Ya ya ya, I love it. At times I feel a little embarrassed about using my spinning rod and home made jigs for stream trout…… but I always catch bigger fish that way. So happy you shared your super slick jig patterns! Awesome video.
You should never feel embarrassed by your chosen fishing style...you do you proudly! One of the beauties in fishing is that anglers can each approach it their own way. In my opinion, if you stay within the bounds of ethics and and the law, you should fish however you want!
@@FishfulThinker Right on. Tip, the Crappies are on at Pella Crossing open space. A size 14 purple squirrelly leach with red or black tungsten bead was amazing this last Tuesday.....since I rode my bike from Boulder, I released all of them. Open Space rangers begged me to keep them for years now. But I got no refrigeration on my bicycle. At Pella you can keep 20 Bluegill AND 20 Crappies.
I'm in love with that fly/spinning setup. Any UL spinning rod you guys could suggest for casting those one inch punch flies? I can't afford a St Croix or similar rod and there's no way I can find someone to addapt a fly rod to a spinning rod.

We checked into it with WFN; that was the Laramie River show and the lures were #9 and #11 Berkley Hit Sticks. At the time we filmed that, they were in pre-production and the Hit Stick has gone on to be one of our favorites, especially the #11 size. Thanks again for watching!

What reel is on that rod? I had a rod built and cannot pair a reel with it to save my life. What speed reel? I tried a 5:2:1 and it seemed too slow
It's paired with a 6.2:1 Revo MGX. And we would agree...5.2 is fairly slow

We understand your dilemma! We'd look at a Fenwick HMX in the longest light power model they make.
