes a close second.
Saw Gary Coleman when I was around 13 he was working security at the Cleveland Auto Rama and this is before everyone had phone with cameras to take pictures so I could not get a pick

I do too. A lot of these people on the list have never had the education on how to save or invest money. Then to make matters worse they had leeches in their life.

Amanda Bines a few weeks back was found a walking naked in the middle of the night in downtown la. When approached by fans the only thing she could say was “I’m just coming down from a psychotic break”. She did check herself in to a hospital. That girl has been so haunted by her mental health it’s hard to not feel bad for her.

@@WednesdayPoeAddams Had such a crush on her when I was a dumb little kid(think a lot of us did)and just like her have battled mental health for years. Her family seems to be mostly crap too after reading about that conservator hearings and stuff. It was just about them getting paid and still begs so many questions on who’s there for her. I just hope she’s getting the help she needs from somebody.

I completely feel sorry for her. Getting a mental health problem is never a choice your genetics will allow it to take hold. Amanda needs to be under care for the rest of her life but she’ll never be the same again. So sad

To make matters worse he was going through kidney failure at the time. He was doing different strokes while on dialysis. They didn't even care.

I feel really bad for Gary Coleman. He wasn't at all responsible for his loss, unlike most of the list (although TLC's issue was more inexperience). His parents should be beyond ashamed.
Agreed. I don't search for his past mishaps (mug shots, et al) because I feel bad for him. Plus, my mom watched Diff'rent Strokes back in the day. I watched reruns of the show back in the mid '90s. GC is still human.
I’m so pleased to hear Gary Busey recognized for his work and finally hearing the compassion and empathy he deserves in the voices describing his recovery from a traumatic injury after a motorcycle accident instead of the usual snide comments
Gary will always be recovering from his head injury . His injury was that bad .
Lessons to learn from all these:
* Finish High School
* Trust Financial Advisors to a point. They are there to advice, not manage your money. The final decision should be up to you.
* Learn to say NO.
* Know when to back out of a Legal fight. Sometimes it’s not meant to be.
* Your Health is important. Take care of yourself properly (for a long life & healthy bank account)
* Always read your contracts; even if it’s super long and boring. Know what you are getting into.

The ones that splurged on dumb shit and drugs, I have no sympathy for.
But the ones that were stolen from and taken advantage of and used, I really do feel horrible for them.
With the exception of children, and TLC (which was more about inexperience), you have to ALLOW yourself to be taken advantage of.

The way this channel and others talk about drugs as “substance abuse disorder” and call in “sustained substance use” rather than addiction or drug abuse makes it sound like these people never had a choice to start using, and makes them into powerless victims of a “disease.” It’s the only “disease” where you get to make the conscious choice to never have. I grew up around drugs and thought it was normal. But I also watched relatives destroy lives for it and consciously chose to not start. I watched relatives of mine say they couldn’t help themselves and that it was a “disease,” and I got to deal with being called a shitty person when I reached the limit of help I was willing to offer since I was “abandoning” people who were “sick” and “couldn’t help themselves because they have a disease.” They made the CHOICE to start, and I’ the bad one for it. They’re disempowered to do anything since they’ve been told for years now that it’s not their fault as their kids suffer until choosing to follow in their footsteps.
I’ve gone no-contact, even with my mother, and will deal with being called a bad person and a bad daughter. I don’t allow that shit into my life, even if that means kicking out people that this channel sees as poor victims who should have my support. If they don’t want to get help, then I don’t care what happens to them, and I don’t care where they end up, and they should’t get financial support that they’ll blow up their noses.

But once the addiction is there, it truly becomes a disease in the sense that you really don't feel like you have a choice anymore but to keep taking it. Of course that's not true but that's what it does to you and that's how it feels. I'm speaking from experience with substance addiction but the kicker is, like you said, whether or not people WANT to be helped, or even recognize that they have a problem. The last part is the trickiest because people are never more angry than when confronted with uncomfortable truths about themselves.

You may feel like you don’t have a choice anymore, but that doesn’t change the fact that there was a time when you didn’t use something, and then made the choice to. When you made the choice to start, you chose your road. YOU HAD A CHOICE. I, and others in my shoes, didn’t.
Know what’s even more fucked up than people thinking a “disease” means they can’t be blamed? How much victims are shamed into not walking away from family who have “diseases” that they “can’t help.”
We know Amanda Bynes was sexually abused by Dan Schneider. She even lived with him. I always wondered why my favorite actress ended up the way she did was because of him. She deserves better.

