I took it as their way of telling us that they lied to the judge to try and get Their Friend The Rapist's sentence reduced, and that they didn't really mean it, which tells me their word is as worthless as seatbelts on a motorcycle. If they truly think he's innocent, then they are as dumb as a box of rocks for believing him. If they think he's guilty, then they are completely in the wrong for trying to help out a predator. Even if scientology is somehow coercing them to make that video, they should have let the blackmail or whatever be exposed before publicly sticking up for a serial rapist. It may be fairly hard for their fans to forget about this. Oh well. Good luck to you.
@@michaelj.beglinjr.2804 they wrote "character witness" letters, which is when you tell the judge about the person you know them to be at face value. You can never know what is going on in someone else's head or how dark and disturbing their thoughts can be if they never show that side of themselves to you. They knew Danny as a good person so that's what they wrote. That's all. The jury deadlocked after three days in deliberation; instead of declaring a mistrial, the judge ordered the jury to resume deliberations the week after Thanksgiving. The jury remained deadlocked once deliberations resumed; consequently, a mistrial was declared on November 30, 2022. The jury foreman said that the panel of six men and six women leaned towards acquitting Masterson on all counts because they found the testimonies of the complainants inconsistent and implausible; for instance, one Jane Doe testified in court that Masterson threatened her with a gun during the attack, but a firearm was not mentioned when she reported to the police: "The big big problem for her, credibility-wise, was the gun present in the testimony but not in the early reports", the jury foreman said. Retrial A new trial was held in April and May 2023 and on May 31 Masterson was convicted of two of the three counts of forcible rape. The jury was hung 8-4 in favor of conviction on the third charge. Masterson was remanded without bail until sentencing. As of June 2, he was incarcerated at Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles, in "administrative segregation" for his safety. In July 2023, prosecutors announced that they would not retry Masterson on the charge which had resulted in a hung jury. That’s why I have doubts
The worst thing to say in an apology is the key phrase "I'm sorry if you were offended." This shows that the person didn't find what they said was offensive or hurtful, and if you WERE offended, that's on you.
You can't control other people. What you can control is yourself and how you react to something. Takes years of patience, frustration and other things.
That's one of my favorite "apologies". I have an ex friend who "apologized" like that probably once a week. That and the "I'm just brutally honest" excuse. No, buddy, you're just an a$$hole.
Eh, the public isn’t demanding an apology. All they’ve done is say they won’t be supporting the celebrity anymore. The reason these celebrities do these apologies is because their income and status will take a hit. The way the narrator pronounces the word "sorry" is probably the most Canadian thing I've ever heard lol (this of course coming from a New Yorker who pronounces the word "coffee" as "cawfee" 😉)

the act that she said of course I said that word as if it's a normal thing all people say. I mean I guess she was being honest like I was ignorant and said things I regret now but that's not what she said. She said of course I said that
I think the highest priority for me is not the apology but the change in their behavior. Alot of these celebrities did not change. So they did not learn. Celebrities like Chris brown who got into more violence against women after the Rihanna incident.
What he did was inexcusable but Letterman pushing to have him apologize on air while Jerry was sitting in there was not cool. If he wanted to apologize, it should’ve been on his terms. Not Dave’s. I agree with you. It was embarrassing in many ways.
Ellen made a pretty good point about labelling herself the 'Be Kind' lady. Show that intention with actions, not a mission statement. And earn that trust. Being too explicit about that is asking for trouble.
I don't think Timberlake should apologize for the incident. He should have apologized to Janet for not standing up for her and letting her take the blame and the fall for something HE did. Ridiculous and cowardly.
I agree a bunch of people crying over something what a several celebrity said people are entitled to their own opinions and people getting mad over one measly little, comment it's pitiful these people should be grateful the that the celebrities apologized in the first place it's social media can't swallow their pride and accept the apology the best thing to do is do not ignore those celebrities it these people need to get over it you can't expect people to be perfect and you can't suspect to you like one another or accept one another that's how the world is. That's my opinion
I will never take someone who's apologizing with giant tears rolling down their cheeks seriously. People who are crying for real don't want to be seen crying, they wipe the tears away quickly. Those who allow the tears to roll down want to be seen crying.
Honestly, for Mila and Ashton, they thought their friend was innocent and he wasn't. If my friend was accused of a crime, I wouldn't automatically think of him as guilty.

Alec Baldwin’s apologies story it’s pretty sad. I hate seeing how he did that I actually know his nephew and we’re pretty much friends, but on the other hand, Will Smith slapping Chris Rock was so unpredictable, and then many Chris Rock apologize that was pretty sad. It’s so sad to see how celebrities get in trouble and then they apologize for their behavior. That’s just so unpredictable of them to do these things they have really sad stories.
Well, sometimes an apology isn’t enough to regain trust of other celebrities or fans. A celebrity has to prove himself or herself that they saw the error of their ways and keep their promise not to overdo it.
@@pbsfundingaddict790 I get what you mean? Actually I know that celebrities get in trouble honestly and do you know fans hate when they get in trouble but you know I kind of would love that if they apologize to fans and we will except forgiveness from them and honestly it just makes me sad that they do that but I totally get what you mean
Personally, I don't accept apologies or people saying sorry, because they are just words. When someone changes or genuinely no longer does and say that is wrong, that is the actual apology.
I think the Shia LaBeouf apology is genius he kept plagiarizing apologies and people still kept falling for it people couldn't read between the lines but I can
The Hannah Brown situation is stupid. If you make it public, for folks to sing along to, you need to be totally fine with ANYONE saying the lyrics. Such a stupid issue.
I'm actually thankful for these 'celebrities', that we've already given to much attention, showing us sooner rather than later that they are just horrible and trashy everyday people. *Thank* *you* for showing your face and saving us more time.
Adam Levine’s *apology* after he was exposed for cheating also kinda gave me the ick too. Also, Colleen Ballinger absolutely deserves to be #1 here on this list.
Let's be clear: It was bullshit that Janet received all the backlash while Justin didn't even get a slap on the wrist. But I don't, and never have, believed for a second it was a "wardrobe malfunction." It was a planned stunt, they both were in on it, and they both should have shared the fallout. You don't wear a pasty just for kicks.
Dishonorable Mention: Phil Lord and Chris Miller made an incredibly shallow apology for abusing the animators during the production of Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse.
Thank you for making hate the Lego movie, Aidan. As if I already have been jaded by the voice actors of Unikitty and Puppycorn from the TV show turning out to be pieces of shit. Heartbreaking.
To be fair, the worst celebrity apologies were from Will Smith and Ellen DeGeneres. Will Smith slapping Chris Rock and yelling at him and cussing him out in the audience was assault and a no-no that could’ve landed him behind bars. Chris Rock is one of my favorite comedians and I couldn’t bear to see him get slapped onstage over poking fun at Jada’s hair condition, which he was completely unaware of. And I’m relieved to hear Chris Rock’s response to the slap in his Netflix standup, Selective Outrage and that Will Smith is now banned from attending any Academy events for the next 10 years. His apologies weren’t enough to regain his friendship with Chris Rock or trust from the Academy and other celebrities including Jim Carrey, Kathy Griffin and Paul Rodriguez. What Will Smith did was inexcusable, unforgivable and the video of him slapping Chris Rock is going to be there forever and will last a long time. Ellen DeGeneres mistreating the talk show staff and guests are the reason her show ended in 2022. These allegations from employees included sexual misconduct, racism, and intimidation. Additionally, three of the show’s executive producers oversaw a workplace culture where sexual harassment and inappropriate touching was pervasive. One longtime current employee told BuzzFeed News that DeGeneres’s letter to staffers didn’t seem to be written by the talk show host herself. Actresses Megan Fox, Kathy Griffin and Dakota Johnson have called out DeGeneres in public for her condescending behavior. Ellen’s apologies and decision to end her talk show were certainly not enough for her guests and former fans to hold their breath on.
Ellen Degeneres, I can't really defend. Will Smith, however? I'm not gonna sit here and say he was right to slap Chris Rock, but maybe there was more going on in his head that caused him to react like that. I think he did say he was in a bad place for some time before. While Will could have reacted differently, that was probably the straw that broke the camel's back and he exploded. That's just me
Yeah gotta feel bad for Will Smith. He expressed a mental breakdown. He expressed mental disorientation. Crying and shaking in public. I feel sorry for the guy. He was shunned by the public. The movie about the slave in December 2022 was supposed to be his big comeback, however, it fell flat. Hopefully he’s getting psychiatric help! And hopefully his career goes back up
Regards to Jimmy Fallon (0:22), the reason he didn't apologise publicly, because at the time, the members of the Writers Guild of America (covering the East and West divisions) were still on strike. With talks with the AMPTP about to finalised, it could be by the time he'll do that once it is back on the air.
Yeah and I don’t even forgive Will Smith for his horrible behavior. Chris Rock is one of my favorite comedians and I couldn’t bear to see him get slapped onstage in front of zillions of celebrities anticipating their Oscars.