Ah, we all hate Percy. The reason we all hate Percy, is that the actor portraying Percy was so good at bringing him to life on the screen. The Green Mile is one of my favourite movies of all time. All the three child actors from Different Strokes should get a documentary.
Each one was more tragic than the other especially Dana Plato.
Dana Plato was commoditized her entire life. She was an accomplished figure skater until her showbiz mother forced her to be an actress. She was a childhood victim of SA. When she was a teenager and became pregnant it was through a relationship with an older guy who retrospect preyed on her. Even her suicide was after being ridiculed on the Stern show. Her story is remarkably similar to Amanda Peterson, the actress from "Can't Buy Me Love."
It is so fucked up that someone like Gary Coleman got bullied for his appearance and screwed by his own parents. Everything came crashing down after that (literally).
At least Burt Reynolds had a nice neighbor who helped him live out the rest of his life in his mansion. ❤️

Reynolds was somewhat a victim of "golden touch syndrome", where Hollywood producers thought that he had the golden touch and that just casting him in a movie would guarantee success. They didn't understand that the underlying movie has to be solid, or it doesn't matter how popular the star is. Which goes along with what I've said for years: Studio executives are incapable of judging quality. To them, every movie, no matter how badly written or made, is exactly the same quality to them, and they have absolutely no idea why one movie is a hit and another one bombs.
Reynolds movies were action/adventure/comedy. No one for decades did those kind of films like him. What he should have done is a movie where HE played Norm McDonald: Turd Ferguson. !!
He got ruined when his wife and ex told the truth about him (Loni Anderson & Sally Field). An abusive pill addict. That's how he got broke. I hope he had good years before the end, but lost his fortune for good reason.

I deal with folks here in TX who've convinced themselves that LA is a factory hellbent on "Woke." LA wouldn't know what liberal is if it punched them in the mouth. Turns out that in his later years, Burt Reynolds and my dad had the same primary care doctor. My dad said that he would see him often and that he was very nice and I got the vibe that they were friends from how my dad spoke about him and how sad he was after he passed

Amanda has Bipolar Disorder, and without someone to really care (Her parents only spent her money and ignored her mental heath) things like that happens. As someone who lives with bipolar disorder, I wouldn't be here, alive, without the suport I have from my family, and the worst part is that almost no one is talking about this issue, people don't know hot to react, or what to do, when they see someone in a maniac episode. It's sad, it's terrible, and we do not deserve this.
And its such a hard one to deal with for everyone involved. Not only does it suck for the person who deals with bipolar but the caregivers never know how much truth in in their interpretation of evets and what triggers there are etc. I wish it was more openly talked about too so people understood it better.
The only one I have empathy for is Gary Coleman. His parents squandered his fortune, he was just a child. He didn’t act gluttonous with his money. Poor thing worked his childhood and young adulthood away just to have adoptive parents, financial team, agents and lawyers who did not protect his future and robbed him blind. He already had huge medical bills to cover most of his life due to dialysis and a couple failed transplants. It was so sad when he passed at such a young age. At least he’s at peace now, no one else can hurt or let him down.
The laws were changed after the Fatty Arbuckle scandal almost 100 years ago: money was supposed to be put away for child actors. Someone found a "work around"??

Eh, there's a give and take to it. My mother had a 162 IQ and drank herself to death in a multi-million $ estate in Los Feliz. When my ex and I split up the way I dealt with missing her continuously was to drink heavily. She and I were extremely close and not having her around was like having my arm FN sawed off. I made the choice but you can also argue this choice was influenced by what I was around constantly as a kid. My sister never touched a drop and went to Harvard (seriously). Maybe she's the better person. Maybe she had better opportunities because she's certainly smarter than me. I believe substance abuse is similar to falling in love: timing is part of it, convenience, background, etc. It's probably a combination, not all one thing or another. Don't be quick to condemn.
I have the most sympathy for Amanda Bynes. It was purely mental illness with the poor girl ❤ Also sympathise with the ones that lost eveything due circumstances out of thier control.

I feel bad for Gary Busy - through no fault of his own (I'm assuming here the accident wasn't his fault), he suffered irreversible brain damage and lost his ability to work. That's just sad. He was such an iconic actor.

The phrase “substance use disorder” is meant to take all responsibility off of a person when the reality is that no one becomes an addict without a moment where they’d never tied drugs, then make the decision to do it. Don’t make that decision, and you can’t become an addict. Instead, you’re taking it off of the addict, and worse, this makes it so that affected people in an addict’s life are seen as heartless for “abandoning” a “sick” person. As someone who has had to go entirely no-contact with addicts who openly took the mindset that it’s a “disease,” and so it’s not their fault, and as someone who was nearly killed for it, you’re not helping matters by trying to make addicts feel better. You’re disempoering them by making it something that happened to them, not something they originally had a choice about and are still on te hook for.

I worked at a Blockbuster in Alpharetta GA in the late 90's and Toni Braxton owed us hundreds in late fees.
And if that helped Blockbuster even by .000000172% to go bankrupt-- great. BB killed the family video rental store.
It saddens me when hard working people end up being bankrupt due to being screwed over by the system.
Most of them did not get screwed over by the system. MOST of them went bankrupt due to their own financial stupidity.
I didn't know this about T Pain. I always enjoy him when he is on screen. He has such a genuine vibe.
I'm sure there are going to be a lot of people who disagree with me, but I do understand how many of these stories (and many others like them) happen. I feel that living paycheck to paycheck before suddenly swimming in wealth only increases the chances of something like this happening. Also, for those who don't lose their money to decisions with drugs and/or alcohol, using the money for "retail therapy" can quickly get as out of control as any other addiction... especially drugs or alcohol. The time to start learning how to live with a surplus of money, assuming you didn't have a chance to learn growing up, is the first moment that you realize you are going to have expendable income... not when you realize months, or years, into the problem. While it isn't unheard of regaining control of your financial situation after digging a deep hole, it is very difficult and requires asking multiples of people for help... and admitting to yourself, before it is to late, that you need help.
People have to learn that no matter if they're swimming in wealth now, there is no guarantee that that will continue into the future. In fact, chances are that it won't. So if you have a lot of money now, put it away for the future! People have to learn that you can also out spend any amount that you earn. A million dollars, for example, sounds like a lot of money, but it really isn't that much if you're buying houses and things of that nature.
I know I'm not anywhere in the league of these famous people, but I understand living paycheck to paycheck, then coming into money just to lose it all with miss management. It makes you think hard about how someone "should" have done things. Coud-a, should-a would-a.
It's a little f***ed up to put those with mental health issues on a list. It's one thing to just blow your money with bad choices, it's something completely different if you're struggling mentally.

Saying someone lost everything isnt the same as applying someone blew everything
I get what you're saying and I agree to some degree. But all of these people are celebrities and we're in the public eye from film, tv, radio, magazines etc they made their money from being in thy public eye.
So everything including mental health becomes public knowledge.
But mental health should be highlighted and maybe a seperate video do show how serious things get

The thing is with the Rithorford custody case is she got penalised for trying to prevent custody as things fell apart but the father literally tried to to sue for full custody before their daughter was even born and while he lost that and it went to 50/50 which it always should have been he was never penalised for that

But if you make every person that makes a bad DECISION feel like it was a “disorder,” over which they had NO control, you’re not only justifying their mistakes as acceptable and not within their control, but also condemning others to repeat the process because they believe they have no control over it at all.

Burt Reynolds - I grew up a fan. Knowing his end just ruined my day. God life sucks sometimes...
Reynolds was a great guy but here's the truth. He ran off Sally Field. That's like whiffing at being Gwen Stefani's bf. You can be a decent, charismatic guy and at the same make poisonous decisions people of substance can't look past. This why you shouldn't screw them over. In the last 15 years of his life Reynolds repeatedly discussed in interviews how he messed up with Sally. His last years would have been a million times better if he hadn't done this, which is a lesson for everyone. If you find a great girl then ***DON'T F IT UP*** Yes I have done this too.

However they phrase it, it's still based on personal decisions that were made.

Jack Nicholson did a similar thing for a friend of his. He bought him back the mansion he had to sell. Although, in that case he didn't charge him anything, he just bought him the house back.

I have never met him personally, (but a couple of people I know who knew him said he became quite rooted in his new hometown of Tracy, California. In addition, his kids went to school there, and he became a big advocate and supporter of the schools in his area and a much valued community member of his area in south Tracy, CA.

Amanda Bynes isn't even the same person anymore. Who she was years ago is what she thought her parents and Hollywood expected of her. What you see in movies or media in general is fantasy, not reality. People really need to understand that. The poor girl is now lost and gone because she never had a chance to become her own person. 😔 Just pray for her.

For me the most moving story was Burt Reynolds. He might have been "broke" in the end but he was rich with friends. Kudo's to his neighbor who freaking bought Burt's mansion and basically let him live there so he wouldn't have to move out of his home in old age. A true good person.
My wife and I just watched Shes the man the other day with our kids. All I could think about was wow she had so much life and potential to go so far for so long. Guess you never know what someone's going through until its too late.

Strangely, Gary Coleman was supposed to have not survived from his chronic kidney disease that made him so short. He lived to his mid 40's with financial issues.

But I'm even more blown away that people don't get lawyers that make that much money that can investigate their contracts. On the other hand I'm grateful to learn from the mistakes of others. ☯️😔🙏