@@chasehedges6775 Same here. I’ve been a Chris Rock fan all my life. At first I thought Will Smith was okay, but since the 2022 Oscars, I can’t look at Will Smith the same way again.
I’m pretty sure Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were basically trolling the Australian authorities by making their apology as sarcastic and insincere as they could physically get away with.
Can not stand Logan Paul what he and his minions did in the suicide forest was unforgivable. And Colleen needs to go on somewhere too shes ridiculous not an apology at all basically blaming everyone but herself where the blame belongs. Sometimes it's best to keep quiet if you messed up many times you make it worse as we see here in this video.
The whole blowup over the Super Bowl Nipple was nothing short of childish, stupid, and straight-up vindictive. Why anyone would think a woman's breast is so disgustingly evil that it MUST be hidden at all times is a mystery to me, yet one Republican Senator (or maybe he was a Representative) even said that a woman's breast is not for children to see, which really makes me wonder just what, exactly, he thinks they are for. Putting the smack down on Janet Jackson for that snafu was a disgrace that absolutely reeked of misogyny and victim-blaming, and some people are STILL busting her balls over it to this day. Why is it perfectly acceptable to watch someone get brutally murdered on a TV program, yet unacceptable to show a naked person? We are allowed to see their insides, but not their outsides? That is just an obvious attempt by the zealots to force us into conforming to0 their warped views on everything. Good luck to you all.
There are certainly some of these apologies that needed to happen, especially when actual harm was done to someone who didn’t deserve it, but in many cases people just need to stop being so goddaamn fragile and sensitive. It’s getting to the point where people LIVE to be offended 🙄
While Paula Deen and many of these others celebs did very questionable things, almost all of them were on the receiving end of social media's equivalent of the coercive apology, also known as forced apology. Been researching the topic. It looks as if this type of apology has origins in such an apologies approval by 18th century philosopher Immanuel Kant. Kant apparently felt a forced apology was necessary by wealthier people who insulted people in the lower classes, as the wealthy paying a fine for such an indiscretion would created a power imbalance. In today's western society however? For a number of reasons, the modern day forced/coercive apology has devolved into a pointless and theatrical gesture that an apology is only sincere if its voluntary. These observations were originally cited from both Susan K's Apology As Power Intervention: The Case Of News Of The World, as well as from the collaborative text The SAGE Guide To Key Issues In Mass Media Ethics And Law. For me personally, this all comes down to an extreme power dynamic about the court of public opinion often holding more weight today than the actual legal system. For example? I remember very well when Ellen DeGeneres came under scrutiny about her toxic work environment. Those allegations came very close on to controversy where Ellen spoke of the COVID-19 quarantine feeling like she was in jail. Many in the public were angry at her for feeling imprisoned while in a much grander living space than most have. To me as an observer, it really did feel as if the backlash towards Ellen about the work environment did seem to derive in part due to the angry emotions of people angry at her remark about quarantine. So the allegations against her work environment were already operating under the influence of an already present confirmation bias against her. A good deal of "non apologies" seem to derive from similar circumstances. In the end? As horrible as someone's actions, even a celebrity might sound, the court of public opinion isn't a legally binding one. And people need to be careful that we don't become billions upon billions of our own kangaroo courts. And people are judged not by their actions, but the very quality of their apologies for them.

The way the narrator pronounces the word "sorry" is probably the most Canadian thing I've ever heard lol (this of course coming from a New Yorker who pronounces the word "coffee" as "cawfee" 😉)
Wait, there’s a different way to pronounce coffee? 🤔:P
Sometimes, I’ve slipped out Canadian pronunciations from watching Jessii Vee
I once spent a summer in the U.K with a group of Canadians. When I came back to New York, people kept asking me what part of Canada I was from. ☺️
I say if you apologize, you better blame yourself ALOT no matter how many times
The worst have to be Colleen, Logan Paul and kevin spacey
What you didn’t like the ukulele yo🤔😂
Spacey and Paul are the worst
@l3k446 no Colleen literally ukuleled the apology
What about will smith
Will Smith laughed at the joke until he didn't. Hypocrisy 101.
Paula Deen’s “apology” was hilarious.
🤣
It was! So was Will Smith’s. They both apologized with a mental public meltdown. Both funny and Pathetic! I’m glad the public turned their backs on them. The Smiths are trash!!!
Crocodile tears. That was painful to watch.
I thought it was pretty sincere.
That fake crying 😂
the act that she said of course I said that word as if it's a normal thing all people say.
Michael Richard’s apology on Letterman is the most embarrassing piece of media I’ve ever seen
What he did was inexcusable but Letterman pushing to have him apologize on air while Jerry was sitting in there was not cool. If he wanted to apologize, it should’ve been on his terms. Not Dave’s. I agree with you. It was embarrassing in many ways.
I found it very sincere.
@@RichardThompson-v8d I’m not questioning his sincerity. It was just the wrong place at the wrong time
Just reading that title makes me hear the strum of a ukulele if you can even call that an apology
Lmao
Same lol 😅😂
That's the first thing that came to mind!
SOME PEOPLE SHOULD JUST GET OVER IT,MEL GIBSON APOLOGIZED TWICE
Right
One republic said it best ITS TOO LATE TO APOLOGIZE
Yeah fr
It's a wonder Paula Dean never released a drink called Crocodile Tears.
Yeah, that was pretty cringe.😂
I love that we get to hear her say "Sorry" so much
Sometimes it’s better to just not apologize
I agree a bunch of people crying over something what a several celebrity said people are entitled to their own opinions and people getting mad over one measly little, comment it's pitiful these people should be grateful the that the celebrities apologized in the first place it's social media can't swallow their pride and accept the apology the best thing to do is do not ignore those celebrities it these people need to get over it you can't expect people to be perfect and you can't suspect to you like one another or accept one another that's how the world is. That's my opinion
Boyinaband did just that
THE TOXIC GOSSIP TRAINNNNN
Demi lovato “apologizing” for almost destroying a small yogurt shop because she made a whole situation about herself should have been on the list.
What happened? Picturing a vegan situation. Or something about fat-free.
Saying, "I apologize if you were offended" is perfectly fine for the wardrobe malfunction thing. That was blown waaaaaaay out of proportion.
I'm so sick and tired of celebrities apologizing for doing or saying something stupid. Stop apologizing and let your actions speak for itself.
Didn't they send this letter AFTER he had been found guilty though?
He was convicted when the letters were written.
So now I challenge WatchMojo to come up with the Best Apologies video.
Had no idea this channel was Canadian until this video. Didn’t even have to look at the page, but hearing that “Sorry” brought me back to my Degrassi binge watching days
Sia should be on this list for making a movie that pokes fun at Autistic children and fought with the outraged Parents on Twitter, then only tweeted "Sorry" when things got way too Hot and deleted her account. 😂
Now, that must be some mess up crap right here bc I'm autistic
@@geviesanta3631 I witnessed all of that on Twitter in real time. And yes, some of the outraged were from those who were Diagnosed.
Sia's responses was the biggest 💩Show I had ever witnessed from a Celebrity on Social Media ever. 😅
I'm autistic and I was outraged at that story.
She should stick to songs.
@bennywark3103 No not even. At this point, she just ruined her career as a musician. Screw her, she messed up the representation for the Autism community big time.
@@geviesanta3631 oh give me a break! Talk about overreacting! She meant no harm. Get over it.
@@pbsfundingaddict790 Exactly
@@pbsfundingaddict790 I get what you mean? Actually I know that celebrities get in trouble honestly and do you know fans hate when they get in trouble but you know I kind of would love that if they apologize to fans and we will except forgiveness from them and honestly it just makes me sad that they do that but I totally get what you mean
Personally, I don't accept apologies or people saying sorry, because they are just words.
When someone changes or genuinely no longer does and say that is wrong, that is the actual apology.
Internet stars aren't celebrities. Let's never forget that.
I think the Shia LaBeouf apology is genius he kept plagiarizing apologies and people still kept falling for it people couldn't read between the lines but I can
In short, he just trolled them...
So he got busted and then tried to make a joke of it when he got caught, cool I guess
How you gonna show Colleen Ballinger but not include her??? It’s widely considered the worst celeb apology of all time for good reason. Just weird.
Relying on celebrities to lead as role models is like painting your wall with blue paint and hope it comes out yellow.
HOW DID COLLEEN BALLINGER NOT MAKE THE LIST AT ALL WTF
Maybe they don't consider her a celebrity?
@@bigbearkat2010but they consider logan paul a celebrity so yeah she should be on here
Sometimes, I forget WatchMojo is Canadian. I was very much reminded during this video 😂
To forgive or not to forgive. That is the question..😂😂
👍👍💯💯. Hamlet would be proud
Celebrities need to stop making public apologies.
This "thing" by Colleen Ballinger was even not an apology.
In South Park, Butters' mother tried to kill him. She apologized it saying something like "I'm sorry I tried to kill him. I won't do that again".
These guys aren’t sorry…they’re like children being chastised and being made to make half hearted apologies…
Proof that you have the freedom to say what you want, but don't be surprised when you get hate for it and start losing gigs.
But......but......freedom of speech?!
😂 I totally agree with you but there's always those ppl who will spout that when they disagree
I honestly think that Justin had no remorse for affecting Janet’s career.
The Hannah Brown situation is stupid. If you make it public, for folks to sing along to, you need to be totally fine with ANYONE saying the lyrics. Such a stupid issue.
I am in deja vu again... Thanks WatchMojo for looping my life with your lists
Heard was not ignorant. She knew EXACTLY what she was doing.
A grown man, named Dababy, calling people gay. Yeah sure
Sadly, plenty of women are still huge fans of Chris Brown.
I'm actually thankful for these 'celebrities', that we've already given to much attention, showing us sooner rather than later that they are just horrible and trashy everyday people.
*Thank* *you* for showing your face and saving us more time.
Michael Richards apology on Letterman was the cringiest thing ever aired on television.
Baldwin calls you a bad person, take that as a compliment. It means you are a good person.
All of a sudden, the line “Shut Up Meg!” has gained a new meaning.
13:58 What was the offensive term? It was hard to make out what specifically it was, especially since I'm not familiar with the song.
The n word that is directed at African Americans
How is Colleen Ballinger not even on this list?!
Adam Levine’s *apology* after he was exposed for cheating also kinda gave me the ick too. Also, Colleen Ballinger absolutely deserves to be #1 here on this list.
Fun Fact: Adam Levine is that much of an asshole that he made himself public enemy n°1 of Chile.
DaBaby chose the correct rap moniker, He really is a baby.
Amazing video watch mojo of the worst apologies videos from famous celebrities that did not really fix anything by much, fantastic job.
Hmmmm... Interesting. So I guess Travis Scott flies under the radar yet again. Good job Watch Mojo! Maybe on the next list, huh?
I'm not gonna lie on this one. Kevin Spacey's apology was better written than the entirety of House of Cards Season 6.
Let's call it for what it really was. Justin Timberlake left Janet Jackson high and dry.
Dishonorable Mention:
Phil Lord and Chris Miller made an incredibly shallow apology for abusing the animators during the production of Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse.
Thank you for making hate the Lego movie, Aidan. As if I already have been jaded by the voice actors of Unikitty and Puppycorn from the TV show turning out to be pieces of shit. Heartbreaking.
ill save everyone 24 mins
it's "all of them"
👍
Speaking of Kevin Spacey, he posted a video on his TH-cam channel titled Let Me Be Frank in which he's monologuing as his House of Cards character.
And it was way better than the entirety of Season 6
I never watched House of Cards but that's what I've been hearing.
That's just me
@@tencents6yeah same for Will Smith, slapping Chris Rock wasn't a good idea he was defending his wife, and I can understand that.
Will Smith apologies for slapping Chris Rock is both worst and heartbreaking
Yeah and I don’t even forgive Will Smith for his horrible behavior. Chris Rock is one of my favorite comedians and I couldn’t bear to see him get slapped onstage in front of zillions of celebrities anticipating their Oscars.
@@pbsfundingaddict790 I agree!
Will Smith has lost my respect.
@@chasehedges6775 Same here. I’ve been a Chris Rock fan all my life. At first I thought Will Smith was okay, but since the 2022 Oscars, I can’t look at Will Smith the same way again.
@@pbsfundingaddict790 Chris Rock is a legend.
This list gets updated every month lol
No Ariana Grande for going into a donut shop and licking a donut?
I’m pretty sure Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were basically trolling the Australian authorities by making their apology as sarcastic and insincere as they could physically get away with.
There should be a list that reveals the signs of a fake apology.
Top 10 best apologies from celebrities
And also the fact that SHE was blamed.
I must’ve not heard Phoebe say “sorry” before, cause 1:33 was the most Canadian sorry I’ve ever heard
Crazy how these days we think Twitter is the way to apologize for wrongful conduct...that's what the world has become.
The moral of the story is never apologize. No one believes you or forgives you.
Or mean what you say 😂
Janet Jackson was NEVER cancelled by black people.
Props to WatchMojo for acknowledging Courtney Stodden's genderfluid identity and getting Stodden's pronouns right
Courtney does use "she/they" pronouns.
Toxic Gossip Train is a banger though.
“I said it’s too late to apologize”
OneRepublic reference
Anything that starts with "I'm sorry IF" is not an apology.
